I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to:
1. Describe the classification of matter according to composition
2. Understand the particle nature of matter as basis for explaining properties,
physical changes, and structure of substances and mixtures, and
3. Explain the properties of solids, liquids, and gases based on the particle nature of
matter.
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding the particle nature of
matter as basis for explaining properties, physical changes, and structure of
substances and mixtures.
B. Performance The learners shall be able to present how water behaves in its different states within
Standards the water cycle.
C. Most Essential Explain the properties of solids, liquids, and gases based on the particle nature

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introduction
What I need to know?
The intersecting lines of latitude and longitude are used to determine accurate
locations on the world.
A grid is formed by the intersection of these lines.
Coordinates are the points where lines of latitude and longitude meet or
intersect.
Latitude lines run north-south around the equator.
A. Introduction Meridians are the lines that run east and west of the prime meridian.
The equator is an imaginary line drawn around the world, equally
distanced from both poles, that divides the planet into northern and
southern hemispheres and is designated with 0° latitude.
The prime meridian is the earth's zero degree of longitude, which
travels through Greenwich, England.

What’s new?
How Much Do You Know About Geographic Coordinates?
Direction: Arrange the jumbled letters to come up with an appropriate term
related to the topic.
Learning Task 1:
In order for the students to describe the location of the Philippines with respect
to the continents and oceans of the world, the students are required to play the
gamified quiz in which they are tend to earn badges or coins when answering
every correct answers.
What’s in?
Latitude
Measurement of distance north or south of the Equator.
The Equator is an example of a line of latitude.
The Equator is the latitude line that divides Earth into two hemispheres,
the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere.
Longitude
The lines of longitude are also called meridians.
The Prime Meridian, which passes through Greenwich, England, is the
longitude line that divides Earth into two hemispheres, the eastern
hemisphere and the western hemisphere.
The Prime Meridian is the 0 point of longitude.
Landforms and Bodies of Water
Natural features of Earth’s surface.
Physical maps can help people locate landforms and water bodies in all
parts of the world.
Map symbols help us locate and focus on places in relation to other
things, such as major landforms and water bodies.
What is it?
Learning Task 2: Find It, Young Explorer!
Find the 12 words below in this word-search puzzle. The word may appear in
any direction: diagonal, horizontal, vertical, and backwards.
Students will answer the puzzle by encircling the words in any available
editing app and the worksheet can be downloaded using this link:
file:///D:/Users/LENOVO/Downloads/Find_It_Young_Explorer.pdf
For those students who forgot to bring their gadget or no gadget at all, they will
be provided with the activity worksheet.
C. Engagement What’s more?
Maps are two-dimensional or three-dimensional depictions of a certain
location.
A globe is a three-dimensional representation separated by imaginary
lines known as latitude (horizontal) and longitude (vertical).
A grid is formed by the intersection of these lines. Coordinates are the
points where lines of latitude and longitude meet or intersect.
Manila, Philippines is located at 140 degrees north latitude and 1200
degrees east longitude as an example.
Direction:
The image of the map will be presented. Color the landmasses green and color
blue for bodies of water. Do this on a white long bondpaper with a given time
of 20 minutes. Be creative in performing the activity.
