Topic 1: Learning English

1. What do you find most difficult when learning English?


My biggest problem is pronunciation. I found it difficult to pronounce some sounds
in English. Besides, I don’t have enough vocabulary to express my ideas.

2. Do you think it is important to learn languages?


Of course. Learning English is very important nowadays because people can do
international business. Besides, knowing English is useful when we travel abroad.

3. It is important for children to learn foreign languages?


Yes, it is. Learning foreign languages is essential nowadays because English has
become an international language. Besides, it’s easier for children to learn a foreign
language when they are young.

Topic 2: Family
1. What do your family like doing together?
Well, my family do many activities together. For example, we are keen on playing
sports and cooking food in our spare time. Sometimes, we go on a picnic at the
weekends.

2. Who are you close to in your family?


I’m very close to my younger brother because we have many things in common. For
example, we like playing sports and listening to music. Besides, he is the person
whom I ask for advice when I have problems in life.

3. What’s your father like?


My father is humourous, he always makes us laugh aloud with his jokes. Besides, he
is strict too but I know that he loves us so much. He teaches me many things in life, I
often ask him for advice when I have problems.
4. What’s your mother like?
My mother is a kindful and understanding person. She always takes care of us.
Besides, she cooks very well, I really love eating food made by her.

Topic 3: Houses
1. Do you live in a house or a flat?
I live in a small house which is in Nghe An province. It’s about 300 km far from
Nghe An to Hanoi. Living in a house makes me feel comfortable because I can enjoy
private outdoor areas.

2. What is your favorite room in your house?


I would say the living room is the room I like the most because it’s a common space
where my family members do many activities together. For example, we often
watch TV after dinner and chat about what we have done during the day.

3. What would you change about your home?


If I had enough money, I would make some changes to my house. For example, I
would buy some new household appliances and repaint the wall with bright colors.

4. Do you plan to live there in the future?


Yes, absolutely. I really love the living space in my house so I don’t want to move to
another place.

Topic 4: Hobby
1. Do you play sports?
Of course! I really love playing sports. I often play badminton with my friends after
work. Besides, I’m keen on playing soccer, volleyball, table badminton and so on.
2. Do you watch TV?
Yes, I do. I like watching TV with my family in the evening after dinner. Our
favourite program is “Don’t forget the lyrics”, the player have to find corect lyrics of
some songs in a minute. It’s great when you can enjoy listening to music and trying
to guess the answer too.

3. Do you read books?


Absolutely, I love reading books a lot. It’s great when you can learn somethings new
from books. My favourite kind of books is self-help book. My favourite book is How
to Win friends and influence people.

Topic 5: Job
1. What do you do for living?
Well, actually, I’m a medical student. You know, most of student depend on their
parent, me too, but I have a part-time job in a book store.

2. What responsibilities do you have at work?


You know, working in a book store you need to introduce about the books to the
customers. So you need to have many knowledge about many types of books.

3. What do you like about your job? Is there anything you dislike
about your job?
To be honest, I’m a medical student so I’m rather busy during the day. But I like my
job now, it helps me to get money so I can buy some medical books or something
else.

Topic 6: Travel
1. Do you like traveling?
Yes, I do. I’m a big fan of traveling. It’s great when you can go far from the city and
enjoy the fresh air or you can taste some new local foods.
2. Have you traveled this year? What do you like to travel during the
holidays?
To be honest, I’m a medical student and I’m busy during this year. I spent mostly
times to study at the academy and practice in the hospital. But in this summer, if I
have a chance, I will go to Ha Long bay with my girlfriend.

3. What do you often do when you travel?


Well, when I come to a new place, firstly, I will go sightseeing around. Then, I will
taste some local foods and talk with some native people to ask them about natural,
history, scenic spots and so on.

Topic 7: Hometown
1. Where are you from?
My hometown is Nghe An province which is about 300 km far from Hanoi. Like
other villages in Vietnam, it’s quiet and peaceful with rice fields, so the air is really
fresh. People in the country are very friendly and kindful. My hometown is famous
for Lang Sen, Nam Dan district which is the hometown of president Ho Chi Minh.

2. Where do you live now?


I live and work in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. I have been living here for 6 years.
Hanoi is both traditional and modern. It’s famous for many beautiful places such as
the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem lake, West lake and so on. Moreover, it has many
entertainment facilities like cinemas, parks and shopping malls.

3. What do people do when visiting your hometown?


People are coming to my hometown can visit Lang Sen, Nam Dan district which is
the hometown of president Ho Chi Minh. Then, you can go to Cua Lo beach, Vinh
city, Kem waterfall and so on.

4. How’s the weather in your hometown?


Nghe An has tropical climate with four seasons including spring, summer, autumn
and winter. Each season lasts for about 3 months. It’s very hot in the summer and
very cold in the winter.
5. What do you like best about it?
I would say what I like most about it is that it’s quiet and peaceful with rice fields, a
lot of trees so the air is really fresh. Moreover, people are very friendly and kindful.
