Ages Exploring identity online

3-7 Assembly script

Target Audience
&KLOGUHQDJHG

This assembly is aimed at children aged 3-7 years. It focuses on celebrating the great things
about being online, while reminding children how to stay safe.

The main focus is on identity and what makes us similar and unique.

This assembly works great as a stand alone, or alongside the lesson plan and quick activities
included in the pack.

In today's assembly we are going to be celebrating all of the great things

about being online and remind ourselves how we can stay safe. I hope that
this assembly is just the start of lots of discussions with your friends, in
school, at home and in the future. It is important to remember that the things
Slide 1 we look at today are something that we need to think about all year round.

This assembly is all about your identity. Your identity is what makes you…
YOU. It’s what makes you unique, or special. Parts of your identity might be
similar to others, and parts might be different… and that’s great! We’ll be
thinking about the different things that make you special, and all the things
Slide 2 you might enjoy. One of the things that you enjoy doing could be going
online. What you choose do on the internet is part of your identity too.

Can anyone tell me what the internet is? Take answers from the group.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I think this video explains what the internet
is, and how it works, really well. Let’s watch it together.
Slide 3

Now that we’ve watched that, who can remember the different ways that
you can get online? Or some of the different devices that can connect to the
internet?

Take answers from the group. Click through and explain the devices as they
appear on screen.
Slide 4 There are: Laptops / desktop computers, smart phones / tablets, games
consoles / music players / e-readers, watches / cameras / satnavs, TVs and
smart home speakers, and even doorbells and lightbulbs can be controlled
by the internet!

Now that we know how we can go online, let’s think about how each of you
might do that. I’m going to read you a poem now about the different things
you might like to do online, how to stay safe, and the importance of knowing
Slide 5 that it’s okay to be who you are.

Read the poem.

There are so many amazing things that you can do online, and ways to
express, and be, yourself. Remember to use the advice from this assembly
to keep yourself and others safe while you do this. You’ll be learning more
