EXPLORE:
A. Given the following classroom situations, think of the solutions that will help you as a
teacher to understand better your students and how affective targets will help you improve
the situations if not totally solve the problem. Discuss your answer with your members.
Write your solutions below each item. (10pts each)

1. Carrlos is an intelligent kid but never makes it to the top of his class because of his attitude
towards some of his teachers.

As a teacher, first I will confront his parents/ guardian towards the problem of their child
and in that way, they could help teach Carlos to be a good student. Second, I will talk to
Carlos and make him feel comfortable to talk with me, I will ask him if he is having a
problem in their home or in school for him to act that way, considering the fact that the
attitude of the student or child might be because of his experience or his surroundings. I
will motivate him in a way that he could be part of the top ten if he behaves well and of
course listen to his reason and that could possibly change if we listen and guide them as
will to build trust within the student and teacher.

2. Angel is consistent honor student since grade school and active too in extracurricular
activities. Then, suddenly, in high school she became an average performing student. It
resulted when she found out that there was favoritism. Grade were adjusted in order for
some of her classmates not to disqualified in being part of the top section (due to
technicalities of grade requirements).

Some of the problem of the student is the teacher who is in favor of some student. What I
see is this case is that the problem is in student and her teacher. Knowing that she is a
consistent honor student since grade school, and it’s possible that in her high school
studies she didn’t make it because her grades might not be enough, and if she really is
having good grades enough to be part of the top she will be, because not all teachers are
favoritism. Second thing is that, if her teacher is the problem, I will confront her myself, I
will request Angel’s grade and their calculation, so that if there is a misinformation, I will
ask that teacher and let him/her correct the mistake so that Angel will not be bother and
might be part of the top performing student.
B. Given the classroom situations, analyze and identify what characteristics of classroom
environment is/are present in the situation. Propose what actions must be done to
improve the situation. Use the template provided.

C. Given the following situations, based on what was discussed about methods of assessing
affecting target, discuss your insights relating it to the appropriate methods of affective
assessment that best fit the situation. Write your answer below each item. (10 points
each).

1. As input to the planning of the school, the president would like to know the feelings of
the students toward the teaching approach that the school employs currently, which they
call as dynamic learning program (DLP), in particulars to its feature, that no homework is
given to students. Note: DLP is a teaching method wherein only an “expert” teacher

Basically, the Dynamic Learning Program is an activity based multi- domain learning
program that requires students to work independently to discover and understand the
lesson by reading concept notes and doing exercises before it is discussed and
explained. For me the best appropriate method of that case is the conducting a survey
or questionnaire or maybe the use of an instrument of checklists or the like scale
because in that way we can identify or determine the good and bad suggestion and
opinions of the students when the school regulates the DLP.
delivers/explains the lesson. The expert is the only person allowed to answer questions
about the lesson. Then all the activities are handled by “facilitators” (teachers also), whose
primary role is to manage the class while the class is working on their activities about the
lesson taught by the “expert”. The facilitators are not allowed to answer questions about
the lesson since the facilitators may have different subject expertise, and not the same
subject as the activity being proctored.

2. Among several action of the eight grade, one section is noted when it comes to
misbehaving. This section is composed of varied of types of students, above average,
average, and below average. The challenge is that the academic performance of the class
is affected due to misbehaving students. How can affective assessment methods help to
improve the situations?

In my perspective, the assessment methods can help to improve the situation through everyday
interacting about what feelings they had and to the certain situation and the assessment will
always interconnected with the like and dislike of the students so that we can determine how
we can deal to this learners’ likes and dislikes, this must be also related to the real life situation
that a student is experiencing in order for them to relate with the situation and it must contains
exact level of difficulties when a teacher or instructor knows the limitation of his/ her students.
Aside from it, to improve the situation, teachers must talk to students seriously and make them
realize that misbehaving is not good, and it might drag the academic performance because of
misbehaving behavior, correct them quietly, away from their peers. This also can be preventing
from feeling a need to continue acting out to prove something to their friends. Be firm not just
a fearless but instead a firm with a kind approachable with the students, try to have a
communication between them. Teachers can also provide an instrument such as the checklist,
likert scale, or student self- report to determine the feelings or emotions of them so that we can
assess them easily, assess their values, interest, and emotions and moral characters. Basically,
the affective assessment is very useful to know about what interest and what makes the learners
interested to the class.

D. Based on the chosen method of the two scenarios cited (letter C), continue the process
of affective assessment by selecting the appropriate assessment tools in relation to the
chosen methods for each scenario. Discuss why you have chosen the assessment tool(s)
for that particular approach. (20 points)

In educational the assessment tools help instructors evaluate students’ knowledge and make
informed decisions that improve their learning experience. Assessment tools help participants
measure their progress towards specific outcomes and modify their behavior to meet those
goals. However, assessment is accurate, consistent and repeatable. Feasible of assessment is
practicable in terms of time, resources, and student numbers. Educational impact of
assessment results in learning what is important and is authentic and worthwhile.
As individuals, we constantly evaluate our decisions and options to know how well they meet
specific goals, hence assessment. However, in formal contexts like schools and the
workplace, assessments happen on a larger scale, and you need particular tools to pull them
off. Therefore, a good assessment tool should provide a window for high-quality feedback. It
is feasible and accounts for equivalence. It should motivate participants to be involved in the
testing. It should be transparent, non-discriminatory, and match expectations.

APPLY:
A. Apply the concept discussed about the affective domain of the taxonomy od educational
objectives in the given situation by crafting affective objectives correctly. The objectives
must be measurable. Use the template provided for your answer.
Situation:
The school, being sectarian wants to ensure that their graduates will embody the
character traits that are expected of their graduates. As such, the presidents gave an instruction
that religion must be integrated in all subjects and not just during religion class.
As a teacher, what and how will you support this direction of the school president
so that it will be realized, focusing on the affective domain of the students?

Levels Measurable affective objectives (2 points each)

Receiving (attending) Affective objective: basically, students should pay attention to
what the president says, so that they were informed to what to
be occurred in the future. And so, kids should pay attention since
it demonstrates their readiness on what they need to do. And as
a result, the teacher should observe whether the lesson is correct
or not.
Responding Affective objective: the students, should raise hand if they have
concerned of what the president trying to implement, informing
he president of their dissatisfaction of what the president issued.
Valuing Affective objective: since it talks about the religion, we must first
obtain the approval of the parents, and observe student’s
response regarding this issue.
Organizing Affective objective: we must explore why it is necessary to
combine religion so that they can better understand the president
instruction.
characterizing by a value Affective objective: it is our responsibility to follow the order of
concept the president as a teacher, however, we also must consider the
thoughts, opinions of others especially the response of the
students.

B. Using his graphic organizer, write your own ideas about the important of affective argets
in learning. (5 points each)
Affective Targets

Why is affective target important?

It's important to understand affective targets, particularly for those of us who plan to become
teachers in the future. Our ability to address both the students' academic performance and
attitudes toward learning will be improved by the determination of the affective targets. Since
there are so many different students in one class, managing their performance can be difficult.
However, once a teacher is aware of the affective targets, managing the students' performance
becomes easier because they can be approached according to their personalities, which is
essential for facilitating learning among diverse students.

What problem can I anticipate in setting affective targets?

By establishing an emotive target, I can foresee issues with the students' performance. A
significant component influencing a student's academic achievement is the affective domain.
The students' internal variables, such as their emotions, fall under the affective domain. It is one
method of identifying a student's weakness and is also helpful in creating assignments that use
the student's weakness as a tool for completion of the assignment. Gradually, this method will
assist a student in overcoming their deficiencies.
How will the students benefit?

If we identify the affective aim, the learner will gain a lot. Since the learner will understand that
he or she is capable of handling the difficulties and conditions that arise in life, the student will
become intrinsically motivated. Because of the faith and confidence in his personality that will
enable him to learn and communicate his learning, a student's courage is also required for him
or her to succeed academically.
