❖ State Crop:- Soybean (Madhya Pradesh is the largest producer of soybean in India.)
Note:-
➢ Soya State - Due to Madhya Pradesh being the largest producer of soybean in
India.
➢ Tiger State - As per the 2022 Tiger Census, Madhya Pradesh has the highest
number of tigers in the country, with 785 tigers (total in India: 3,682).
(International Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29.)
➢ Heart of India - Just as the heart is important for the body, Madhya Pradesh is
important for India as many rivers, roads and railways originate from here. This
nickname was given by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
➢ Mother of Rivers - Madhya Pradesh is a hilly and plateau region from where
many rivers originate, hence it is called the "Mother of Rivers".
➢ Tendu Leaf State - This state produces 60% of India's total tendu leaves, which
are used to make bidis (local cigarettes).
➢ State of Forests - As per the Forest Status Report 2021, Madhya Pradesh has a
forest area of 77,493 sq km, which is the largest in India.
➢ State of Parks (National Parks) - Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of
national parks in the country, with a total of 11.
➢ Leopard State - As per the 2022 report, Madhya Pradesh has the highest
population of leopards in India, with 3,907 leopards.
➢ Cheetah State - Madhya Pradesh became the first state in India to reintroduce
cheetahs, with 8 cheetahs initially brought from Namibia.
➢ Tribal State - Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of tribal communities in
India, giving it the title of "Tribal State".

➢ District with lowest population - Harda.
➢ District with lowest area - Bhopal.
❖ In the present scenario
➢ The district with the lowest population is - Pandhurna.
➢ The district with the lowest area is - Niwari.
❖ Internal districts of Madhya Pradesh (whose border does not touch other states) - 18
districts - Gwalior, Vidisha, Ujjain, Dhar, Indore, Dewas, Shajapur, Sehore, Bhopal,
Raisen, Hoshangabad, Harda, Damoh, Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Maihar and
Umaria.
❖ Area of Madhya Pradesh - 3,08,252 sq km (9.38% of the total area of India.)
❖ The Tropic of Cancer passes through 14 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
❖ The standard meridian of India is 82°30'E, which passes through the only district of
Madhya Pradesh, Singrauli. (It passes through 5 states of India - Uttar Pradesh,
Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh)
