Assessment of Cognitive Abilities

Introduction: The historical background of the battery is discussed. Discuss about types.
Purpose and sample on whom it was administered. Psychometric properties. Advantages and
disadvantages.
Review of Literature: 5 studies. Reviewing the research literature means finding, reading, and
summarizing the published research relevant to Bhatia’s Battery. An empirical report needs to be
written in American Psychological Association (APA) style.
Methodology
Aims/ Objectives: This will basically consist of the main objectives or purpose of the battery.
Materials: List all the materials.
Proforma of the Subject: It contain all the detailed information about the participant such as:

Date of Birth:
Age:
Gender:
Educational Qualification:
Occupation:
Religion:
Language:
Place:
Time:
Procedure: Write detailed procedure for each test in Bhatia’s Battery. Rapport building,
administration, instructions, etc.
Controls: (number them).
Introspective Report: After completion of the test by the participant, an introspective report
is to be taken from the participant. The report will include feelings overall experience &
difficulties (if any) faced by the participant. The report is to be written in practicum notebook
in first person only.
Observation Report: During the test administration the experimenter has to observe the
subject & record the behavioral observation, which can be used in writing the report if any
major is seen.
Analysis of the Results: After the participant completes the test, the answer sheet is to bescored
with the help of the scoring key and the data is to be interpreted with the help of the norms
given in the manual. The scores can then be mentioned and interpreted under this heading.
Tables/ Figures :- Any tables/figures/diagrams to be drawn in pencil on blank page with proper
title andnumber.
Discussion: You will discuss the result based on the interpretation. It maybe further analysed in
the light of the introspective report.
Conclusion: Under this heading, you will conclude the findings of the test based on the
subject’s scores in terms of norms
Recommendations: Recommendations are based on the results of your experiment and indicate
the specific measures or directions that can be taken. For example, an experiment might have
implications for poor quality of life and might recommend concrete steps/actions that can be
taken. (MSc Psychology and MSc Wellness Counselling students to write them accordingly).
References (APA style): The books, websites and the manual referred to by the learner are
mentionedin American Psychological Association (APA)format 7 th Edition. References have
to be written in APA format. These should be listed alphabetically.
