RSW-1
makes up the trunk and branches. In particular wood refers to the lignified tissues, known as xylem,
which carry out significant responsibilities for conducting water, storage, and providing structural
support within the trunk of the tree's, branches, and roots (cabalu, 2024).
TYPES OF WOOD
HARD WOOD
SOFT WOOD
HARD WOOD- Typically broad-leafed and shed their leaves annually. Hardwoods are known for their
density, durability, and strength, making them suitable for a wide range of applications in construction,
furniture-making, flooring, and decorative elements.
HARD WOOD
SOFT WOOD- Timber derived from gymnosperm trees—usually evergreen conifers like pine, fir, spruce,
and cedar—is referred to as softwood. Softwood is not always "soft" despite its name, which
distinguishes it from hardwood, which is found in broad-leaved or angiosperm trees. Softwood's
availability, workability, and affordability make it a popular choice for construction, furniture production,
and other industrial applications.
SOFT WOOD-
HARDBOARD
Hardboard is similar to particle board and medium-density fiberboard, but is denser, stronger and harder
because it is made out of exploded wood fibers that have been highly compressed.
LAMINATED
Depending on its intended purpose, timber boards of various sizes and shapes are typically glued in
parallel to create laminated wood. The primary output consists of load-bearing components like arches
and beams. Sometimes, specialized products (including furniture, sporting goods, and novelty items) are
made using veneers that are parallel-glued.
PLYWOOD-Plywood is a composite material made from thin wood veneer "plies" that have been adhered
to one another via stacking. It is an engineered wood that belongs to the same family of produced
boards as particle board (also known as chipboard), plywood, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and
oriented strand board (OSB).
PARTICLE BOARD- Particle board, also called chipboard, is a wood-based panel created by compressing
wood chips and synthetic resin under heat.
In addition, according to M.T. Copeland Technologies (2017), Wood is one of the oldest building materials
used by mankind. Wood is more often used by almost all people to build houses. Due to the lightweight
nature of wood, it is easy for people to construct the ideal structure of a building in which it has an
aesthetic texture, relaxing surroundings, and high resistance from heat. Wood has a disadvantage, which
is that it is prone and easily to burn, unlike concrete and steel.
