Lionbridge OPI Language Assessment Instructions

Thank you for confirming your interest in joining us as a Freelance Over the Phone Interpreter. In
this next step, you are required to complete our Language Assessment Test before proceeding
to the final steps in the onboarding process. This is a unique test link assigned specifically to you
and will expire three business days from the day you receive the link to access it.

To assist you and prepare you to take the assessment quickly, comfortably, and confidently,
please review the information below prior to starting your assessment.

About the Language Assessment


• You will be using an external testing website called O.W.L. to take the assessment. You
will need to click on the registration link provided in the email you received from your
recruiter and create a username/password before beginning your assessment.

• The assessment has two sections and lasts roughly 45 minutes in total. The assessment
MUST be completed in one sitting, so please ensure that you are prepared to fully
complete it prior to starting your assessment.
o Please Note: Closing your web browser before completing the assessment will
result in a failing score.

• Google Chrome is the recommended browser for the O.W.L. platform and working
speakers and internet connection are required. Internet Explorer/Microsoft Edge is
NOT compatible with the platform.

• If you experience technical difficulties during the process, please follow the
troubleshooting steps using the following link. Contact your Recruiter directly if your issues

• Translate any English terminology into your working language(s) with the help of a
bilingual dictionary and other specialized dictionaries including online dictionaries and/or
glossaries.

Completing the Assessment - You Will be Tested on the Follow:


• Sight Translation: You will be asked to read two sections; one in English and one in your
target language. Once you review these sections, you will be asked to recite them back to
the computer.

• Consecutive Interpretation: You will be asked to interpret throughout various scenarios,


across topics such as medical, social service, or general customer service.
