고체역학 - Report #2 (2014)

담당교수 채영석
1. The floor crane is used to lift a 600-kg concrete pipe. Find the internal force acting on hydraulic cylinder CA.
(Ans.      )

2. The structure is loaded as in figure. Determine the tension of member CD. (Ans.     )

3. A ladder consisting of two equal parts AB and AC hinged together at A and connected by a string DE, rests on
a smooth floor. Determine the tension T in the string by the applied load P.
(Assume,                    ) (Ans.      )

4. The structure has four members as shown. A 600-lb horizontal force is acting to a pin A. Determine the
minimum diameter for pin E if it is in the double shear and the shear strength of failure is limited to 4000 psi if
a safety factor of 4. (Ans.    in )

5. The tie rod AB and the bolts are made of steel, for which the yield strengths are 250 MPa in tension and 150
MPa in shear, and the ultimate strengths are 450 MPa in tension and 270 MPa in shear. Determine
(a) the minimum diameter d1 for tie rod AB if a factor of safety of 2.5 with respect to failure by slip is specified.
(b) the minimum diameter d2 for the bolt at C if a factor of safety of 3.5 with respect to failure by fracture is
specified. (Ans.     )

( FBD of bar BDE )

∑F x =0 ; B x+ 45 R CD -2353=0
∑F y =0 ; B y - 35 R CD = 0
∑Mz) D = 0 ; 2353×5+ B x×12= 0
∴ B x = -980.4 ( lb)
R CD = 4167 ( lb)
R y = 2500 ( lb)
3.
(FBD of total frame)

∑F y = R B + R C - p = 0
∑MZ) C = P⋅a cos α - R B⋅l = 0
∴ R B = al cos α⋅P = 0.35P
(FBD of bar AC)
R C = 0.65P

∑MZ) A = 0.65P×5 - P×3× 12 - T ×5 = 0

∴ T = 0.35 P
