MRI LUMBAR SPINE

Clinical info : Chronic backache

Multiplanar, multisequential, non-contrast MR study of lumbar spine

Report
Straightening of lumbar lardosis is noted due to muscular spasm
Transitional vertibra is seen at Lumbo-sacral junction. For reporting purposes, it is taken as S1
Partial disk dehydration is seen at multilevel
Scoliosis is seen with convexity towards right
Slight retrolisthesis is seen at L3-4
Grade 1 Spondylolisthesis is seen at L4-5
L1-2 There is no significant bulge noted. Bilateral neural foramina appear intact. Facet joints are
unremarkable
L3-4 Mild broad base disk bulge is seen causing effacement of right lateral recess. Facet joints are
unremarkable
L4-5 Circumferential disk bulge is seen causing effacement of right lateral recess. Facet joints are
unremarkable
L5-S1 Broad base disk bulge is seen causing effacement of right lateral recess. Facet joints are
unremarkable
Degenerative end plate osteophytes are seen at multilevel.
Bony spine is otherwise intact without any fractures or marrow abnormality
No evidence of intra or extradural abnormal MRI signal is noted and conus medullaris, cauda equina &
nerve roots have abnormal MRI signal
No pre or paravertebral soft tissue mass

Doctor's Name: Dr. Purushottam MD

Specialty: Consultant Radiologist

Patient Name: SAMMED VIJAY BIRAJE

Age/Sex: 26/Male
Date of Prescription: 28-09-2024

Clinical Information: Chronic backache

Prescription:
After evaluating the patient's condition and symptoms, including chronic backache and associated
clinical details, I am recommending a lumbar spine MRI. The scan shows notable findings such as:

- Straightening of lumbar lordosis due to muscular spasm

- Transitional vertebra at the lumbo-sacral junction (S1)
- Multilevel partial disk dehydration
- Scoliosis with right convexity
- Retrolisthesis at L3-4 and Grade 1 spondylolisthesis at L4-5
- Disk bulges with mild broad base and circumferential bulges causing effacement of lateral recesses,
particularly at L3-4, L4-5, and L5-S1 levels

Impression and Suggested Management:

- Muscular spasm-related straightening of the spine
- Mild to moderate disk bulging at multiple levels with neural impact, primarily affecting the right lateral recess
at specified lumbar levels
- Suggested follow-up with a spine specialist for further management options, which may include physical therapy,
pain management, and potentially surgical consultation if symptoms persist or worsen.

Please review this MRI report with a specialist to discuss potential interventions.
