INTRODUCTION
Drawing, the art or technique of producing images
on a surface, usually paper, by means of marks,
usually of ink, graphite, chalk, charcoal, or crayon.
DRAWING
Drawing is a fundamental and timeless form of
visual art that allows individuals to express their
creativity, observations, and ideas through the
use of lines, shapes, and other visual elements.
It is a skill that transcends cultures and
has been practiced by humans for
thousands of years, dating back to
prehistoric cave paintings.
Today, drawing remains a vital part
of various artistic disciplines, from
fine art and illustration to design
and animation.
DISEGNO
Disegno, from the Italian word for drawing,
carries a more complex meaning in art, involving
both the ability to make the drawing and the
intellectual capacity to invent the design.
Drawing is usually the first step to planning many
artworks. These are usually called sketches.

Why drawing is important
for multimedia arts?
Drawing can help us on many different
occasions, not only in the creative
process but as a representation. It’s one
of the first forms of art that everyone can
access to express themselves even
unconsciously.
Foundation for Visual
Communication
Drawing serves as a foundational skill
for multimedia artists. It allows them
to convey ideas, concepts, and stories
through visual imagery, which is
fundamental in projects.
Storyboarding
Drawing is often used in the
creation of storyboards for
projects. Storyboards help plan
and visualize scenes,
transitions, and compositions,
ensuring that the final product
effectively communicates the
desired message or narrative.
Character Design
It frequently involve the creation of
characters for animations, video
games, or interactive media. The
ability to draw allows artists to
conceptualize and develop unique
and visually appealing characters.
Concept Art
Concept artists often rely on
drawing to bring initial ideas
and concepts to life. Whether
designing environments, props,
or creatures, drawing helps
artists explore and refine their
creative concepts.
Visual Development
Artists are tasked with creating a
consistent visual style and world for
projects like animated films or video
games. Drawing skills are essential for
developing and maintaining this visual
coherence throughout the project.
Texture and Detail
By drawing, artists are able to
master the intricacies of
textures, shading, and fine
details, which are crucial for
creating realistic or stylized
visual elements in multimedia.
User Interface
(UI) Design
In interactive multimedia, such as
mobile apps or Web Design, UI
design plays a significant role.
Drawing skills are valuable for
sketching out user interface layouts
and icons that are both functional
and visually appealing.
Creativity and
Problem-Solving
Drawing encourages creative
thinking and problem-solving.
Multimedia artists often
encounter challenges in creating
visual content that effectively
conveys information or emotions,
and drawing skills enable them to
experiment with different
solutions.
Hand-Eye Coordination
The development of drawing skills can
enhance an artist's hand-eye
coordination, which can be advantageous
when working with digital tools and
equipment commonly used in
production.

personal expression. Multimedia
