Recent, end of 2024: Just adding that this is by far the best option. Free, instant
download. Works great on macbook. Instantly added entire seasons of shows and it
R ES O U R CES converted from torrent ->mkv. Then used Handbrake to convert to Mp4

About Reddit
Press Unfortunately, Transmission just hangs up my mac Mini and drops connections down to 0
when there is a decent amount of peers connected (not a huge amount, but like 50+). It's
kind of annoying and you cannot access the system remotely during this period of time as
Communities well as it slows down download quite a bit. Remote UI is also quite incapable.

i heard great things about qBittorrent but after i read that i came here to find an alt

Thanks for the update! I haven’t actually used it in a few years but this is good info to
have. It worked well from me when I used it but I’ll look for something else if I need a
torrent app again.

i think the general consensus is that transmission is the best for intel macs, folx
is the best for silicon macs, and qbittorrent is best for windows.
i actually was taught how to torrent on qbittorrent - i originally learned how from
a guy at my mom's office lol

qbittorrent worked well for me for a long time until it just didn't

Also, for me, it'll just stop working randomly until I restart my Mac. Also, sometimes it
will tell me "Error: End of File" and it's annoying to keep having to Force Resume it
until it works again, and even then sometimes it will say 100% completed but there
will be some files that are stuck at like 99%, even if I delete the torrent and try
redownloading those files.

I think that both qbittorrent and transmission are good, but if you’re an Apple silicon user I’d go
with qbittorrent because the transmission silicon version is still in beta

The macOS version is barely supported, because we don't have active macOS
developers/contributors.The project is in need of macOS developers. If you are a
macOS developer willing to help, just go to our bug tracker for a list of macOS
related issues. Or try to fix bugs that you yourself have discovered and annoy you.

I've used for several years Vuze.. it's easy, clean, fast.. give it a try :)

I've used Vuze for at least 7 years and never had a problem. Then I had to reinstall my Mac
OS system, and now Vuze will not communicate upload or download. The app runs, but
nothing happens. I've tried a few times to reinstall, but the same thing happened. Still,
great software; tracks all DLs so you never duplicate; it's faster than BitTorrent or
Transmission, and while the paid version adds functionality, the free version does
everything you need. I will say, because of my tech issue, I've switched to Transmission,
and it works well, too, but it's not as easy to use. For example, when you delete an item in
Vuze, the file will auto-delete from the download folder. Transmission makes you find it
and move it to the trash. Vuze lets you create DL libraries and gives you all kinds of
information about torrents. You can also search for downloads right in Vuze, though I can't
vouch for that function because I don't use it. The learning curve is a little steeper than
Transmission, but it's worth it.

Same here. Vuze has been seamless and problem free for the past 4.5 years since I
migrated to the Mac from PC. I am about to buy the M4 Macbook when it comes out
and I hope Vuze will still work.

Transmission is great but lacks Proxy support. Because of that I moved to Folx, their free
version does the job and supports proxy.

Folx crashes a lot on beta OS builds and isn't currently working on my setup, intel. FDM Is
usually the best but also has been unstable with my setup. been using a Ramdisk to
download to, apple ssd being what it is.

Folx works fine on my M1 iMac, but hangs my Intel Mac mini every time there is a big
file (lots of parts, lots of file handles). When it hangs, it is impossible to recover
without a hard boot of the Mac, which is a pain. The developer's support is very
patchy.

How is you M! mac fairing so far? Any issues with downloading large torrent
files? I'm thinking of purshasing an Mac mini instead of macbook to save some
$$$. I mainly use my MAc to DL 4k movies and TV shows via torrent.
