TOPIC LESSON PLAN

Campus:
Teacher: Miss: Rehmat Month: September
Subject: Mathematics Week: 3rd week
Unit/Chapter: Angles Date: 17/9/2024 -18/9/2024
Topic: Complementary and Supplementary Angles Duration: 2 Days

Student Learning Outcomes: By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
 Identify Complementary and Supplementary Angles based on their relative positions
 to calculate the measure of a missing angle when given the measure of its complementary or supplementary
angle.
Resources: Teaching Protractor, marker ,white board, maths book,
Aids

Guide: This specific template should include an outline for each topic within a unit/chapter. The topic outline may span
over 2-3 days or longer, depending on the complexity and depth of the subject matter, covering all the attributes given
below. Upon completion of the unit, Unit Written Test will also be incorporated into the plan.
Lesson Plan Attributes
Motivation/Anticipation: Mind Maps, Brainstorming, KWL Chart, Recall, Intriguing or probing questions/images, etc.
The connection of what student already knows to what he/she is going to learn today!
Introduction: An overview of what the lesson is about and what it aims to accomplish.
Methodology: Teaching & Learning Activities; discussions, group or peer activities, multimedia presentations, learning
stations, practical etc. Step by step explanation of what will happen in the process!
Assessment: To Assess whether learning objectives have been met. Self-Assessment, Peer Assessment, Q/A, Worksheet,
Quiz, etc
Conclusion/ Wrap-up: To allow students/teacher reflect on their understanding/teaching.
Reflection activity/ Revisit KWL Chart / Mini Quiz, Flash review of the lesson etc
Homework:

Lesson Outline Time

Attributes that are bold in each day are advised to be compulsory on respective days. Breakup
Day 1and Day 1 40/70
mins
Motivation/Anticipation: Review the concept of angles. Ask students to define an angle and identify its 10 mins
components (vertex, rays). You can use real-life examples like clock hands or corners of a book.
Introduction: Briefly discuss how angles are measured in degrees. Demonstrate how to use a protractor (if 10 mins
using one) to measure an angle.
Methodology: Explain that complementary angles are two angles that add up to 90 degrees (a right angle). 20 mins
Use diagrams or illustrations to show visually. Do the same for supplementary angles, explaining they add up to
180 degrees (a straight line)
Assessment: Exit Ticket: Distribute a quick exit slip with one or two questions. For example, ask students to 15 mins
identify a complementary or supplementary angle from a given diagram or calculate the missing angle measure
based on the information provided. This helps gauge student understanding of the lesson concepts.
Conclusion/ Wrap-up: Review Key Points: Briefly summarize the main concepts covered in the lesson - 15 mins
defining complementary and supplementary angles, identifying them by position, and calculating missing angle
measures.
Homework: Ex 7a Q7 (a, b, c, d), Q8 (a, b, c, d) 10 mins

Written Test:
 If one complementary angle measures 25 degrees, what is the measure of the other complementary 20 mins
angle? Also draw angles
 If one supplementary angle measures 110 degrees, what is the measure of the other supplementary
angle? Also draw angles
