Introduction
Internet Information Services (IIS) for Windows® Server is a flexible, secure and manageable web server for hosting
anything on the Web. From media streaming to web applications, the scalable and open architecture pertinent to IIS is
ready to handle the most demanding tasks.

Exact Synergy Enterprise relies heavily on Microsoft Internet Information Services. Windows Server 2016 or 2019
does not install Internet Information Services (IIS) by default. The following steps explain how to install IIS on
Windows Server 2016 or 2019.

Installing IIS on Windows Server 2016 or 2019


1. Go to Start and type “Server Manager”, and then select Server Manager.
2. In the Server Manager screen, click the Manage menu, and then click Add Roles and Features.
3. The Add Roles and Features wizard will start with the Before You Begin screen.
4. In the Before You Begin screen, click Next.
5. In the Installation Type screen, select Role-based or feature-based installation and click Next.
6. In the Server Selection screen, select Select a server from the server pool, and then select a
server. Click Next.
7. In the Server Roles screen, select Web Server (IIS). Click Next.
8. In the Add Roles and Features wizard, click Add Features to install the IIS Management Console, and
then click Next.
9. In the Select features screen, select:
.NET Framework 4.6 (.NET Framework 4.7 Features for Windows Server 2019) - WCF Services - HTTP
Activation
2. Click Next.
3. In the Web Server Role (IIS) screen, click Next.
4. In the Role Services screen, select the following, as a minimum:
Common HTTP Features:
Common HTTP Features - Static Content
Security:
Security - Basic Authentication
Security - Windows Authentication
Application Development:
Application Development - .NET Extensibility 3.5
Application Development - .NET Extensibility 4.6 (.NET Extensibility 4.7 for Windows Server 2019)
Application Development - ASP
Application Development - ASP .NET 3.5
Application Development - ASP .NET 4.6 (ASP .NET 4.7 for Windows Server 2019)
Application Development - ISAPI Extension
Application Development - ISAPI Filters
Management Tools:
Management Tools - IIS Management Console
Management Tools - IIS Management Scripts and Tools
Management Tools - Management Service
Management Tools - IIS 6 Management Compatibility
