Network Virtualization Engineer

Job Description

As an Enterprise Network Virtualization Engineer, you will be engaged with cutting edge designing,
implementation, problem solving and troubleshooting NSX products and services. You will be
responsible to provide technical support to both staff and customers who are working to implement
VMware NSX platform and related products.

If you are passionate about Networking, Security, Cloud automation and Virtualization and want to use
your core networking skills of products like Cisco, Juniper, Palo alto etc., then this is the place you want to
be.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work
toward completing?

 Within 30 days of employment, become competent with basis Data center fundamentals, VMware
network virtualization guidelines and standard operations.
 Withing 90 days you will become a trained engineer on NSX products’ implementation, configuration,
management and understanding its platform architecture and design
 In 180 days, you will be in a position to attend customers on low severity cases and help them rectify the
issues related to NSX products and become a break-fix asset to the technical team.
 Within 360 days along with the above, you will be a trained professional in troubleshooting NSX
products and attend production impact issues and become an independent Network virtualization
break-fix professional.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be
performing on a regular basis?

Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a
variety of the following assignments:

 Troubleshoot, analyze, investigate and fix NSX related issues.


 Respond to customer inquiries - via email and telephone.
 Work on Sev1 to Sev5 break-fix cases under Salesforce CRM tool
 Be an advocate for network virtualization, educate GSS on the NSX platform
 Mentor and provide training to other technical GS staff in Network troubleshooting topics.
 Own and drive the Customer Experience throughout the lifecycle of the Service Request to resolution.
 Resolve all Technical issues through diligent research, reproduction, and troubleshooting.
 Work directly with staff in quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and
administration to resolve problems
 Document all technical inquiries; develop and review content for knowledgebase.
 Participate in testing alpha and beta products and provide feedback to Engineering.
 Troubleshoot and engage with NSX Engineering on customer reported issues, including identifying viable
workarounds.
 Travel to Customer sites and represent VMware GSS

Where is this role located?


Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and
remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager.
