Rooms Around Undergrove Area:

East/South: Unfinished Caverns


Inhabited by cave life, possibly including satellite groves or murky
pools.

West/North: Rough Chambers


Mixed living areas (sleeping areas, food preparation) and storage
rooms. Style is crudely-reshaped natural caverns, rather than
finished construction.

Higher ground is at least 10 feet higher than lower ground, forming


two distinct sublevels. Optionally, increase height to 50-60 feet to
link two levels.

Rotate directions as desired. Surrounding areas occupied by Higher Ground (Upper Half of map): Cavern with irregular 10
monsters below (2 in 6,) half have listed treasure. Cross off to 15 foot ceiling. Tunnels extending to north and west are
each treasure as it is found. Also use this table for 10-foot diameter tubes. Southern section is a ledge
wandering monsters in central region. overlooking the Grove. On a roll of 6 (1d6), the Caretaker is
resting in the nearby chamber, emerging to investigate
sounds in either this area or the Grove, lowering a rope

ladder if necessary.

1 3d6 large ants 300 sp in small sack Caretaker is hostile if intruders threaten the plants in the
grove. If a party calls out a greeting or otherwise

Grove (Lower Ground area): Cavern with 20 to 25-foot
4 moth swarm 200 sp 60 gp in trapped ceiling. Pale bamboo-like stalks with bone-white grapefruit-
box sized gourds are sprouting from cracks in the floor.

Giant Putrefying Centipedes may emerge from cracks if

result means no centipedes for now, but roll again.
Large Ant (mouse-sized): HD d6/3, sting does 1 hp +
poison (1d6 damage), summon 3d6 ants every 3 minutes Putrefying Centipede (Monstrous Bug)
Giant Ant (cat-sized): HD d6, 1d6 damage + poison HD 3+2, AC 5, Move 12; half damage, paralyze, putrefy
Moth Swarm: HD 1 (entire swarm,) no damage, but confuse
victims and devour straps in 1d6+2 minutes unless dispersed Centipede plant guardians paralyze victims for half an hour
Large Spider: HD 1+1, poison (+1d6 damage) on a failed save. If victims aren't rescued in that time,
Caretaker (Chaotic Humanoid) centipedes will inject a rapid putrefying venom to break
HD 3+1, AC 9, Move 12; animate plants, summon swarm down flesh, feeding themselves and their host plants.

Larger than human-sized robed “underworld Chaos druid” Gourds break easily and contain pulp and liquid. Roll for
wielding a sickle. Can animate plants to seize and bind effect:
opponents, summon moth swarm or large ants. If not all 1-4 Edible: Each fruit is d6/2 days' rations
opponents are bound, will call for help from neighboring living
areas, then summon swarm. 5 Fermented: Confuse 1 hour. 5+ on d6: heal 1 point.
6 Poison: 1d6 damage to those splashed, double if
Caretaker is an unusually large member of whatever drunk
monster type the GM chooses as the primary inhabitants of
the areas north and west of the Undergrove. These
inhabitants don't wander through the area, however, unless Caretaker's Quarters (NE Quadrant): Chest contains 2d6
answering the Caretaker's call for help. gems (base value 50 gold,) spare robes, pack of 2d6 edible
gourds, and rope ladder
