TECHNICAL REPORT
1. Generalities
Power risers to every floor are furnished in single duct. Final installation location
of these panels (MDB) shall be decided at later stage.
The low voltage LV distribution system shall be 3-phase + Neutral + Earth. All
Distribution Boards to be 3-phase 400/240V for lighting / main motors and for
power final or branch circuits/ motors unless specifically stated otherwise.
Voltage drop limits:
A maximum total of 10% voltage drop from the main supply
"Transformer" up to the farthest point of the network: 2% feeders,
6% branch circuits.
All local bonding is made to this main earth bar. All other system-bonding
conductors are also terminated here, which include lightning arrester system
earthing, data/telecom system, etc. The anticipated earth resistance is five ohms
max.
The low voltage system on the client side is earthed at the MDBs earth terminals
inside the boards. In all other sub-distribution boards the neutral and earth
terminals shall be isolated.
The sub main distribution boards are bonded through earth bonding conductors
equal in size with the neutral conductors derived from the MDBs earth terminal.
All other sub-distribution boards shall be bonded through earth continuity
conductors derived from their respective power source panel.
If the feeder cable size is less than or equal to 25mm² the earth conductor is part
of the cable. In all other cases, the earth conductor is run parallel to the power
cable.
2 Power Supply
The building power supply will be achieved by low voltage 630KVA CSS
(compact sub-station), delta-stars with solidly earthed neutral. Transformer
should be manufactured and tested in compliance with IEC 60076, and
CENELEC HD398-1 to HD398-5.
The Low Voltage Switchgear shall meet the IEC 60947 requirements. The LV
switchboard designated as the main distribution Board (MDB) shall be of the
cubicle type suitable for front access and for use on 400V, 3-phases, 50Hz.
The Main MDB (CMDB) shall be provided with an ammeter and voltmeter with
phase selection switches, power factor meters and protection fuses.
The low voltage power distribution system throughout the building shall be via
PVC sheathed PVC insulated power cables of 0.6/1KV insulation strength except
the main cable feeder from the transfer switch in the generator set room up-to
the main distribution boards MDB is PVC sheathed and XLPE insulated. Cable
runs from the main floor distribution board’s up-to the various sub-distribution
boards shall be mainly inside vertical riser ducts fixed to the duct walls on cable
ladder fixed by clamps at 50cm span.
Sub Distribution Boards (SDBs) are situated in suitable location in the on every
floor. Specialized services like lifts and pumps are provided with their own sub-
distribution panels through Main board MDB-GF located on the ground floor.
All sub distribution boards (SDBs) will be installed in accessible locations for
safety and operational requirements. They are fed from the MDB (MDB) in hot
dip galvanized cable trays minimum size of 300 x 60mm. The SDBs should be
made of sheet steel front doors and IP43 minimum protection with doors closed
and IP40 with doors open.
Further all final circuits are fed through PVC insulated HOV5-U conductors inside
PVC conduits of 16mm, 19mm, 21mm diameters as appropriate and as shown
on the drawings. Mostly single socket and partially twin socket outlets of
10/16A with grounding contact are provided in shops, commercial, bars, and
restaurants. All office areas furnished with twin socket and single socket outlets
of 10/16A screw fixed to 60mm diameter recess boxes.
The CMDB circuit breaker shall be equipped with long, short, and ground fault
protection; the branch circuit breakers shall have an instantaneous trip in
addition to those listed for the mains.
The Low Voltage switchgear bus and circuit breakers shall be rated for a short-
circuit fault level as required by to the incoming service.
The circuit breakers types shall be in accordance with the following standards:
Less than 1000 Amps- Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) as per IEC
60947-2
Less than 60 Amps - Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB) as per IEC 60947-2.
Bus bars and Bus bars’ connection shall be constructed in accordance with IEC
standards. Bus bars must be of rectangular section hard drawn high
conductivity copper, adequately rated and supported by Porcelain or molded
insulators spaced at suitable intervals. Bus bars shall be rated for a maximum
operating temperature of 90°C.
Cables shall be suitable for installation indoors and outdoors in metal trays,
conduits and underground conduit cache, in wet and dry locations.
Cables shall be rated for use at 75°C in wet locations and 90°C in dry locations.
Cables shall be clearly marked on the overall jacket, at maximum
intervals of 0.6m with the manufacturer’s name, year of manufacture,
voltage class, number and size of conductors and the serial number.
The feeders shall be single core or multi-core cables lay in galvanized steel
cable trays or in under floor conduits.
All cable penetrations through fire separation zones will be capped off
with fire stopping material.
6. Lighting
Type of Area
Illumination (lux)
Light fittings of the low energy consumption type are used wherever possible.
Lighting control generally will be by localized switches.
Light fittings and lamps used for this project are summarized below:
Type 1, Luminous flux 5200lm with LED 48W lamp (Office).
Type 2, Luminous flux 12800lm with LED 97W lamp (Factory).
Type 3, Luminous flux 1500lm with LED 15W lamp (Lobby and Corridor).
Type 4, Luminous flux 1200lm with LED 12W lamp (Toilet).
Type 5, Luminous flux 1350lm with LED 15W lamp (Toilet mirror).
Type 6, Luminous flux 1800lm with LED 20W lamp (Store).
Type 7, Luminous flux 5200lm with LED 48W lamp (Kitchen).
Type 8, Luminous flux 2400lm with LED 25W lamp (Cafe).
Type 9, Luminous flux 6500lm with LED 56W lamp (Tank Farm).
Type 11, Luminous flux 620lm with LED 18W lamp (External wall light).
Type 12, Luminous flux 10000lm with LED 100W lamp (Flood light).
To calculate the number of lamps from the requested average lighting level the formula below is used.
No.of Lamps = (Eavg x Area) / (UF x DF x ɸ)
Eavg = Average lighting level
Area = Area of room (m2)
U F = Utilization factor
DF = Distribution factor
ɸ = Luminous flux per lamp (lumen)
7. Telephone System
Telecom system provisions is made in the form of UTP, 4 pair, CAT 6 cabling from
tele/data boxes complete with wiring accessories. The provision will make
telephone connection at any place fast and simple. The telephone outlets are RJ-
11 type.

2 CONDUIT 16 201.1 1 0.47
3 CONDUIT 20 314.2 2 0.61
The telephone cable installed from riser shaft are laid on cable trays before
reaching their nod terminated inside PVC conduits of minimum size of 16mm
diameter.
The IRS system design is achieved by simply installing not more than three or
four Satellite dishes and one Terrestrial Antenna per building, connected to
signal amplifiers, and multi switches terminated to end TV socket- outlets
through splitters.
Wiring through coaxial cabling for standard transmission system. The design
begins from selecting its antenna system installation position and it shall be
installed with PVC insulated RG-59/U coaxial cable inside a minimum conduit
size of 19mm diameter, terminated to junction boxes at every floor.
Further the television system points distributed with the use of appropriate
numbers of splitters, which shall be installed as shown on the drawings with
PVC insulated RG6/U coaxial cables terminating each point in side PVC conduits
of minimum size of 16mm diameter.
The working principle of the system is that during Thunder storm conditions when
the lightning down-leader is approaching ground level, an upward leader may be
created by any conducive surface in case of passive lighting rod, the upward
leader propagate only after a long period of change reorganization in the case of
INTERCEPTION SI ESE, the initiation time of upward leader is greatly reduced.
SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS
Each down conductor requires a test clamp and dedicated earth system of 10
ohm or less. Should 10 ohms not be achievable, then 100m of buried conductor
