III. FUNDING AGENCY: Sangguniang Kabataan- Bulanao

IV. LOCATION OF THE PROJECT: Malalao, Tabuk City, Kalinga

V. PROJECT DURATION: October 19, 2024

VI. THEME: "Roots of Tomorrow: A Tree Planting Initiative"

VII. RATIONALE

Tree planting plays a critical role in promoting environmental

sustainability and engaging communities. With increasing concerns about
climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss, tree planting offers a
straightforward yet powerful solution.

Trees serve as natural carbon sinks by absorbing carbon dioxide

from the atmosphere and storing it, which helps mitigate greenhouse gas
concentrations and combat global warming. Moreover, tree planting
restores natural habitats for a wide range of species, supporting
biodiversity from birds and insects to mammals and microorganisms.
Efforts in reforestation and urban greening projects contribute to
ecosystem restoration, creating homes and food sources for wildlife
dependent on trees.

Trees also act as natural air purifiers, filtering pollutants such as

carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide while releasing
oxygen. Their root systems enhance water management by filtering and

absorbing rainfall, reducing runoff, and enhancing groundwater recharge.
This process supports healthier water systems and helps stabilize soil,
preventing erosion and reducing the risk of landslides. In flood-prone
areas, trees act as natural barriers, slowing down water runoff and
mitigating the impact of floods on homes, crops, and infrastructure.

Tree planting is a valuable investment in the future well-being of a

community, providing lasting environmental, social, and economic
benefits. It enhances the quality of life for today's residents and promotes
sustainability for future generations. By planting trees, communities create
healthier environments, foster social engagement, and support economic
growth, all while ensuring the long-term resilience of their ecosystems.

VIII. Objectives
In line with this, the PASOA will conduct tree planting activities to promote the
environmental advocacy of the Organization to:

 Increase forest cover: Help restore degraded areas and contribute to

biodiversity conservation.

 Combat climate change: Trees absorb carbon dioxide, helping mitigate

the effects of global warming.

 Improve air quality: Trees filter pollutants, improving air quality in urban
and rural areas.

 Soil erosion prevention: Roots bind the soil, reducing the risk of
landslides and water erosion.

 Water conservation: Trees improve water retention in the soil,

protecting water sources and reducing flood risks.
 Raise environmental awareness: Educate participants and the public
about the importance of environmental stewardship.

 Foster community spirit: Encourage teamwork and community

involvement in local environmental issues.

 Promote sustainability practices: Instill values and practices related to

conservation and sustainable living.

Tree planting activities can have long-term benefits, addressing critical

environmental challenges while building community resilience and
awareness.

IX. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY

These series of Tree Planting activities aim to influence not just the
student leaders but also the whole community of Brgy. Bulanao to ignite
the passion to save our environment and contribute to preserving our
natural surroundings. The said activity will help educate every student
leader on how vital these kinds of activities are in fighting various
environmental issues, and to promote the sense of care specially to the
mother nature.

Participants, including student leaders, are encouraged to voluntarily

engage in environmental activities as it encourages them to foster unity
and instill a sense of conservation and for a sustainable living. Through
this activity we envision a community of leaders as models in promoting
environmental awareness.

Through this activity we believe to inspire youths of today and enable
