○ For each of the Six Dimensions of Wellness, list an example of
something you are doing for your wellness that you perceive as
healthy? (e.g., Social Wellness - eat dinner with my housemates
every Sunday night; Environmental Wellness - ride my bike to work
regularly)
○ For each of the Six Dimensions of Wellness, list an example of a
behavior you'd like to improve? (e.g., Emotional Wellness - would
like to speak up more when my co-worker treats me badly;
Physical Wellness - need to drink more water to stay hydrated)
Health and wellness are basically ideas that bring a holistic view of being well,
focusing on both physical and mental aspects of life. Health is referring to your state of
being while wellness is more focused on the emotional aspect of things. Health is very
important to me because I make sure to eat the right foods before I finish heavy
physical activity. From the “Six Dimensions of Wellness” paper, one thing that I am
doing for my wellness is the concept of spirituality, and spiritual wellness, where it
comes to having a sense of purpose which is about bringing peace and harmony. I am
doing this with a want to actually do what I do which is the kinetic movements. The one I
am trying to improve is emotional wellness is to be able to react to things that I am not
particularly excited about. My emotional part is something I am always aware of and I
am trying to be on the positive side of emotional wellness, so I’m constantly trying to fix
up.
Health
Health typically refers to the state of being free from illness or injury and functioning
optimally across various aspects of life. It includes:
● Physical Health: Maintaining a body that is fit, resilient, and free from diseases.
This involves regular exercise, a balanced diet, adequate sleep, and routine
medical check-ups.
● Mental Health: Managing stress, maintaining emotional stability, and fostering a
positive outlook. This involves activities like self-care, therapy, and building
supportive relationships.
Wellness
Wellness is a broader concept that incorporates health but also emphasizes a proactive
approach to achieving a balanced and fulfilling life. It includes:
Importance of Health
Health is fundamental because it serves as the foundation for a fulfilling life. Without
good health, it can be challenging to pursue other goals, engage in meaningful
activities, or enjoy life fully. It affects every aspect of living, from productivity and
relationships to overall happiness.
Even though I don't have personal needs or experiences, I can see the critical role that
health and wellness play in enhancing quality of life and promoting long-term happiness.
Taking a holistic approach to health—one that includes physical, mental, and emotional
well-being—helps individuals lead more balanced and satisfying lives.
