❏ Vertical restraint straps are tight and hook & loop is affixed inside box (step 1.8)
❏ Bag is secured with a bag strap and no leaks are visible (step 3.8)
❏ All white marks on Skid, Box, and Cap are oriented in the same direction (step
1.2, 1.4 & 4.2)
❏ Elastic bands are properly installed: over cap and between skid board and box
(step 1.9 & 4.8)
❏ Two (2) Load Retention Blocks (LRBs) placed on top of unit (step 4.9)
Conditions:
Guardian units should be stored in a clean, dry, sunlight-protected location and in
temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4.4 degrees Celsius).

3. Draw bag towards Drain Wand to drain all contents from Unit. (Figure 4)
Figure 4
4. Dispose of bag in accordance with any instructions from the Material Safety Data
Sheet (MSDS) of the contents, if any.
2. Each Guardian unit will be inspected using the Guardian Assembly Checklist (Appendix A)
prior to the unit being loaded on the aircraft. After Guardian units are loaded on the aircraft
the rigged load must be given a complete and final inspection by a qualified person. The
loadmaster or designated aircrew member should inspect the Guardian containers. The load
inspection should include the following at a minimum:
2.1. Verify serviceability of load securing webbing, straps, hooks and covers.
2.2. Verify Guardian containers are rigged in accordance with applicable technical orders
and flight manuals.
2.3. Inspect forward restraint for correct installation and positioning on the first Guardian
unit (forward) in each row.
2.4. Affix two Buffer Blocks to rear/aft facing box wall of each box except the last box (aft
most) in the stick. Place each of the two Buffer Blocks on the corner of the top edge of
the bottom flap on the aft side of the unit (Figure 1) to fill the space between adjacent
Guardian units.
Figure 1
3.1. Affix one Load Retention Block (LRB) to the front side of the forward most box for each
Guardian unit in the stick. Example: for a stick of eight (8) units, use eight LRBs.
(Figure 2 & 3) Invert the LRBs so the larger side of the LRB is the same height as the
BSA restraint surface.
Figure 2 Figure 3
3.2. Affix one Load Retention Block (LRB) to the rear side of aft most box for each Guardian
unit in the stick. (Figure 4). Example: for a stick of eight (8) units, use eight LRBs. For a
stick of four (4) use four LRBs.
Figure 4
Affix one Load Retention Block (LRB) to the restraint facing side of the aft most and the
forward most box for each Guardian unit in the stick. (Figures 5 & 6). Example: for a
stick of eight (8) units, use eight; for a stick of six (6) use six.
