Understanding SUBTOPIC 1: the lesson.
EXPLICITATION
In our previous lessons we already tackled the different forms of
media and information. They are the text, visual, audio, motion,
manipulatives and multimedia. In this lesson we shall talk how
these dimensions are formally or informally produced, organized, and
disseminated.
 Informal - created by individuals often for personal use
 Formal - created by professionals who follow industry standards in
creating, editing, and producing the media.
 Produce
1. make or manufacture from components or raw materials.
2. cause (a particular result or situation) to happen or come into
existence.
 Organize – (adjective) arranged in a systematic way, especially on a
large scale.
• Disseminate - spread (something, especially information) widely.
• Electronic Portfolios- with the dawn of the digital age, portfolios have
really evolved. Rather than being limited to documents, drawings,
pictures, and other physical media, individuals can now highlight their
electronic work. Videos, audio, digital presentations, digital artwork,
electronic documents, animations, etc., all of these can now be included
within a portfolio in order to highlight a person’s skills, abilities, and
understanding in ways that traditional media cannot.
• A living museum, also known as a living history museum, is a type
of museum which recreates historical settings to simulate a past time
period, providing visitors with an experiential interpretation of history.[1]
It is a type of museum that recreates to the fullest extent conditions of a
culture, natural environment or historical period, is an example of living
history.

Media and information is not a single thing but a variety of things:

• On one dimension, it could be listed as going from entertaining to informative
• On another, it could go from being considered as purchased or subsidized Refer to the SLM being adopted for
• On a third axis, it could be treated as mass generated or professionalized Ways of the lesson.
producing media and information is thru:
• Mass media: radio, television, social media or web
• Print media: newspaper, magazines, books, journals, newsletter, emails,
infographics, poster, billboards, etc. As to dissemination: Purposes include informing,
educating, and selling. The ultimate purpose may be to change attitudes and
behaviors. Target audiences may be:
• policymakers, service providers, consumers, organizations, or
communities.
• varied ethnic or minority groups.
• may include a given socio-economic level, educational level, or special
interest category.
No one channel assures success of the innovation (Pelz,1983:22-23). The
usefulness of each channel varies for differing innovations, for differing stages
in the innovation process, and for soft vs. hard technology transfer.

2. Reflection on Learning
Navigating Ups and Downs
Students will collaborate in pairs to briefly reflect on the learning
activities and assessments from the delivered lesson. Each student will
identify one activity or task where they excelled and one where they
struggled. They will write down three reasons for their success and three
reasons for their challenges in their notebooks. In pairs, students will
compare their responses, noting any commonalities or differences. After
a brief discussion, they will brainstorm ideas for improving or
maintaining their learning performance.
Use the table below as a reference:

better here…

Some students will be asked to present their outputs in the class.
