CARCAR

This third generation RX-7, FD (chassis code FD3S for Japan and JM1FD for the North American VIN), featured an up-
dated body design. The 13B-REW was the first-ever mass-produced sequential twin-turbocharger system to export from
Japan boosting power to 255 PS (188 kW; 252 hp) in 1993 and finally 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) by the time production
ended in Japan in 2002.
But when alvydas got his hands on the car in Oct-2013, the car was silver in colour and had a rotary engine in it and it was
automatic. The engine was misfiring since day one. Now every one knows how hard to maintain these cars and the trouble
they give so alvydas priced up how much would it cost to get the engine fully rebuilt.

For the money that I have to spend, I decided to do an engine swap.

And this is the result, a S2000 F20c engine was dropped into the little Mazda. The subframe + mounts, steering rack all
had to be modified and if that was not enough, later in 2016 he decided to add boost. www.Hondatuning.lt started working
on making this Honda hearted Mazda go chooo chooo and this was not a simple job.

With a custom manifold, down-pipe, inter-cooler, wide-band + mapping all having to be fitted and running in this small bay,
but he was determined to make it work and it did. The engine is now pushing out 402.8 bhp on about 1 bar of boost.

Now to make it look cool alvydas went with Rocket bunny wings and side skirts (the kit is bonded on), all the cut outs for the
rivets have been filled and when seeing this in person it is something special. Someone who has so much detail on such a
small car has done a super job.

The rear subframe powder coated in black and the car is painted in a Honda NSX colour (Formula red ) which is much brighter than
OEM Mazda red.
A lot of plans are still to come for this car and with that, there will be a push further towards 500 bhp. A front diffuser of some sort.
Engine bay, thicker rad for better cooling and change the hoses a bit for better air flow. Interior: bucket seats + defi gauges. Green
takata harnesses.
Now it’s all done, how does it drive? The car is not done and I don’t think it will ever be. Drives great start every-time. (anti rotary :D)
We look forward to seeing this as its progress more and more a true well-built car with a big heart.

The third round of the Irish Drift Championship returned to the new home of Irish drifting in Mondello Park, this time, however, there would be a whole new
layout with a new Teardrop turn right in front of the grandstand and would send the drivers back around the track with a different set of clipping points on the
return journey. This wasn’t the only thing special about this round though. For the first time in The Irish Drift Championship history, there was a serious finan-
cial reward for that top podium spot in the pro class on Sunday.
When we say serious, we mean €20,000 serious. That’s right... The driver to win the event would also pocket the 20k prize money. In a change of form, Mon-
dello Park which seems to have its own independent weather system to what the rest of the country is doing and the sun shone solid for most of the weekend.
The downside to this was that the soaring temperatures would put pressure on the cars to stay cool and run properly. A hot track surface and sticky tires would
also mean that drivetrains would be under extreme pressure as well and the chance of mechanical mishaps would be high. Practice on Saturday morning
would give the drivers a chance to get used to the new layout and gain confidence in their runs. The entrance to the teardrop would catch a few drivers out.
Next up would be Pro-Am qualifying for the top 32 later on in the day. Each driver would be given two non-consecutive runs to qualify as high on the grid as
possible. The higher a driver qualifies dictates where he will place on the battle grid and his chances of progressing on to the top 16.
Shea Rodgers topped qualifying process on his second run with a score of 89.3, Dean Grozier was close behind with an 88.3. From his first run, Lee Scott
came third with an 87.7 on his second run. Battles would commence and even though there wasn’t a financial reward for the top spot on the pro-am podium,
what there would be is a chance in the pro class on Sunday, and that could lead to anything. The top 32 were quickly whittled down to 16 and then to 8 where
things would heat up. Shea Rogers faced off against Jack Shiel in the first battle of the great 8 and although both drivers put in good runs the higher powered
supra of Rogers take first place on the top 4 grid. Ryan Caldwell and Andy Keys were up next and again two very fast runs by both drivers, Ryan pulled an

14 DRIFT
THE PRIZE FIGHT

advantage and progresses to the top 4. Graham Holden and Paul Kennedy pushed hard in the next battle but Kennedy puts wheels off in his lead run and
Holden had to cut down inside to avoid him. Graham goes through to the next stage. Tomas Fulvey and Francis O’Shea faced off next in similarly powered
Nissan S15s. With both runs being so close the judges called One More Time. The second battle was very similar to the first one and the judges had their
work cut out for them to separate the two. In the end, it was decided that Fulvey just gained the edge on O’Shea and took that last top 4 position. Caldwell and
Rodgers took off viciously from the line to kick off the top 4 battles and as Ryan overshoots coming into the teardrop there was contact and both cars came to
a halt. Shea Rogers heads back to the pits with a 10 min competition time out to fix any damage to his car.Tomas Fulvay led Graham Holden on the first run
in the next top 4 battle and what a run it was. In Grahams lead, he traversed the course almost as fast until he spun after transition coming out of the teardrop
and Fulvay goes through. We return to the Rogers/Caldwell battle and as Shea transitions too early heading into the bottom of the course he makes hard
contact with the wall and ends his run and he retires from competition, this leaves him in 4th position and puts Ryan Caldwell automatically into 2nd position.
The final battle of the day would be between Ryan and Tomas. Ryan leads in and both drivers pull big angle into the first corner, Ryan runs an almost perfect
qualifying line as Tomas chases hard behind with only one slight mistake midway through the teardrop, the two drivers power through the rest of the course
with only a car length or two between them.
On Tomas’s lead he gave it all but Ryan kept almost on his door most of the way around. The top 3 drivers were called down in front of the grandstand for the
results. With unfortunate mechanical difficulties, Shea Rogers finishes up in 4th leaving Graham Holden to take 3rd. Tomas Fulvay steps up to 2nd position
after his first ever podium battle and Ryan Caldwell takes the top spot and 1st position. All four drivers get the opportunity to try out for qualifying in the pro
class on Sunday and essentially a chance at the 20k prize fund.
Sunday morning would see the weather hold strong and practice would go well for most. A few though would come across mechanical difficulties early on as
the high temperatures once again put pressure on cooling systems. Next up would be qualifying and again each driver would get two
runs to put a score on the board for the top 24 battles. Duane Mckeever tops qualifying on his first run with 91.7. Australian contender Mitch Larner qualified in
2nd on his first run with a very close 89.3. Mark Mcburney put in a score of 86.3 to take 3rd followed closely by Joe Doyle with 85.3. As always with Pro class,
the top eight qualifying drivers would automatically go into the top 16 and the next 24 drivers would go to a top 24 battle grid to see who would make up the
next eight contenders in the top 16. After some amazing runs and battles, the top 16 grid was decided and all 16 drivers would assemble in front of
the grandstand to be introduced by commentator Dave Egan.

DRIFT 15

FEATURE

Top 16 battles would see Duane Mckeever overcome Kevin Quinn, Tomas Keily went through against Shane O’Sullivan , Joe Doyle got the win over Brendan
Stone. Galway man Alan O’Loughlan beats Chris Burnet to go through to the top 8 also. Mitch Larner progresses past Charlie Geary to take his position in
the great 8. Paul McCarthy gets the vote from all three judges against Alan Hynes in a borrowed car and he too goes through. Mark Mcburney pulls a big gap
against Dean Martin and secures his place in the next set of battles. Brian Egan and Mike Fitz have a very close battle but the decision goes to Mike Fitz and
the final place in the great 8. Now the pressure is really on.
Duane Mckeever would beat Tomas Keily after he pulled a gap on the youngster during their first run. Joe Doyle takes the win after Alan O’Loughlan makes a
mistake coming into the teardrop at the end of an incredibly aggressive run. Mitch Larner has a fantastic battle with Paul McCarthy and the only foreign driver
left on the grid goes through to the top 4. Mike Fitz struggles against Mark Mcburney and puts wheels off, the win is awarded to Mcburney and the final place
in the top 4 grid. With the final four drivers decided the next sets of battles would be spectacular to watch. Joe Doyle would come up against northern smoke
machine Duane Mckeever who put down a really fast run on his lead and was stuck to Doyle’s door most of the way through the course. Duane takes the
advantage and progresses through to the final.
The next semi-final battle would see Mitch Larner and Mark Mcburney face off on the line. Mitch would lead in but Mark threw his car in directly after him on
initiation and wouldn’t give the western Australian an inch the whole way around the track. Mitch returned the favour on his chase run with minimal distance
between both cars right up until the teardrop where Mcburney came in too hot and had to dive on the brakes to avoid contact with the wall and both drivers
come to a halt. Mitch Larner takes the win and his place in the final against Mckeever. The third place battle between Joe Doyle and Mark Mcburney would
be a furious one as both drivers gave it absolutely everything they had, putting on an amazing show for the spectators. Mark Mcburney takes the unanimous
decision from the judges and 3rd spot on the podium.

16 DRIFT
JOE SOAPS CHARITy DAy

The final battle of the day would be a highly anticipated one between Duane Mckeever and Mitch
Larner. Both drivers gunning for that top spot and the 20k prize money. This would be a battle to
remember. Duane being the higher qualifier would lead Mitch on their first session and put down
an almost perfect run, Mckeever gave it all and Larner made a big dive down along the wall to
stay with Duane.
The next run and final one of the day saw Mitch put down a similar lead run to Duane who also
stayed inches away from him the whole way through the track. The judges were left with a difficult
decision as the drivers assembled in front of the grandstand. With Mark Mcburney already on the
3rd step there was an anxious wait for the next two spots to be announced. The judges decided
that Mitch just didn’t have what it took to break the unbeaten streak and takes 2nd place on the
podium. As the winner Duane McKeever steps to the top spot on the podium the crowd goes
wild. Unbeaten yet in 2018 Duane is in a prime spot to take the championship and with 20k in the
budget, we will undoubtedly see him compete in Europe next season.

’ S L I K E T O
WHAT IT A N P T 2
V E L T O J A P
T R A
Japanese car terminology and basic Japanese car language!

So let’s face it, this is the main reason I am planning a trip to Japan, I think it is for any car head even if you a euro fan, Japan has something like a magnet
effect I think you just want to go and experience. So in this part, I will or at least hope to enlighten you all with somewhat I call it car
terminology and maybe even be a help in learning some Japanese!
Kyusha, so what does this mean in Japanese, basically it means ‘old car’ modified or not once it is a classic it is a Kyusha. However, people who are
Kyusha lovers do enjoy some customisation to their cars, be it something simple or something more modern! Even such customisation that you might not
recognise what car it actually is!
Shakotan simply means lowered car, which the majority of us are fans of, in Japan, it often goes with wider arches, smaller wheels I am beginning to see
similarities between Japan and Ireland! Kaido racers, basically means highway car, crazy colourful cars, with long exhaust pipes and boxy body kits that’s
the style of Kaido racers. This style was partly inspired by the Supper Silhouette of the 70’s and 80’s Japan but can also be sometimes called Granchan or
Grachan.
Supercars and exotic cars if you fancy some car spotting of this nature Tokyo is the city for this as it has a lot of wealthy businessmen and woman living
here so this is where you need to be. May the best part or side of Japanese car culture that the people who can afford to have such cars are also not afraid
to modify them with many supercars and exotic garages in Japan who have a wide range of modifications for these cars, neon wheels, big wings, aftermar-
ket wheels and the likes!
Low-riders and hot rodding this side of America car culture has always fascinated the Japanese people, despite having easy access to some of the world’s
coolest cars manufactured in their own country Japanese people are fans of Chevy pickups and the likes of old mustangs.
VIP Style is known in Japan Bippu style ‘invented’ in Osaka in the 1980’s, how no one knows this but people think that the Japanese mafia may have had
a hand in it, driving such cars as JDM racers so it made them less noticeable to the police. Although years ago it may have been associated with gangs the
term VIP style really in this modern age about….well style. Certain cars in Japan are regarded as VIP style cars, such as Toyota Aristo, Crown and Celsior.
Cars in the VIP style have such modifications as heavily tinted windows, excessive camber which is termed as onikyan, in English termed as demon cam-
ber! Fancy interiors, dished wheels and lowered to road scrapping standards, I think we’ve all had experience of road scrapping lowered cars!
Kei Cars you will instantly know these cars! How their yellow number plates and the sheer size, they are well, small, very small. They first came about after
World War 2, when people needed some sort of transport but didn’t have the money for what they called a full-sized family car. They are compact, can fit
into small spaces and have an engine of 600cc or less, which makes them fuel efficient to say the least, road tax and tolls are even cheaper with these cars!
With every car in Japan, these are also modified in different ways, fun to see I bet!
Drag Racing or zero-yon in Japan means literally a quarter mile. Unfortunately it isn’t as popular these days in Japan as it was, this was one of the reasons

I personally wanted to visit Japan, I guess I will just have to go looking for some drag racing as it still popular with some people in Japan but not as much as
it was back in the 1990’s. There is, however, some serious drag racing builds taking place all over the country for some drag racing events which still take
place. Time Attack just like drifting it began in Japan, it has gone on to become increasingly popular all over the world, I think we have all been in Mondello
Park when there has been a time attack event on. A huge number of modified cars take part in drag racing event in Japan. In Japan the main place that
modern-day drag racers go to compete is Tsukuba Circuit and Fuji International Speedway, two places I guess I am sure to visit on my trip.
Street racing in Japan in the 1980’s and 1990’s street racing was what I suppose was the highlight of Japan’s whole car culture. From my research I’ve
learned that the best-known street racers were a club called Mid Night Club, who were 30 or so street racers, a somewhat club which was together for over
10 years until things went wrong and both members of the club and members of the public were involved in a serious accident, they went back to their
normal everyday lives and never street raced again after the accident.
Kanjo racers these are what is known in Japan as illegal racers their full title is Kanjozoku. Kanjo refers to the loop an elevated part of the Hanshin Motor-
way that runs through the city centre of Oaska.
Itasha Style what is this style well basically it’s something we have all seen be it in real life or just online, yes you got it, those cars with the cartoon stickers
on them. Anime plays a big part in the Japanese car culture and it is closely associated with otaku culture which I wrote about earlier on in
this article. In recent times itasha has become popular in global car culture and styling also. Common itasha liveries are based around a cute female char-
acter. So we are heading to Japan, it’s going to be helpful to know some Japanese, to say the least, so what have I learned so far? Basically, to count to 10,
it’s just like been a kid again! While I hope I have the right pronunciation for this I very much doubt it! If you want to learn here it is 1 to 10!

1 =ichi,2 =ni,3 =san,4 =yon,5 = go,6 =roku,7 =nana,8 =hachi,9 =kyu,10 =jyu
The next thing I wanted to know or should I say learn were the names we have for Japanese cars are they the same as what Japanese people call them? I
remember when I first ‘got into’ the Japanese side of cars, it confused me and it wasn’t until I started to work in a Japanese import garage, more and more
of my friend’s we buying Japanese cars I began to understand all the terminology. We Irish sometimes use the chassis code to name a car this isn’t the case
with Japanese people, the best know slang I suppose is for a Toyota AE86 Hachi-Roku, Hachi means 8 and Roku means 6 each number is said individually.

EMU Black Ecu:

The EMU Black is a class-leading, stand-alone engine management system, designed to
operate the most advanced and complex engines presently available. It is a successor of
our proven system, EMU. During the EMU lifetime we collected lots of data that allows us to
substantially improve the device hardware and software.
EMU Black targets race cars, road cars, motorcycles, boats, and stationary engine applica-
tions. The EMU Black controls fuelling, ignition and auxiliary systems on 1-12 cylinder engines
including those with drive-by-wire throttles and VVT.
It can drive up to 6 passive or 12 smart coils directly and does not require external amplifier/
power modules to achieve this. Sophisticated drive-by-wire strategies provide a wide range of
throttle control along with advanced plausibility (fault/error) checking for safety.
The system capabilities increase over the time due to easily-upgradable, free of charge firm-
ware (eg. new strategies, trigger patterns, CAN data streams).
The EMU features more built-in value than any other aftermarket ECU. It easily matches the
functionality of other stand-alone management systems with multiple inputs and outputs. Un-
like many other ECU systems, EMU has built-in wideband lambda input (Bosch LSU 4.2, and
LSU 4.9 sensors wire directly in), MAP control connector (4 bar MAP sensor on board), 2 EGT
probe inputs and an input to directly connect a Flex Fuel ethanol content sensor. All of this
provides greater flexibility, reduces costs and negates the requirement for external or supple-
mental signal conditioning control systems and the associated wiring that other management
systems require. Contact : ECU MASTER Tel: +353 (0)851927975

We live in an age where everything, even television programmes are gone digital, no need for normal t.v’s
anymore. A recent discussion took place in the Drift Mag camp, remembering the days of when there was no
such thing as anything being digital, nevermind car features. Rewind back to the days of Slick Mag, where
magazines like this where they only place you could see your car featured.

This got me thinking about what did the followers of our page on Facebook think? A digital feature of your
car or what’s termed as a ‘hard copy’ magazine feature of your car.

Nothing would settle the debate only to start a poll on our Facebook page, leave it open for 1 week said the
boss man, let’s see what car owners these days think?

1 week later the results were in 87% of people reached through the poll on our Facebook page rather see
a ‘hard copy’ magazine feature of their car as opposed to 13% would rather see a digital copy of their car
feature.

So there it was magazine car features are better than digital features,
I guess people get to keep the copy of the car featured in the magazine and show it to future
generations!

What do you think? Let us know on our Facebook page!

people who attended on the day.
When you enter the gate of the eikon centre we were met with a huge queue of all makes models of pure Japanese cars both old

This was our first event as a team with Plugs&Pistons covering the functional side of the country’s JDM aftermarket tuning scene.

We set up inside with having some cool cars of our own and were immediately ready to meet and great people. We had a great

Also outside, there was live action with a drift display and also motocross with stunts and tricks display. Which had my heart in my

Name: Tessa Whittock / Age: 28 Worcestershire, U.K

I have always been a car lover. From my younger years being in kappa popper trousers to always getting involved in everything, my family got in-
volved in. I had a number of horses growing up and my father having his own building company and a gamekeeper. I have always wanted to help and
got involved where ever I could from shooting, skinning and gutting game animals and helping my dad with the ground works of building the family
home. Driving diggers, dumper trucks, quad bikes and even tractors from a very young age.
Working at a horse yard from the age of 12 and getting paid to do so I knew I needed to earn money to give me the life I wanted. I lived in a little
village in Hertfordshire called Sawbridgeworth and as soon as I hit 17 I needed to drive as soon as possible to get around as the closest town was
a fair few miles away and passed my test after 6 months from my 17th Birthday. My family brought me a little Corsa B that ended up with the engine
seizing so I went out the very next day and brought myself a 2.0l Fiesta ST.
I knew that London was the place to work where I could potentially earn a good living, I started out as a data inputted for an electrical firm and worked
my way up to a personal assistant and subsequently got made redundant as the company moved to the north, I used to sit on the 16th
floor of a high rise building near Warren Street station and used to guess cars going past from the sounds of the engine, mainly the supercars of
London... I had a variety of cars from the age of 17 Fiesta ST, Focus ST and an Astra VXR Nuremberg edition.
From the Electrical firm, I did a number of temp roles in legal firms, LVMH, media, property companies, all weren’t really my cup of tea until one day
sitting outside cafe Nero near Oxford Circus and I had a conversation with a COO of a financial investment firm that saw me every day for a week
at 7.30am in the morning phoning different agencies to see if there were any roles available for me. He asked me to come to his offices and have a
meeting with the sales team to have a temporary role for a couple of months while someone was signed off. I worked my way through the ranks and
worked with an incredible sales team travelling Europe, many late nights, wining and dining clients, working hard and playing harder.
Being in a male-dominated environment and learning that I had to keep up with the lads and have the banter I got noticed as a hardball and not many
people took the mick as I would have them for it!!! This was where I knew I excelled in selling investments and enjoying the high life. I then worked
for various trade floors and investment companies. During this time I had a brilliant group of friends from my hometown and we used to all share a
passion for off-roading and I built myself a challenge. A Suzuki Vitara with a snorkel, 3-inch lift suspension, winch bumpers the lot and we always

to articulation challenges. Our group were called the Fuddy Muckers I taught myself how to
drift on muddy fields in my Vitara or RaRa as I called her. I went to a Jap Show at Santa pod
when I was 17 and got to go in a drift taxi from that moment I walked to where the drifting
was happening I caught a whiff of the amazing burning rubber smell and the engines a full
chat at times... I WAS HOOKED!!! I wanted to own an r33 Skyline and I did when I was 22,
from then on I took myself to every DWYB day at Santa pod I could, filling up my car with
tyres, jack and at the time not even a gun just a torque wrench. But I knew everything about
her. Once I could get around the big track with no major issues I took myself to Lydden Hill
practise days, again on my own mostly and getting to know other drifters and learning more
and more about setup and positioning myself on the track as I am a competitive person I
always wanted to compete.
With a very high demanding job that required many hours in and out of the office, it was hard
to progress and keep going consistently. Once I could confidently link and outgrown my cars
ability, I wanted to link up the hill of Lydden Hill, so I took the plunge and I got GDUK Drift
Garage to help me replace the engine with a part forged RB25DET engine and upgraded
to Ogura twin plate clutch and a Power FC for the brains of my baby girl and then got her
mapped, pushing 430bhp.
Then I met the love of my life Martin Richards at the first round of Drift All-stars at Westfield
Stratford in 2014 where I was invited by my best friend Tim of Aero kit and that weekend I
helped out his team with Jack Shanahan, Nigel Colfer and Louis Lopez and met Martin. From
that point, I knew Martin was an incredible driver and wanted to push and help him with
sponsorship to promote him to his full potential and 2 years later he got the deal of a lifetime
to drive the #dw32 for Team Driftworks. Once this happened I could concentrate on my drift-
ing and promoting myself.
After much deliberation with Martin and cost of significant upgrades, safety equipment and
caging my 33 he so kindly lent me his r33 which I still to this day am so privileged to be driv-
ing.I know everything about his 33 as I was and still, his chief pit bitch and spotter as it was
mainly just me and him going to European and UK events over the course of 2 years.
In 2017 I decided to go completely out of my comfort zone and knowing nobody I took myself
to Europe to compete in the King and Queen of Europe.
My first European event was France a Le Anneau du Rhin and friends of ours Dougie and
Natalie wanted to come for a holiday and road trip. Where I went and won my very first Eu-
ropean event and I continued the year with 2nds and 3rds throughout with very experienced
drivers with at least 5 years of competitive drifting under their belt and me being a newbie
thought hey I think I am pretty good at this and finished my first season of competition in
2017 in 3rd position in the Queen of Europe.
I am not a person to ask for sponsorship before and I have proved myself as a driver and still
with my first year under my belt I knew I had a lot to prove and practise on track.
After the season had finished I had a fair few companies take an interest in me which I was
absolutely delighted with and when Driftworks expressed an interest in me, I was absolutely
over the moon. To be given this incredible opportunity to represent the worldwide brand Drift-
works as a driver, I am still blown away to this day and will continue to promote the brand in
the best light possible by showing that I too can be as competitive as the lads and it doesn’t
matter who I am it all comes down to sitting on the start line and initiating into that first corner.
After re-spraying the now DW33 myself and getting her ready for the big reveal. My first
event in 2018 I competed in The King of Europe in Italy Castelletto, where I dominated and
came first in Queen of Europe and second in King of Europe Pro 2. I then went onto the 2nd
round of the British Drift Championships and mentally my head got the better of me and com-
plete flunked at Teesside then went onto Europe for the QOE and came 3rd.
I want to carry on inspiring women to get into motorsport and that when putting your mind to
it you can achieve anything, because it doesn’t matter who you are, once you put that helmet
on and sit on that start line and believe in yourself, you are ready to race...
I have so much more in me to be the best I can be and go out there with the big boys and
compete with the best of the best and maybe one day soon, go against my better half Martin
Richards and get on his door.

TAT T O O Y O U
I first met Isaiah a couple of years ago when I went into where he was a guest artist to get an addition onto my
sleeve. Isaiah could not have been a nicer, funnier guy and was very accommodating with me and my ideas, the
patience of a saint in other words.
This is his story and the road to being one of the best tattooist Ireland has in my eyes.
My Name is Isaiah Cummings, I’m 41 years old from Sacramento California. I have been tattooing professionally
since 2002. I completed my apprenticeship in California under Chris Aguilar of Fat Cat Tattoo. I have been in Ireland
over 10 years now and I’ve run Fat Cat Tattoo in Sligo since 2011.

Sarah: What brought you to Ireland?

Isaiah: Well, I was travelling around Europe and the first time I was in Ireland I fell in love with this place before I
started tattooing professionally. Tattooing brought me back here a few times and that is when I meet my wife Michelle
and well Sligo is home now.
What was your first tattoo? My first tattoo I got before I was 18, not to wise but what can you do! I got
a skull in a jester’s hat on my forearm it was a logo from graphix bong company. Got it done in a
crack house in Phoenix Arizona from some dude just out of prison, like I said not too bright, it has
been lasered and covered up for a long while now.

Sarah: What made you want to be a tattooist?

Isaiah: Well I learned how to make a prison style machine when I was a kid and well I messed up a
heap of my friends. I decided I should probably put that thing down. So that was that for ages then
Tattooing more or less found me later again in my mid-20s. I had a friend who was a tattooist and I
was doing a bit of work on the weekends fixing up the tattoo shop and getting tattooed for free for it.
Fat cat tattoo in Carmichael California. And well to make a long story short I ended up with an
apprenticeship. And that was that.
Sarah: What’s your favourite genre of tattoos to tattoo?
Isaiah: My two favourite styles of tattooing would have to be traditional American and traditional
Japanese. I think the way they are applied to the human skin is best for longevity and they would have
a more striking impression in my humble opinion.
Sarah: Is there any type of tattoo you wouldn’t tattoo?
Isaiah: Ah tattoos I don’t do..... Well, I will tattoo most anything in any style I don’t mind at all!
So as long as it is functional with the skin! You pick I’ll stick! Except biomechanical I’m done
with that shit! Over it!!!
Sarah: What advice would you have for someone wanting to get a tattoo?
Isaiah: My best advice would be, do a bit of research on the person you pick to get a tattoo
from don’t let just any ol shmuck tattoo you check out their portfolio have a chat with them
in person and don’t be ignorant to them in
social media messages you will only get
ignorance back.
Try to have some individuality and creativity
in your tattoo ideas. Tattoos should be a
passion, not fashion.

Hi Guys!!! In this Tech Talk, I will tell you about exhausts.
A sporty exhaust system is really the beginning of an adventure with mechanical tuning. Reworking a serial exhaust
system is the basis from which we should start when building our project. Without a proper exhaust system, further
interference with the engine is simply pointless. Building a decent exhaust system consists of several stages, each
of them should be
made with the head and adaptation to our engine. Most of the “tuning” cars have a “sport” end of the exhaust, which
everyone around can hear. In practice, the same exhaust tip can do more harm than better. Okay, but maybe let’s
start one by one.
Exhaust manifold - Sport exhaust system.

The element from which we start our puzzle should be the exhaust manifold. It is a very important
thing because it gets to it by the exhaust gases that are produced by the results of the fuel and
air mixture. Collectors are built in several variants depending on the number of cylinders or the
place under the hood of the car. The most popular exhaust manifolds are 4-1, 4-2-1, 3-1 or also
5-1. Experienced “tuners” know well what is going on with these numbers,
while a person who is just starting their tuning adventure may have a big dilemma regarding the
exhaust manifold markings. Okay, I’m explaining now and you will see that it is not difficult at all.
Let us give here an example of a 4-2-1 collector. This is probably one of the most popular in my
opinion. 4 means four tubes that come out of the cylinders, then pass two tubes and two tubes
into one that goes to the central silencer, that’s the whole riddle with these digits, simple, no?
Mounting such an exhaust manifold (4-2-1) we should feel better bottom and worse maximum
speed while in 4-1 it is the opposite. Of course, the differences that we can feel are dependent on
whether our sports exhaust system is complete. It is important to remember the proper separa-
tion of heat, here we can use a thermal insulation bandage.
Catalytic converter

This is the device which allows you to still breathe the air while you’re visiting Los Angeles. It takes the incoming
NOx, CO, and unburnt hydrocarbons from the exhaust and “converts” it into much less harmful N2, O2, CO2,
and H2O.
Muffler - Sport exhaust system
We are slowly reaching the end of our exhaust system. The last and also very important thing is the silencer. At
the end of our exhaust system, there is usually a simple tube called a “flyby”. The flight is very simple to build,
its task is to provide the least flow resistance. Such exhaust system should be made of stainless steel. This
exhalation can be used even for a few good years. It is also worth considering the size of our silencer. It must
be a very deliberate choice, not to put a “bucket” that will make more noise than any other use. In the world
of tuning, it has been assumed that the larger the diameter, the better. You can talk about this for a long time,
because it is true that the larger the diameter, the smaller the resistance to flow and at this moment we can
get some power gains. Unfortunately, this is reflected in the torque. The construction of the exhaust system is
completely different in the case of turbocharging, but maybe this time. A completely different situation occurs in
turbo-charged cars. A lot of people still think turbo engines ‘need’ backpressure or they lose low down power,
but that’s total crap, in fact, the opposite is true- The BEST post-turbo exhaust system would be no exhaust
system at all.
Bigger really is better for both spoolup and power, especially directly after the turbine wheel, and it’s why fitting
a big downpipe to a turbo engine makes a massive difference to spool especially, much more than the rest of
the system.
Moving to the article summary, we must remember that the sports exhaust system is a very important thing in
car tuning and it is better to consult someone who will advise us well than buy parts that can do more harm than
improve the performance of our car. The exhaust system should be well counted so that it takes place without
power drops. More than once you can meet with the wave of hate, that sports systems are fake and give
nothing. They actually do not give anything as they are done wrong. A well-made exhaust system will definitely
benefit.

Sarah: So Jonathan, can you introduce yourself to the readers of Drift Mag?
Jonathan: I am the CEO of DriveTribe working on a daily basis with Jeremy,
Richard and James.
Sarah: What is your exact job title in DriveTribe?
Jonathan: Chief Executive Officer
Sarah: What are your main roles or responsibilities that go with the
above-mentioned job?
Jonathan: I am responsible for delivering the main goals of DriveTribe for our
users and shareholders. On a day-to-day basis, this means keeping an eye
on the development of the product and community, working with commercial
partners and representing DriveTribe to the Automotive Industry.
Sarah: How long have you been working in DriveTribe?
Jonathan: Since it was born - I was the second hire back in March 2016
Sarah: How did the job come about for you?
Jonathan: To be honest, I was not really looking for a job but a friend of mine
mentioned the chance of working with the Top Gear boys and I thought it
sounded like fun.
Sarah: Is there anything you would change about DriveTribe if you could?
Jonathan: I’m really looking forward to seeing how our new Moneybox feature
develops - where we share revenue with the top contributors on DriveTribe
and also very excited to simplify our Tribe model with new subject verticals to
make DriveTribe more accessible to casual users.
Sarah: Have you got an interest in cars?
Jonathan: Yes, although I am a biker at heart.
Sarah: What sort of collection of cars have you had or driven?
Jonathan: I started out in a 2CV purchased from my then girlfriend’s father who was the local village vicar, I still love
2CVs but I don’t miss trying to crawl up a hill with a 400cc motor and a leaky roof. I have owned various bikes including
my favourite - the Honda VFR - and have owned and crashed a variety of Ducati’s over the years as well. I currently
have the latest Mazda MX5 RF which I love, although I may trade up for the new model coming out later this year and
keep thinking I should get a turbo installed.
Sarah: What was your favourite car you have driven but not owned?
Jonathan: I would sell my soul for a McLaren 720s which I took around a track recently. Not sure where I would put the
shopping though.
Sarah: If you have competed in any Motorsport what was it and what was your experience with it? If you haven’t competed in
any what motorsport would you like to try and why?
Jonathan: I would love to compete in the Isle of Man TT because it is simply the most exciting race there is. Although I do have a tendency to drive directly at
dry stone walls so I’d need to take it easy!
Sarah: What’s been your favourite moment from working in DriveTribe to date?
Jonathan: Gosh, there have been loads. I guess one that stands out is feeling very relieved after Richard called me from his hospital bed after the Rimac hill
climb crash last year. Despite being on a morphine drip he took the time to tell me he was ok and to make sure we had good coverage on DriveTribe!
Sarah: What is Jeremy Clarkson really like? James May? Richard Hammond?
Jonathan: Jeremy, Richard and James are exactly what you would expect - there is no difference between their on and off-screen personalities. They really
are three of the most interesting and enjoyable people I know. Although Board Meetings can go astray as they are naturally very very funny. I was concerned
before I started working at DriveTribe that they would have little involvement in the project but they are really closely involved on a day-to-day basis and we
often end up talking about the latest posts from the community - many of which they read!
Sarah: Tell us a random off the wall fact about your career to date?
Jonathan: I am a music graduate and originally thought I would have a career as a professional musician.
Sarah: Anything else you want to tell us?
Jonathan: I’m just very grateful and at times in-awe with the amazing community we have using DriveTribe - it is a refreshing change from the other large
social networks.
Sarah: Any future plans for DriveTribe that you can tell us about?
Jonathan: We are launching in China soon which I am very excited about - particularly as our founders have a big fan base in China!

The Toyota Celica (Toyota Serika) sports car produced by Toyota from 1970 to 2006. The Celica name derives from the Latin
word coelica meaning heavenly or celestial. In Japan, the Celica was exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships Toyota Corolla
Store.
Displayed at the October 1970 Tokyo Motor show Tokyo and marketed from December of the same year, the Celica was a two-
door hardtop coupe that emphasized styling and driving enjoyment based on a platform shared with the Toyota Carina Sedan
which is one size above the Toyota Corolla. This car was aimed at the North American market and was Toyota’s response to the
1964 Ford Mustang which also was a standard sedan with stylized 2+2 bodywork.
This Celica is a prime example of the second series of the first generation of Celica’s. The second series had a flat nose (square
front corner light) and slightly longer wheelbase (98 in or 2,500 mm wheelbase). This facelift model appeared in Japan in 1974
but for export was the 1975 model year being TA23. The Japanese version had engines under 2.0 litres so as to conform to Jap-
anese regulations concerning engine displacement size, thereby allowing buyers to avoid an additional tax for a larger engine.
Japanese buyers did pay a higher annual road tax for engines over 1.5 litres while staying under the 2.0-litre threshold. The
guys from Made in Japan imported this Celica from Asia last year. The car was and is in perfect condition, its appearance always
attracts the eye of every person who is interested in motorization and classic cars. It’s appearance, style, and unique colour
caused the car to gain popularity on social networks, also on done deal, gumtree. The car has been seen on the internet for over
10,000 people. The made in Japan team quickly found a new owner who now stores it in one of his garages in Belfast.

Limerick Cars and Coffee
Japanese Edition
(August 2018) C o f f
Each month a different theme is held, this month being
Japanese Edition. The turnout for this month’s cars and
coffee was one of the largest turnouts I have seen. The
quality of cars on display was something else.

Stars of the day included a 1972 Nissan Skyline GT-R

Hakosuka, a recently built ’93 JZA80 Toyota Supra, and a
1975 Mitsubishi Galant 2000 GTO.

Imagine at a cars and coffee in Limerick four different

generations of skylines were on show – The Haku an r32,
a pair of 33’s and a pair of 34’s as well as two different
model Supra’s a JZA70 and a pair of JZA80’s. AE86s
were well represented as always with some lovely mod-
els on display.

Several rotaries were on display as well, always nice to

hear these coming into an event the exhaust notes are
addictive. There was a huge selection of non-Jap cars on
display too, the Germans, French and British were well
represented with a couple of Italians popping in too.

Car of the month went to Garry’s freshly built Toyota

Supra JZA80, the quality of the paint on this car is some-
thing else.

The Irish Festival of Speed Cars and Coffee is held on

the first Sunday of every month at The Factory Cafe,

from 18 years of age right up to the 90’s.

It’s always great to see a mix of young and old getting along and
talking cars in a nice relaxed atmosphere. These style events seem
to be getting more and more popular around the country as cars
are free to come and go as they please and all cars no matter what
make, age or model are welcome.

So where is the location of Tannery drifting, it’s in Portlaw Co. Waterford. Back in the day, it was the old tannery factory of the local area.Just
over 10 years ago a man called Mikey O’Shea opened the tannery that had a small slab area which his grandson Garvan and his friends
used to practise their drifting. He extended the slab to the track that it is now a larger area and more area to play with. Tannery Drifting has
had the pleasure to watch some first-time drifters that got their nerve from drifting in The Tannery to go on and compete with or take on the
best drifters out there. Drifters we all know like both of the Shanahan brothers, Tomas Kiely, James Deane, Ronan Kearney, David Garvey,
Chucky Geary and all the members of a drift team which used to be in existence called team man foot have all had days out at the tannery.
Lots of up and coming stars had plenty of battles down in the tannery and one to watch is Waterford man Graham Holden, he has been a fan
of the tannery from day one. Some excellent ladies have done their bit down here also Emma Healy, Anne McGuire, Noran O’Leary to name
just a few that have given some of the lads a run for their money.
At the moment there are some very talented drifters getting the knowledge that they need to go on and compete with the best out there and
we are pretty sure there will be more stars produced from the tannery. Tannery Drifting is true grass Root drifting at its best the fun you can
have, everyone helps each other out, there is no pressure on young drivers that start their adventure with drifting here. Sadly, Mikey passed
away in January 2016, he is missed but I’m sure he would love to know we are carrying on drifting.
Over the years tannery drifting has supported local talents and charities.
They have had a drift day for Hayley, Olympian medallist in the dwarf games, they have supported the local tidy towns and task force, the
local hospital for the elderly. Lately, the tannery had a fabulous day in support of Stephens bucket list. All this couldn’t have been done with-
out help from our very good friend Leo Doyle who is with us every step of the way. The main people who look after Tannery drifting are Leo
Doyle, Fiona McRitchie and Garvan O’Shea. When any person contacts Leo or Garvan through their Facebook pages when they arrive on
the day and if it is their first day out they will help that person get the feel of the car and drifting by getting into the car with them and guiding
them. Some say they are the original Irish roots of grassroots drifting. Famous drifters who have been judges at some of the tannery’s drifting
events include Ronan Kearney, Martin Ffrench, David Garvey, Buttsy Butler and many more.
It’s a cheap day out at just €20 for the car and driver.
So if you crave a bit of drifting action and some epic runs you should visit Tannery Drifting for their next event and try their track for a bit of
fun.

If there is one driver determined to break the 14 year “unbeaten on home soil” streak of the Irish then it’s
got to be Mitch Larner. The 22-year-old from Australia competed in last year’s Irish Drift championship
but this year he is here to dominate.
Mitch was born into a motorsport background as both his parents had a keen interest in cars and as a
young boy in Perth, Western Australia. Mitch’s parents run WA Performance, a mechanical tuning shop
supporting drag racing and streetcars and as a young man he would hang out there a lot and meet a
lot of the customers. After witnessing one of those customers do a massive burnout at the shop Mitch
wanted to try this for himself and attended a Father’s day burnout session with his dad at the age of 14
in their V8 Commodore and as he was too young to compete in events he had to wait until he was 16 to
start drifting and went to his first event in an R32 rb20 powered skyline with nothing more than a set of
coilovers and an aftermarket exhaust.

Qualifying in the top 32 in his first event and making it through to top 4 in his next, he decided to start
taking the sport more seriously. After having a very successful few championships in Australia, Mitch
turned his focus on the Irish Drift Championship and figured out it would be cheaper for him to compete
in Ireland with all the travel costs included than keep shipping his LS converted R34 all over his native
country for events, so he set about finding a chassis to build in Ireland. After acquiring a previous Irish
drift Championship spec S-body shell, Mitch and his dad set about assembling the V8 LS engine in WA
Performance and shipping it to Ireland to be fitted to the aforementioned shell.

Paul Conlon is no stranger to drifting and by far a newcomer to the sport. We have seen Paul put on a real smoke show the last
few seasons and this year is no different. Paul has been driving a rear wheel drive chassis for most of his life now
as he started off with the Iconic and much loved ae86, or as it was more popularly known in Ireland at the time the Toyota Twin
Cam. A mechanic by trade he has had over 20 of these since being a young man, going to cruises all over the country. He would
buy one and fix it up, drive it for a while and sell it on to fund the next one. A passion for them one might say, and surely the way
he gained the nickname Coupe. He even still has an immaculate UK spec one to this day. This However is not what he is best
known for. Paul has driven in Steer from the rear and Max Power Live in Greece as well as the Top Gear Live Show.
When the show scene quietened down a bit, he turned his hand to the competitive side of drifting and entered events like Pro-
drift and the European Drift Championship. In 2012 he won the EDC in its final year. The S15 was originally powered with the
Sr20 engine which Paul ran for many years before he switched up to a Toyota 2JZ lump and a highly tuned one at that.

At Round one this year he suffered oil pump failure and nearly ruined the entire engine leaving him a big setback in the champi-
onship. It was brought to Richard Bradley to work his magic and with the block bored out to almost 3.2 litre, now it puts down a
respectable 650bhp. The handling of the car has all been set up by Chris Burnett and now feels good, unfortunately with all that
power and grip dialled in the prop shaft just was not able for any more abuse and gave way during his top 24 battle with Dean
Martin in round 3 of IDC at Mondello Park. The car is now in Quinn Msport getting a new stronger custom prop for round 4.
We know Paul has a plan for the rest of the season and that is to WIN, he is pushing for a return to his previous form and no lon-
ger holding back.. the link ecu sponsored s15 is there to be driven and he plans to show all what he is capable of. Ever grateful
to all his sponsors which are visually present all over the car Paul is looking forward to some serious door on door action in the
next round..

WHAT’S THAT: CHOON?

Have you heard about CHOON? The latest digital music publishing and distribution platform creat-
ed by DJ Gareth Emery. Currently, in BEAT testing CHOON is due for public use any day now.

“Choon is a music streaming service and digital payments ecosystem—designed to solve the music
industry’s most fundamental problems.”
Are you a music producer? Do you spend countless hours pouring your heart and soul into produc-
ing good quality tracks only to have them signed to labels, released on music platforms such as
Beatport and Spotify and never see a penny for your efforts? Those days might be a thing of the
past.

Choon seeks to give Artists the power to upload, publish and control their own music distribution to
the world.
In the Music Industry, unfortunately, there is a stigma that you should love what you do so much
that seeking to be paid is a no-no. However, Choon seeks to change this by paying Artist “Notes”
Per track stream & Track Download in CryptoCurrency called “Notes” Sounds very futuristic I know.
The site is still in its infancy but definitely something to be mindful of and to watch out for in the

Kimmie or Kimberly Hartigan is a Dublin based music producer. Having spent several summers
in Ibiza, Kim became inspired by artists like Jamie Jones and Kerri Chandler, this influence can
be clearly heard in her music with most of her original productions having that distinctive terrace
vibe. Kimberly has taken the time to truly master her trade and hone her own unique style and
sound. Her music unlike any other speaks for itself.

Primarily wanting to be known as a producer Kim has thrown her hand at DJing playing Lon-
don’s Ministry of Sound nightclub. Using her DJ sets to showcase her own productions.

Armed with a catalogue of her own tracks ready for release and a number of local and interna-
tional bookings already lined up, including a debut Ibiza performance Kimerblery in definitely

Mike FitzGerald or Mike Fitz as he is more commonly known, is one of the most notable characters in Irish Drifting, He may
be small in stature but he more than makes up for it with his charismatic personality and all-out driving style.
Growing up in Bally Desmond, Co Cork, Mike had a variety of interests, but the two main ones would have been music and
motorsport.
Coming from a musical background and an interest in music he took to Djing quiet quickly but with nobody in his family
interested in motorsport this was something he had to discover for himself.
Mikes first venture into motorsport would be in the form of road racing, his bike of choice a Yamaha RD350. Because of his
lightweight physic mike found himself to be quiet quick and competitive but he knew it would be only a matter of time before
he got hurt and switched to four wheels in the form of karting by the age of 18. From there he progressed to navigating in
forestry rallies but all that he really wanted to do was drive himself.
While studying Mechanical engineering in college he came across an Options DVD and instantly fell in love with the art of
drifting. He set about scoping it out for himself and decided to contact local drifters Damian Mulvey and Darren McNamara
for a good long chat about how to get started ..He then went about setting up an import company with his friend called Sa-
murai imports and in 2006 imported his road going drift car in the form of a Nissan Sileigty which had been previously fitted
out by Andrew Gray in Japan. He then drove that car to Rosegreen with only a spare set of wheels to
compete in Prodrift. In 2007 he gained his novice licence and proceeded from there. 2008 would see him win his first ever
semi-pro event in the then 350bhp road car.

62 DRIFT
Times were tight and mike recalls DJing the night before the event just to pay for the weekend ahead. After winning in semi-
pro mike secured a sponsorship deal with Bridgestone for the 2010 season and the car had a fresh livery.
In the top 16 battle in Fermoy, he had his first big crash and the car he had campaigned with for so long and had become
so attached to was totally destroyed. A major setback and a hard thing for mike to accept he had to move on and Chambers
Performance sourced a Mazda RX7 FC shell for him. Mike set about building this for competition and managed to obtain
a 13b rotary engine from Darren McNamara. While preparing this car he had an accident during fabrication and broke his
hand which would put him out of action and miss the first few rounds of the 2011 competitive season. Mike used the down-
time to his advantage and got the chance to Judge for Prodrift at Ennis marts and also commentate with Dave Egan. The
following season Mike regained his Semi-Pro licence and although Bridgestone had pulled out by the end of 2012 he had
secured a new deal with Hankook as his title sponsor. He continued on to gain his Pro licence and ran in that class with
some success until a serious illness took him out of for a good few months in 2015 forcing him to miss the Millstreet event in
his home county.
After so many years competing with the Rotary engine in 2016 mike made the big change to a Toyota 2JZ engine in the
RX7. Fitting the engine to this chassis was a mammoth task and he even missed practice for round 1 as he was still trying
to dyno the car and bleed brakes right up to qualifying. In fact, it was a relief that the car even ran properly for him. Overall it
actually turned out to be a pretty good season for him as he finished up in 4th place in the pro class for the season.

Mike’s best memory of drifting so far has to be his battle

with Diago Saito at Global Warfare in Mondello park where both drivers
came in contact with the wall on their runs and both scored a 10-0, this
is something he will cherish for some time to come. A big impact with the
tyre bale/ Solid fixed light pole in round 2 at Drift on the docks earlier this
year once again left mike working hard to put the car back together for
the next event. He has changed his mindset from being sick, broke and
unlucky to being a challenger for podium spots for the rest of the year.
Drifting has been very good to Mike though, as he has had the opportunity
to judge at Prodrift, Superdrift, Ultimate Drift and The Irish Amateur Drift
championship as well as being head instructor at Drift Games experience.
All these are a testament to his absolute passion for the sport.

The Honda S2000 is a roadster that was manufactured by Japanese company Honda from 1999 to 2009. First shown as a
concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, the production version was launched in April 1999 to celebrate the company’s
50th anniversary. The S2000 is named for its engine displacement of two litres, carrying on in the tradition of the S500, S600,
and S800 roadsters of the 1960s.

Quentin’s s2000 has come a long way since the production line. This daily driver is a real head turner and so it should be.
Probably the cleanest s2k in the country. Owning the car approximately 5 years from practically stock. His original plan was
not to modify it but we’re glad his mind change on that idea. Quentin has always been a JDM lover. Before owning the s2000
he owned and s15 which he loved, but he always wanted an s2000. As he says “There’s nothing like putting the top down on a
sunny day and hearing the VTEC scream!”

For the exterior, he is sporting a Spoon s-tai front bumper and spoon bonnet. J’s Racing front 35mm front fenders with carbon
vents. ASM 25mm rear fenders. J’s Racing Carbon side skirts. Voltex GT wing with 275mm risers. K1 Laboratory carbon rear
boot spoiler. J’s Racing carbon rear diffuser.

Donegal International Rally is one of the biggest in Ireland.
This year it took place on June 15th to 17th 2018.
Once again the organisers were overwhelmed by the num-
ber of entries that were received. The main field was filled to
capacity and a lengthy reserve list was drawn up. The His-
toric and Junior fields were also running at maximum num-
bers. Not only was the rally running at maximum numbers
but the quality running from car number 1 to car number 151
it is the crème da la crème of Irish Rallying. Starting at num-
ber one are the winners for the previous two years Manus
Kelly & Donall Barrett, they
are the first of ten world rally
cars in the field. Hot on their
heels will be other WRC drivers
Donagh Kelly, Declan Boyle,
Garry Jennings and returnee
Darren Gass to name just
some of the World Car drivers

looking to claim Manus and Donall’s Crown.

The main Irish Tarmac Championship class is the R5 category and all
the leading Championship contenders went to Donegal in a bid to claim
maximum points and edge them towards championship glory. Drivers
such as Monaghan brothers Sam & Josh Moffett, Robert Barrable,
Desi Henry and Jonny Greer are in a strong position after the first three
rounds of the championship. Two young guns making their Irish R5 de-
but are Callum Devine and Rob Duggan these two starlets are looking
to show the established stars that they mean business.
The modified cars make up the bulk of the entry on this year’s event,
the main class in this category was class 14, there are over 30 crews
due to start in this class. Leading the crews away will be last year’s
Modified Tarmac Champion Kevin Eves in his Toyota Corolla, and it’s
a real who’s who of modified crews rolling over the ramp behind him.
Drivers of the calibre of Gary McPhillips, Brian Brogan, and Gary Kier-
nan, Stuart Darcy and Ryan Loughran plus at least another 15 crews
who believe they can be modified Kings on the Sunday evening in Let-
terkenny. The Joule Donegal International Rally has come to an end
for 2018, and it was Manus Kelly and Donal Barrett who claimed victory
for the third year in a row.

The Moffett brothers Sam and Josh, who came second and third
respectively in the International category Ian Barrett and Paul McGee
claimed victory in the National

how well the car held together and how safe he was compared to some of the other extreme sports he had tried. This cemented
his love for the sport and set about building his next drift car. Taking a break from the competitive side of things he had Darren
at GroupD help him build an S13 LS7 with which his team took 3rd place in Super 3 Team drift at Gatebil in 2017. He then went
on to win his native event and became Current Champion for the 2018 Emirates Drift Championship. Also competing in Germa-
ny. Belgium, BDC and recently in IDC, Sultan has gone on to take 2nd place with the Monster Energy team in the Super 3 again
this year in Gatebil.
Sultan really likes to get stuck into the building the cars himself and has opened his own shop/garage at home in Abu Dhabi. He
has built numerous cars but is always looking forward to his next one. Not afraid to get his hands dirty, he likes everything else
to be “clean and neat” he especially likes to get stuck into the electrical wiring and the way the final finish is presented. What will
we see next in his drift stable.. “something more exotic” but competitive he says...If it is anything like any of his other cars it will
be something special for sure.
