BEPC ENGLISH TEST

PART ONE : READING (8 points)

Read the text below and do the tasks that follow.

On Monday September 13, school started again. It was after more than three
months of holidays. Our school, CLAIR-HORIZON, was full of pupils. We sat down
under the trees and told stories. Other pupils talked about their holidays. But my
Ghanian friend Kuassi wasn’t under the trees as we used to be last year. His
5 classroom is on the other side of the school. Just then the bell started ringing, so I
ran quickly and passed the other classrooms, I ran up the stairs and looked for
Kuassi, but I couldn’t find him unfortunately. It was also time for me to go home, so I
went out. Then, I heard, «Esmel, Esmel ! Where were you ?» It was my friend Kuassi
calling me.
10 My friend and I went to the end of a very long line of pupils before the office.
They were waiting for their turn in order to register. It was a very long line. I told
Kuassi about my holidays in my village, where I helped my grandfather on his farm.
We killed a few animals and cooked them over a fire. We ate a lot of fufu too. It was
good to spend my holidays on farm village. Kuassi also told me about his holidays.
15 He polished shoes in Abidjan. But he promised to go to his village too.
