Activity 6.5: Orthographic and Isometric Drawing

Name: Mark Rheniel P. Villa Date: December 15, 2022

Section BSECE 1 – GH Score:______________

1.1 Introduction

Isometric: a method of representing three-dimensional objects on a flat surface by means of a

drawing that shows three planes of the object. Orthographic: a method for representing a three-
dimensional object by means of several views from various planes.

1.2 Objective

● To use various CAD command in creating Orthographic and Isometric view of an object.
● To analyze Orthographic view and Isometric view of any given image or drawing.
● To transform different image views into one view to another.

1.3 Activity
Create CAD drawing and transform the image from Isometric to orthographic and vice versa. Include
dimensions and text:

1
Create Orthographic view with distance of 10 units and Isometric view with 30 degree angle on both
sides. Use 1 dwg file only for both views. Attach the word/pdf and dwg file.

Output of the Drawing: SS only and upload PDF and DWG file

1.4 Questions

1. Discuss how you analyze the drawing.

Everyone is aware that in the last session we discussed the orthographic and isometric drawing
in AutoCAD, how it functions, and the different commands to utilize. First, we must understand what
isometric and orthographic drawing in AutoCAD before we can examine the drawing. In layman's terms,
we may say that an isometric drawing is similar to a 3D design in AutoCAD, and an orthographic drawing
is like the parts of a jigsaw since it includes front, side/section, and top views of the drawing. Now that
we are aware of what isometric and orthographic drawing is, we can study the drawing to determine
whether it is isometric or orthographic, the drawing is provided with dimensions, so we may move on
and begin sketching. The isoplane is the new command/new function we may use in isometric drawing
to allow us to greatly simplify the drawing for isometric drawing. We may utilize the layer to make the
drawing easier by altering the layers to create a concealed line or it relies on what is presented on the
drawing. Orthographic drawings are, as we all know, components of a puzzle.

2. Do isometric and orthographic view of an image help you visualize the object? Why or Why not?
It is really helpful and crucial to move forward with a drawing so that we may choose which
drawing to complete. It depends on the instructions provided, how you draw it, and whether they were
written on the picture or provided by the teacher. Understanding orthographic and isometric concepts
can help you analyze data more effectively and also, since they give you an alternative viewpoint on the
thing, isometric and orthographic perspectives of a picture can help you visualize it. While the
orthographic view presents the object in 2D perspective from various angles, the isometric view
presents the thing in 3D. You may have a greater knowledge of items, sizes, and measurements as a
result.

3. Discuss at least 2 other views of image aside from orthographic and isometric view.
Isometric views distort the image in such a manner that the three dimensions can be seen in the
same frame, hence they are not authentic 3D representations of an drawing. This may alter how the
thing appears somewhat from how it would in real life. Conversely, an orthographic view is a true 2D
depiction of the drawing from various angles, but it hides the depth of the item. It also discuss about the
real representation of ay 2D image but it has a different perspective of angle, and this is are, top view,
section/side view, front view.

1.5 Conclusion
In conclusion, it is crucial to master isometric and orthographic drawing in AUTOCAD since it will
affect society and the economy in the near future. It is crucial since it is one of the cornerstones of 3D
drawing, and employing an isoplane in an isometric picture will help you identify which side is using it.
Prior to beginning the drawing, it is crucial to assess the supplied, the drawing, and the instruction.
Drawing in isometric and orthographic perspective is crucial since it facilitates learning. Autocad has
isometric and orthographic view that is necessary to learn, Isometric views are not true 3D renderings of
a design since they distort the picture so that all three dimensions may be viewed in the same frame.
Due to this, the object's appearance may differ somewhat from how it would in reality. An orthographic
view, on the other hand, is a real 2D representation of the artwork from various angles, but it obscures
the object's depth. It also talks about how a 2D picture is actually represented, but from a different
aspect. These angles include top view, section/side view, and front view.
