Disciplinary Actions for MUN Rule Violations
i. Verbal Warning:
When to Apply: For minor infractions such as tardiness, failure to wear proper attire, or
inappropriate internet use (e.g., accessing social platforms).
Rationale: The delegate may have misunderstood or overlooked the rules. A simple
reminder often corrects behavior without escalating the situation.
ii. Official Reprimand:
When to Apply: For more serious or repeated violations, such as inappropriate noise,
leaving the venue without permission, or misuse of technology.
Rationale: A formal reprimand, either verbally or in writing, serves as a clear indication
that their behavior is unacceptable and must be corrected immediately.
iii. Temporary Suspension from Session:
When to Apply: For ongoing disruptive behavior, failure to follow the dress code after a
warning, or use of prohibited AI tools or communication apps.
Rationale: Temporarily removing a delegate from a session demonstrates that violations
have consequences and emphasizes the seriousness of adhering to rules.
iv. Confiscation of Prohibited Items:
When to Apply: For delegates found violating the no-smoking or no-noise rules, using
devices to make loud noise, or publishing audiovisual content without permission.
Rationale: Confiscating items ensures that the delegate cannot continue the violation and
promotes adherence to the conference’s standards.
v. Expulsion from the Conference:
When to Apply: For severe violations such as harassment, discrimination, or repeated
disregard for the rules.
4
Rationale: Ensuring the safety and inclusivity of the event is a top priority, and serious
infractions, particularly those that affect others' comfort or security, may warrant expulsion
from the event.
vi. Public Apology (Optional):
When to Apply: For disruptive actions that affect the entire committee or a large group of
people.
Rationale: Having the delegate publicly acknowledge their mistake can help rebuild trust
among other participants and foster accountability.
