GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
𝟏
1. Be organized: For the Maths paper you have 2 hours to solve 15 MCQ’s and 18 sums,
𝟐
so manage your time effectively. Utilize your reading time for selection of questions from
Section B. Choice of questions should depend upon your ability to solve the questions with
higher weightage confidently.

2.Neatness: Rough work to be done in the rough column or rough sheet. Write reasonably
large and well -spaced out letters and numbers.

3.Practice checking the sums thoroughly while doing them.

4.Don’t Brood: If you encounter a sum that you cannot solve leave some space and move to
the next sum. You can come back to the sum after completing the paper.

5.Learn all the formulae. Marks will only be given for correct substitution in the correct
formula and not just writing the formula correctly.

6.Copy the data from the questions correctly. Number your sums correctly.

7.Don’t cancel a sum until you have done it for the second time.

8. Carry 2- 3 pencils, erasers, sharpeners, fully equipped geometry box, 3pens with
cartridges. Keep all pencils sharpened.

9.An extra question may be attempted if you have completed and checked your paper.

10.Don’t fret if you are unable to solve a sum as it may be incorrect.

Important points to remember before Mathematics Examination

1. Commercial Maths: (Banking, GST)

 Whenever answer is in terms of money, give your answer correct to two places of
decimal. (₹ 45.5 should be written as ₹ 45.50 and ₹ 59.236 should be written as ₹
59.24)
2.Algebra:( Linear Inequations, Quadratic equations, Ratio and Proportion ,Factor and
Remainder theorem, Matrices, A.P , Reflection ,Coordinate Geometry)

 For graphical representation of inequations, list the elements of the solution set in
case of natural numbers , whole numbers and integers . In case of real numbers
write the solution set in set builder form. Solution set should be written within the
bracket. For the number line, arrows should be there on both the ends and other
than the solution set one extra element to be present on both the ends.

11
 Use the Four Figure table book provided to find the square root of a given number.
Complete your calculation taking the square root of a given number upto three
places of decimal and then round off your answer upto 3 significant figures or 2
places of decimal as instructed in the question.
 If the question is to find the ratio then the answer should also be in ratio. Ratio
should always be reduced to its lowest terms. Componendo and Dividendo is
applicable when two ratios are equal.
 Equate to zero or to the given remainder while applying the factor and remainder
theorem.
 Check the order of the matrices before matrix multiplication. Remember I
represents the Identity or the unit matrix and O represents the zero matrix or the
null matrix. If the question asked is in matrix form the answer should be given in
matrix form.
 Remember to write the coordinates of a particular point before and after reflection.
If the geometrical figure formed is to be named then close the figure by joining the
initial and the terminal vertices or as instructed. Scale to be taken as per instruction.
Answers of the the graph to be written separately on the answer sheet with proper
question number.
3.Geometry: (Similar Triangles, Circles)

 Draw the figure . Prove similarity with reasons and by naming the axiom.
 Theorems to be stated as reasons for sums on circles.
4.Mensuration:

 Substitute the value of π at the end of the sum . Value of π to be taken as specified
in the question otherwise it may be taken as 22/7.
 Check the same or different system of units.
5.Trigonometry:

 Remember the trigonometrical values of all standard angles. Use Four Figure table
book provided to find the values of non -standard angles.
 Always draw the figure for height and distance problem. Mark the angle of
depression and elevation correctly.
6. Statistics and Probability:

 Always write the formula of probability atleast once in your presentation. You can
leave your answer in fraction. Make sure that your answer is a positive number
greater than 0 and less than 1.
 For joining the points on the ogive don’t use scale, it is a free hand curve.
 For calculating the Arithmetic Mean use the method as instructed in the question.

12
∑ 𝒇𝒅
 Short Cut Method: Mean = A + where d = x – A , A = Assumed Mean
∑𝒇
∑ 𝒇𝒕
 Step deviation Method: Mean = A +
∑𝒇

 Direct Method: Mean =
