What is Bar Bending Schedule (BBS)?

 Bar Bending Schedule is a detailed list of bent reinforcement bars given in any structural concrete
element. Bar Bending Schedule Contains bar description, Diameter, spacing, shape, length, no. of

R EINFORCE
bar and weight.

https://app.reinforceqst.com
Advantages of BBS?

 Provides better estimation of reinforcement used in each structural concrete member. You can

R EINFORCE
also calculate the overall reinforcement required for the construction project.

 It helps engineer in the procurement of reinforcement steel and better stock management.

 This helps site engineer or quality inspector to check and approve reinforcement work with better

quality control.

 reinforceqst.com
Billing can be done really fast and easy using Bar Bending Schedule. It also makes easy for clients

to approve bills for Payment.

Development length

 We provide development length (Ld) to transfer stress from one RCC member to another RCC

R EINFORCE
member. It is also known as anchorage length.
 It is depend upon grade of concrete and grade of steel.

Overlap / Lap length / Lap splices
 Lap length is the length that we use to transfer the stress from one steel reinforcement to another

R EINFORCE
steel reinforcement. It is depend upon grade of concrete and grade of steel.

 When we provide overlap-

 If cutting length (CL) > 12 mm.

 We provide overlap at every floor in column.

 Number of overlap = cutting length / 12 = 0.00

reinforceqst.com

https://app.reinforceqst.com
Lap splices as per IS 456 : 2000
clause no. 26.2.5.1

 Lap splices shall not be used for bars larger than 36 mm for larger diameters, bars may be welded.

R EINFORCE
 Lap length in flexural tension shall be Ld or 30d whichever is greater.

 The lap length in compression shall be equal to the development length in compression.

 Lap splices shall be considered as staggered if the centre to centre distance of the splices is not
less than 1.3 times the lap length calculated.

 When bars of two different diameters are to be spliced, the lap length shall be calculated on the
reinforceqst.com
basis of diameter of the smaller bar.

 Bar should not be lapped more than 50% at one position.

Binding wire
 Binding Wire is used for the purpose of tying the steel reinforcement bar on construction site.

R EINFORCE
 Dia of bending bar should be 0.9 to 1.2 mm.
 Annealed wire should be used for binding.
 Generally its quantity consider 1% of total reinforcement work.
 There are 3 methods for the tying of reinforcement.
