IMPORTANT NOTE – Completing exercises


The exercises in this book are intended to be completed in a training environment of Sage X3. Individual
access to this training environment is provided by the instructor for training purposes only.

DO NOT complete any of the activities in this exercise book in your company’s live production folder or
environment for Sage X3.

Note: The exercises presented here are cumulative and must be completed in the sequence provided in
the document for the software to work correctly.

For the following exercises, it is recommended to use Chrome as your web browser.

Lab 1 – Installing the packages

Estimated duration: 1 hour

Exercise 1.1 – Log on to SQL Server Management Studio


Use the following exercise to log on to SQL Server Management Studio.

Log on to SQL Server Management Studio


• In Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, verify you can access the Web Scheduling server
using the credentials:
o Server name: X3LS\WSSQL
o Login: sa
o Password: Passw0rd
Hint: Right-click the SQL Server instance name and select Properties.

• Check that the pre-requisites, such as collation rules are set up correctly.
Refer to the correct collation rules in your student handout.
• Make note of the server name (X3LS\WSSQL) as this will be needed in later steps. Consider
copying and pasting the server name into Notepad.

Exercise 1.2 – Start the installation


Use the following exercise to locate and open the installer .exe file, and then enter the installation path.

Locate the installer .exe


• In this exercise, you will locate and open (double-click) the installer .exe file.

Note: All files and software needed for this class are located on the training image desktop.

• Click Yes if prompted to allow Windows User Account Control (UAC) to make changes to the
computer.
• A page similar to the one shown below appears.
• Select all the check boxes.
Don’t forget to also select the GUI Configurator check box located in the Installation details
section in the right panel.
Note: Refer to the Installation manual for more details.
• Click to Install the packages.

Enter the installation path


• In the Suite Installation Folder page that appears, enter the path where you want to install the
suite. In this exercise, accept the default path.
Note: The path is dedicated to the Supply Chain and should not be shared across other products.
• Move to the next installation page.

Exercise 1.3 – Enter the ACN permissions


In this exercise, you will set the ACN folder permissions and set the connection of the ACNDB Database
to the SQL Server connection.

• In the ACN Folder Permission page, make sure the share type is FULL. Keep all other defaults.
• Move to the next installation page.

Set the ACN Database – SQL Server connection


• In the ACN Database page that appears, make the following entries.
Note: Some of these values may auto-populate.

Exercise 1.4 – Enter the NICIM database credentials


Use the following exercise to enter the NICIM Database credentials. These credentials are needed to
connect to the NICIM Database.

Exercise 1.5 – Enter the Access Control Manager settings


Use the following exercise to select the location for the Access Control Manager (ACM) and enter the
base configuration settings of ACM on IIS.

Locate the Access Control Manager folder


• In the Installation folder page, keep the default location in which to install Access Control
Manager.
• Move to the next installation page.

Enter the base configuration settings


• The Access Control Manager Web Site page appears.
• Accept the base configuration settings of Access Control Manager on IIS.
• Note: The endpoint URLs should display automatically by the system.
• Move to the next installation page.

Exercise 1.6 – Enter the GUI Configurator settings


Use the following exercise to select the location for the GUI Configurator and enter the base configuration
settings of the GUI Configurator on IIS.

• In the Installation folder page, keep the default location in which to install the GUI Configurator.
• Move to the next installation page.

• In the GUI Configurator page that appears, make sure the Deploy on IIS setting is enabled.
• Accept the default base configuration settings of the GUI Configurator.

Exercise 1.7 – Enter the Web Scheduling endpoint settings


Use the following exercise to enter the base configuration settings and base address of the Web
Scheduling Service endpoint.

• In the Web Scheduling Application page that appears, make sure the Deploy on IIS setting is
enabled.
• Accept the default base configuration settings.
• Move to the next installation page.

• In the Web Scheduling Service Endpoint page, keep the default Web Scheduling Service
endpoint information.
• Move to the next installation page.

Exercise 1.8 – Enter the Analytics settings


Use the following exercise to select the location for the Analytics package and enter the base
configuration settings of Analytics.

• In the Installation folder page, keep the default location in which to install Analytics.
• Move to the next installation page.

• In the Analytics page that appears, make sure the Deploy on IIS setting is enabled.

Exercise 1.9 – Enter the Shiftbook Service endpoint settings


Use the following exercise to enter the base address of the Shiftbook Service Endpoint.

• In the Shiftbook Service Endpoint page, accept the default entries, including the base address of
the Shiftbook Service Endpoint.
• Move to the next installation page.

Exercise 1.10 – Enter the location to the X3 Interface folder


Use the following exercise to select the location for the X3 Interface Service.

Locate the X3 Interface folder


• In the Installation folder page, keep the default location in which to install the X3 Interface
Service.
• Move to the next installation page.

Exercise 1.11 – Install the packages


Use the following exercise to install the packages.

Install the packages


• A page appears displaying a list of the packages to install:
o ACN
o NICIM Database
o Access Control Manager
o GUI Configurator
o Web Scheduling
o Analytics
o Desktop Utilities
o Client Components
o X3 Interface
• Move to the next installation page.
• The installer checks the prerequisites.

• Start the installation. This may take a few minutes as the packages are being checked.

• When prompted, restart the Internet Information Services (IIS).

• When the Setup Completed page appears, click Finish.

• Restart your training image.

Lab 2 – Loading and activating the licenses

Estimated duration: 20 minutes

Exercise 2.1 – Verify the service is running


Use the following exercise to verify the SedApta Scheduling Services service is running.

• In Services, right-click and start the SedApta Scheduling Service service, if it is not running.

Exercise 2.2 – Enter the NICIM ACN settings


Use the following exercise to enter the NICIM ACN settings and log on to Nicim ACN.

Enter the NICIM ACN Settings


• From the Start menu, open ACN Manager.

• In the Nicim ACN – Settings page, enter SAGE as the company name.
• Select English as the language.
• Accept all other defaults.
• Restart your system. The changes will be applied the next time the application is started.

Log in to Nicim ACN


• In ACN Manager, using the Server menu, log in as:
o User Name: administrator
o Password: ACNADMIN
Note: After logging on, the current user displays in the status bar at the bottom of the page.

Exercise 2.3 – Load the Web Scheduling license file


Use the following exercise to load the Web Scheduling licenses.

Load the Web Scheduling license file


• From the Licenses menu, select License Management > Licenses History tab.
• Click to load the license.
• In the popup, click the folder button to locate the license file. The file should be located on the
Desktop. The instructor will provide the license file to you.
• Click OK.

Exercise 2.4 – Activate the Web Scheduling license file


Use the following exercise to activate the Web Scheduling licenses.

• Click to activate the license.
• The Nicim ACN – Enabling Key page appears.

• Copy the Installation ID that is generated and provide it to your instructor.


• In the Activation Code field, enter the activation code provided by your instructor and click OK.
Note: In your business environment, you will generate the Installation ID and send it to your local
Sage Sales team who submits it to sedApta. SedApta, in turn, would provide the Activation Code.

Exercise 2.5 – Activate the Analytics license file


Use the following exercise to activate the Analytics license.

Activate the Analytics license file


• Locate the following path:
C:\sedapta\OSA\Analytics\AryosaAnalyticsConfiguratorRF
• Open (double-click) the AryosaAnalyticsConfigurator.exe file.
• Change the language to English.
• Generate and activate the file when prompted.

• Choose a location and provide a file name.


• Provide the Analytics.req file to your instructor who will initiate the request creation for the .lic
file. Include the machine name in the request.
• Copy and paste the license file you received from your instructor to:
C:\sedApta\OSA\Analytics\Aryosa.Analytics.Web\App_Data\License
Note: In your business environment, you will generate the license request file (.req) and send it to
your local Sage Sales team who submits it to sedApta. SedApta, in turn, will provide the license (.lic)
file.

Exercise 2.6 – Verify the database


Use the following exercise to verify the database.

• Log on to Microsoft SQLServer Management Studio.

• Expand the Databases folder. In this example, you can see the NICIM database.

Lab 3 – Configuring the solution

Estimated duration: 1 hour

Exercise 3.1 – Modify the Sage nodelocal.js file


Use the following exercise to modify the nodelocal.js file.

Modify the Sage nodelocal.js file


• Open the nodelocal.js file in the following path using Notepad ++: This is the config file for
Syracuse.
C:\Sage\SyracuseComponent\syracuse\bin
• Edit the file to add “bearer” authentication as shown below.

Note: Adding “bearer” provides a more secure and rigorous authentication process for managing
access.

• Save the file.


• In Services, restart both the Syracuse services:
o Safe X3 Agent Syracuse Server NODE0
o Safe X3 Syracuse Server NODE0

Exercise 3.2 – Set the connected applications


Use the following exercise to set the connected applications in Sage X3.

Access the Connected applications function


• Log on to the Sage X3 using admin for the user and admin for the password.
• Use the Navigation icon in the upper right corner to access the Connected applications function
under:
Administration > Administration > Settings > Authentication
• Click the Actions icon and select New connected application in the upper right corner.
• Enter the following:
o Name: Web Scheduling
o Url localhost:8124
o Active Enabled
o Tokens validity 60
o Allowed user admin
• Save your entries. You will notice that the “Client ID” and “Secret to keep” values appear.

Note: Record the values for “Client ID” and “Secret to keep.” These will need to be entered in
Exercise 3.3.

Exercise 3.3 – Configure the Interface_Configure.xml file


Use the following exercise to configure the Interface_Configure.xml file.
Modify the Interface_configure.xml file
• In the Interface_configure.xml file, manually enter the following in Notepad ++. The
Interface_configure.xml file is located under:
C:\sedapta\SupplyChain\X3_Interface\Data

o Server “X3LS”
o Port “8124”
o Folder “SEED
o Protocol “http”
o Timeout “60”
o Plants “NA012”
o Log “debug”
o Username “admin”
o ClientId [Obtain from the Connected application function in Sage X3]
o Secret [Obtain from the Connected application function in Sage X3]

Note: Be sure to close Sage X3 at this time to avoid inadvertently changing the client and
secret codes.

• Save the Interface_configure.xml file and close the editor to avoid inadvertent changes.
• Restart the Sage_X3_Interface service (in Services).

Verify that you can open Analytics


• Select the Analytics node in IIS and “browse” to open Analytics using the following credentials:
o dwhadmin
o dwhadmin
Note: It is possible to open IIS by pressing the Microsoft Windows key and R at the same time on
your keyboard. In the Run window, type inetmgr and press ENTER or OK to run IIS.

• Close Analytics.

Exercise 3.4 – Create a new user


Use the following exercise to create a new user.

Create a new user


• Access and open ACN Manager.
o User Name: administrator
o Password: ACNADMIN
• Create a new user under Users > User Management.
• In the Nicim ACN – User Manager page that appears, click New User.
• In the Nicim ACN – User info page that appears, enter:
o User Name: NA012
o Language: English
o Password Level: 99
• Click Apply, and then OK.

Exercise 3.5 – Modify the new user


Use the following exercise to modify the new users you previously created.

• In the Nicim ACM – User Manager page, select the NA012 user you previously created.
• Modify the user.
• Click the Profile button.
• Select the functions needed for the user by moving them from the Right panel to the Left panel.

• Click OK, and then Yes at the message to generate the user profile.
• Click Apply, and then click OK to close the page.
• Repeat this process for the administrator user.

Exercise 3.6 – Set the user/menu associations


Use the following exercise to set the user/menu associations.

Associate the user with menus


• In ACN Manager, select User/Menu Association under the Users tab.
• In the NicimACN – User/menu Association page that appears, select Nicim (SCE) from the
Application drop-down.
• Select the NA012 user in the left panel. In the upper right panel, drag and drop the
StandardMenuNicimFull menu to the NA012 user in the left panel.
• Click OK and close the page.
• Repeat this process for the administrator user.
• Log out of ACN Manager.

Exercise 3.7 – Refresh the ACMAppPool service


Use the following exercise to refresh the ADMAppPool service and default web site.

• In Internet Information Services (IIS), select Application Pools.
• Select ACMAppPool and select Recycle.
• Expand Sites and select Default Web Site in the left panel. Select to restart (in the right panel).
Note: You may need to scroll down to see the Restart option.

Exercise 3.8 – Launch the Access Control Manager


Use the following exercise to launch Access Control Manager.

• In Internet Information Services (IIS), expand Sites > Default Web Site > ACM.
• In the right panel, select Browse *:80 (http).
• Log on as administrator with password ACNADMIN.

Exercise 3.9 – Assign roles to users


Use the following exercise to assign roles to users.

• In the Access Control Manager page, select English for the language, if it is not already selected.
• Click the Pencil button to modify the NA012 user.
• Click the Roles tab and move the needed roles from left to right. Notice there are two Roles tabs.
Be sure to select the lower Roles tab.

• Save your changes.


• Repeat this process for the administrator user.
• Save your changes and log out of Access Control Manager.

Exercise 3.10 – Import data into Sage X3


Use the following exercise to import data into Sage X3.

Import data
• Log on to Analytics:
o User name: dwhadmin
o Password dwhadmin
• Access the Gear icon in the right corner.
• Select to import.
• Click Select Files.
• Select and open the Sage_X3_Interface_Landing_Page.dat file under:
C:\Sedapta\SupplyChain\X3_Interface\Data
• In the Connections section, click the Pencil icon on the right.
• In the Edit connection page that appears, enter the following:
o Server name: X3LS\WSSQL
o User name: sa
o Password Passw0rd
o Database: NICIM
Note: It may take a few minutes for the system to search for the database.

• Click OK.
• Click OK again in the Settings page.
• In File Explorer, go to C:\sedApta\SupplyChain\X3_Interface\Data, and copy the
Sage.WebSchedulingLandingPage.CustomAction.dll file.
• Go to C:\sedApta\OSA\Analytics\AryosaAnalytics.Web.
• Create a new folder called CustomActions.
• Paste the dll file into the CustomActions folder.

• In Analytics, click the folder tile (titled “Sage_X3_Interface”) that is displayed in the interface.
• Click again to run the following landing page.

• Enter NA012 as the Parameter Value.


• Click the Apply parameters button.
• Save the scheduling configuration (far right button – Save Scheduling Config).
• In SQL Server Management Studio, check the database table, MACCHINE, to determine there
are no records.
• Back in Analytics, perform the Total Import function.
• Click Yes at all prompts.
• A message appears stating that the total import is executing.
• Go into SQL Server Management Studio again to ensure data was returned.

Exercise 3.11 – Launch the Web Scheduling application


Use the following exercise to restart the services and launch Web Scheduling.

Restart the services


• Restart these services:
o Sage_X3_Interface
o Sedapta Scheduling Service

Launch Web Scheduling


• In Internet Information Services (IIS), expand Sites > Default Web Site > Web Scheduling.
• In the right panel, select Browse *:80 (http) to open Web Scheduling.
• In the logon screen, log on as NA012 with no password. If prompted for a workgroup, select
Global.
• Within Web Scheduling, select LOCK/UNLOCK to lock the system for exclusive use.
• Select the Expand all button to display the complete list of resources of the workgroup.
