III- DEVELOPMENTAL PROCEDURES

A. Preliminary activities

Mood Setting:

Before we start, let us all stand up for a prayer. Who can lead the prayer? Are you ready to pray
children? (yes, we are teacher) (prayer) Good morning class! (good morning teacher liezel) okay,
let us first sing the action song watermelon (Action song) very good class, now arrange your
chairs, pick up the pieces of papers under your tables if theirs is any you may have your seats.
Are you ready for today’s lesson? (yes, we are Teacher) show me that you’re ready. Clap your
hands once, if you’re ready? Clap your hands twice, if you’re ready? And clap your hands thrice,
if you’re ready? Alright, it seems that you’re ready.
Okay, I have here an incentive chart. Now if you participate and cooperate in our lesson
today, I will give you points.
Alright, so this will be our objectives for today’s lesson.
1. Identify the parts of a book
2. Describe the parts of a book and
3. Appreciate the importance of a book.

B. Motivation
Now let’s have a game, this is called a puzzle game, and it will be done by groups. Each group
will arrange the puzzle pieces and post it on the board. (the first group to finish will get 3 points,
the second to finish will get 2 points and last to finish will have 1 point). Remember the rules
when having a group activity.
1. cooperate actively
2. work quietly
3. help each other.
Very good! (after the activity give amazing claps to each group).

Now lets us try to look at the activity presented, what picture have you come up with? (pictures
of Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Tarzan) these are the examples of story books. Do you love to read
books? (yes teacher) do you want me to read you a story? (yes teacher) but before reading it, let
us first know the different parts of a book. Are you ready? (yes teacher)
C. Presentation

1. Modelling (I DO) (teacher will present a book)


Okay class, now I am holding here a book. We are using books everyday in school or at home. It
is important for us to know the different parts of a book because books are important references
of many things and remember to always take good care of our books so that it will last and can
be used for many. (values integration)

Here are the parts of a book and their uses.


(Teacher will use pictures to present the parts of a book)
2. Guide Practice (WE DO)
This time we will have an activity by group. (differentiated Activities)
Group 1 hide and seek
Group 2 Mystery box
Group 3 scrambled letters
3. Independent Practice (YOU DO)
We will have another activity, but this time you will try to do it independently.
Directions: fill in the blanks with the words from the box to complete the sentences.

D. Generalizations
Again class, what are the different parts of a book?
(cover, title page, table of contents, body glossary, and the copyright page).
How many parts does it have? (it has 6 parts teacher) very Good!
