each question should not exceed 60 words.

5. Section D – Question no. 30 to 33 are long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each. Answer to
each question should not exceed 120 words.

6. Section-E - Questions no from 34 to 36 are case based questions with three sub questions and are of 4
marks each. Answer to each question should not exceed 100 words.

7. Section F – Question no. 37 is map based, carrying 5 marks with two parts, 37a from History (2
marks) and 37b from Geography (3 marks).

8. There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been provided in
few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be attempted.

In the late 19th century, Europe witnessed growing discontent among the working
class due to their poor working conditions and low wages. Industrialization led to the rise of
factories and a massive increase in the number of industrial workers. However, these workers
faced long working hours, low wages, and hazardous working conditions. As a result, various
socialist ideas began to emerge, advocating for a more equitable society where the means of
production would be owned and controlled by the workers themselves. These ideas gained
traction among the working class, leading to the formation of socialist political parties and
trade unions across Europe.

Growth of population refers to the change in the number of inhabitants of a


country/territory during a specific period of time, say during the last 10 years. Such a change
can be expressed in two ways: in terms of absolute numbers and in terms of percentage
change per year. The absolute numbers added each year or decade is the magnitude of
increase. It is obtained by simply subtracting the earlier population (e.g. that of 2001) from
the later population (e.g. that of 2011). It is referred to as the absolute increase. The rate or the
pace of population increase is the other important aspect. It is studied in per cent per annum,
e.g. a rate of increase of 2 per cent per annum means that in a given year, there was an
increase of two persons for every 100 persons in the base population. This is referred to as the
