Members and their contributions: (e.g. Juan Dela Cruz - Presenter)
Objectives:
1. Understand how typhoons move within the PAR.
2. Identify the locations affected by the typhoon.
3. Track the movement of the Typhoon.
Context: Typhoon Julian (international name: Krathon) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in late September 2024.
Although it did not make direct landfall, it brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to areas in Northern Luzon, especially the Batanes
Islands. After skimming the northern regions of the Philippines, Julian intensified as it moved toward Taiwan. Knowing a typhoon's
track, such as Julian’s, is essential for disaster preparedness. By tracking its movement in real-time, communities can take
precautionary measures, such as early evacuations and reinforcing homes and infrastructure.
Directions: You have 10 minutes to answer the worksheet.
Plot Coordinates: Use the provided coordinates to mark the typhoon’s movement on the map within the PAR.
Draw the Path: Connect the plotted points in sequence to trace the typhoon’s journey.
Analyze: Identify areas affected by the typhoon along the path.
Reflection: Answer questions about the impact of tracking typhoons and how it helps communities prepare.
Enhance: Use colors to mark phases like entry, landfall, and exit from PAR (optional).
