CONGRUENCE OF TRIANGLES

GROUP 3
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
a. recognize congruent triangles;

b. identify the corresponding parts of congruent

triangles;
c. apply the SSS, SAS, and ASA congruence
postulates to prove triangles congruent;

d. apply the LL and LA congruence theorems to

prove right triangles congruent
CONGRUENCE

Term used to define an object and its

mirror image. Two objects or shapes are
said to be congruent if they superimpose
on each other. Their shape and
dimensions are the same.

Therefore, two triangles are congruent

when its same shape and size but it can
be different in orientation. It can be rotated
or reflected.
“CPCTC”
CORRESPONDING PARTS OF CONGRUENT TRIANGLES ARE
CONGRUENT
CPCTC theorem states that when two triangles are congruent, then every corresponding
part of one triangle is congruent to the other. When two or more triangles are congruent then
their corresponding sides and angles are also congruent or equal in measurements.

SSS, SAS, AND ASA
POSTULATES
SSS POSTULATES

If three sides of one triangle are

congruent to three sides of another
triangle, then the triangle are congruent.
SAS POSTULATES

Two sides and the included angle of

one triangle are congruent to two sides
and the included angle of another
triangle.
ASA POSTULATES

Two angles and the included side of

one triangle are congruent to two
angles and the included side of another
triangle.
State the postulate that can be used to conclude that
