ASSIGNMENT

Q.1) Two circles touch each other internally. The radius of the smaller circle is 6 cm and
the distance between the centre of two circles is 3cm. The radius of the larger circle is
a) 7.5cm

b) 9cm

c) 8cm

d) 10cm

Answer :
Diagram for the following question is as follows:

We have been given that Two circles touch each other internally. The radius of the smaller circle is
6 cm and the distance between the centre of two circles is 3cm.

From figure,

The radius of the smaller circle (AB) = 6 cm

The distance between the centre of two circles (OA) = 3cm.

The radius of the larger circle (OB) = radius of the smaller circle (AB) + distance between the centre
of two circles (OA)

OB=AB+OA

OB=6+3

OB=9cm

Henceforth, The radius of the larger circle is option (b) 9 cm.

Q.2) Select the Venn diagram that best illustrates the relationship among the following
classes Whisk, Utensil, Sickle

a)

b)

c)

d)

Answer :

Here we First need to understand the meaning of :

“Whisk , Utensil and Sickle”

Whisk : a kitchen tool that you use for beating food such as eggs and cream

Whisk

Utensil : a tool with a particular use, especially in a kitchen or house

Sickle : A sickle is a hand tool used for harvesting crops, cutting grass, and clearing brush:

Sickle
Logic :
Here we understands that Whisk is a type of Utensil but Sickle is not a utensil ,it is an
farming tool. So Venn diagram (b) shows this type of relation so the answer is (b)

Q.3) In a certain code language, ‘ALPINE’ is coded as ‘171’ and ‘SPRING’ is coded as ‘83’.
How will ‘CAPITAL’ be coded in that language?
a) 93

b) 124

c) 186

d) 62

Answer :
Given : ‘ALIPNE’ is coded as ‘171’ and ‘SPRING’ coded as ‘83’

Let’s check logic here :

For ‘ALPINE’

LETTERS POSITIONAL VALUES

A 1

L 12

P 16

I 9

N 14

E 5

Some of these positional values = 1+12+16+9+14+5 = 57

Number of vowels = 3 ( A , I , E )

= 57*3 = 171

Similerly now check for ‘SPRING’

LETTERS POSITIONAL VALUES

S 19

P 16

R 18

I 9

N 14

G 5
Some of these positional values = 19 + 16 + 18 + 9 + 14 + 5 = 83

Number of vowels = 1 ( I )

= 83*1 = 83

So The logic here follows is : Addition of place value of given letters * Number of Vowel

Let’s apply same logic for ‘CAPITAL’

LETTERS POSITIONAL VALUES

C 3

A 1

P 16

I 9

T 20

A 1

L 12

Some of these positional values = 3 + 1 + 16 + 9 + 20 + 1 + 12 = 62

Number of vowels = 3 ( A , I , A )

=62*3= 186

So option (c) 186 is correct answer.
