PVT Keywords
 For Oil:
 “Dead Oil”: PVDO and PVCDO
Oil with constant amount of dissolved gas, which does not come out in the
reservoir.
 “Live Oil”: PVTO and PVCO
Oil with varying amount of dissolved gas which can be liberated inside the
reservoir. Must use these with DISGAS phase.
 For Gas:
 “Dry Gas”: PVDG and PZVG
Gas with constant amount of vaporized oil, which does not come out in the
reservoir.
 “Wet Gas”: PVTG
Gas with varying amount of vaporized oil which can be liberated inside the
reservoir. Must use this with VAPOIL phase.
 For Water
 PVTW: Does not mix with the hydrocarbon phases

Density: The data comprises three fluid densities

➢ As a simple function: ROCK

Saturation Functions Keywords

 Kr and Pc input in tabular format against saturation.

 2 main keyword families available to enter gas/oil/water data


 Family I: SWOF, SGOF, etc
Input two-phase oil/water and oil/gas Kr
 Family II: SWFN, SGFN, SOF3, etc
Input Kr for each phase separately
 Cannot mix the two in the same ECLIPSE run

 Petrel will only export Family I. Most lab reports are provided as
Family I.
 Family II is more flexible. Internally, ECLIPSE converts all tables to
Family II.
