Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

Grade Level 3 Subject Computer QUARTER 3rd Week 1


Date: March 07, 2024

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. identify the different parts of the Microsoft Word Environment;
b. practice the appropriate and responsible use of Microsoft Word
and the computer; and
c. Launch, exit, and utilize Microsoft Word with ease and
confidence.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Lesson 15: The Microsoft Word Environment

III. PROCEDURE
The learners, together with their teacher, will start
the lesson through an opening prayer, which will be
a. Preparation
led by the volunteer student, greetings, and through
simple movement exercises. After the previously
mentioned activities, the teacher showcase the
lesson objectives and through a PowerPoint
Presentation and will let the learners read them.
The teacher will show the following app icons to the
learners through the PowerPoint Presentation:
b. Motivation

The teacher will select learners who will raise their


hand to provide their answers after the teacher asks
the following questions:
1. Do you know the names of these applications?
2. Who among you uses the applications shown?
3. Last quarter, we learned about hardware and
software. In which category do these apps belong
to? Are they considered hardware, or software?
 Introduction of the Lesson
To properly introduce the lesson, the teacher will
c. Procedure ask the students the following questions:
1. Among these five (5) apps, which do you think is
our topic today?
2. Have you tried using Microsoft Word?
3. What is it mainly used for?
 Lesson Proper
To help the learners expand their knowledge about
the Microsoft Word Environment, the teacher will
utilize a PowerPoint Presentation and facilitate an
interactive discussion to tackle the following
concepts:
1. Microsoft Word - Microsoft Word is a word
processing program that was first developed by
Microsoft in 1983. Since that time, Microsoft has
released an abundance of updated versions, each
offering more features and incorporating better
technology than the one before it.
2. Parts of Microsoft Word:
 Ribbon
 Tab Selector Button
 Rulers
 Document
 Status Bar
 View Shortcuts
 Zoom Slide
 View Ruler Button
 Screen Split Button
 Title Bar
3. Uses of Microsoft Word
 Letters
 Reports
 Circulars
 Applications
 Notifications
 Greeting Cards
 News Letters
 Magazines
 Exams
 Quizzes
4. Responsible use of the computer
Before proceeding to the computer laboratory, the
teacher will present some reminders in the responsible
use of a computer.

 Hands-on Activity
To enrich the learners’ newly acquired knowledge,
d. the learners will participate on a hands-on activity,
Application: which will be held in the computer laboratory.
The teacher will ask the students to make two (2)
lines, one (1) for boys and one (1) for girls. The
teacher will lead the way to the computer
laboratory.

In their hands-on activity, the learners, guided by


their teacher, will go over the different parts of
Microsoft Word and the function of each.

After the activity, the teacher will once again ask


the learners to make two (2) lines and lead the way
back to the classroom.

 Generalization
Through a recitation, the teacher will ask the
following questions to the learners:
1. What did we do inside the computer laboratory?
2. What were the parts of MS word that you were
able to use?
3. What were the parts of the MS word that saw
while using MS word?
4. Does MS word make our lives easier or harder?

As the learners provide their answers to the


questions, the teacher will enrich them to enhance
learning.
IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will provide a worksheet consisting of 5 items only.
V. ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will ask the learners to bring home their books and answer page
194 Test 1 on their Computer Books.
