Homework Problems

1. Find the volume of the parallelepiped whose edges

are represented by ⃗ = 2 ̂ − 3 ̂ + 4 , ⃗ = ̂ + 2 ̂ − ,
⃗=3 ̂− ̂+2 .

2. The position vectors of A, B, C and D are 2 ̂ + 4 , 5 ̂ +

3√3 ̂ + 4 , −2√3 ̂ + and 2 ̂ + respectively. Show

that ⃗ and ⃗ are parallel and = .

3. Find the angles , , , which the vector ⃗ = 3 ̂ −

6 ̂ + 2 makes with the coordinates axes and also
show that + + = 1.

4. If the position vectors of the three points , and

are (2, 4, -1), (1, 2, -3) and (3, 1, 2) respectively. Find
a vector perpendicular to the plane .

5. Find the area of the triangle having vertices at (1,
3, 2), (2, -1, 1), (-1, 2 3).
6. Determine a unit vector perpendicular to the plane
of ⃗ = 2 ̂ − 6 ̂ − 3 and ⃗ = 4 ̂ + 3 ̂ − .
7. Verify that the vectors 2 ̂ − ̂ + , ̂ − 3 ̂ − 5 , and
