COSEC CENTRA: Prerequisites for Software Installation

Matrix COSEC CENTRA is a web application for Microsoft Windows. It can be installed on any PC,
Laptop, Physical or Virtualized Server (on-premise, Private Cloud or Public Cloud).
It runs on Microsoft Windows 7 Professional or higher versions.

Install the below Prerequisites before running the COSEC Installation setup for the
COSEC CENTRA application.

1. Internet Information Services (IIS) 3. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 or above

2. .NET Framework Version 4.5 4. Crystal Reports 13.0.x
(for COSEC version V12 onwards)
1. Internet Information Services (IIS) Installation Steps:
Open ‘Control Panel’ → ‘Programs’ → ‘Turn Windows features on or off’.

The system will ask for Windows Security warning, click Continue to proceed.
Windows Features box will be displayed as below:
Select the features for ‘Internet Information Services’ and ‘Web Management
Tools’ selection.

Select the features as shown below for ‘World Wide Web Services’ selection.

Click OK button to start the installation.


Verify by entering the http://localhost/ in Internet Explorer.

2. .NET Framework Installation Steps:


Download .NET Framework 4.5 set, for COSEC version V12 onwards from Browser.

Run the application.


Read and accept the license terms, then click on Install.

After successful installation, click Finish to exit the setup.

To install .NET Framework on Windows 10, run ISO file or Installer CD on the system.

3. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 or above:


Below are the steps for installing Microsoft SQL Server for COSEC CENTRA.

3.1 Installation Steps:


Download the SQL Server 2008 R2 or above version setup from Microsoft Website.
Run the setup and click on the New SQL Server stand-alone installation option.

Accept the license terms and click on Next.

Click on Select All button and then click on Next.


Enter the Named instance and click on Next.

In Service Accounts, check ‘Startup Type’ as Automatic and click on Next.

Select Authentication Mode as Mixed Mode.


Set the password for the SQL Server system administrator (sa) account and click Next.
Click Next.

Click Close to complete the installation.

3.2 SQL Server Configuration Manager:


The Installer must enable the appropriate protocols from the SQL Server Configuration Manager
to allow connectivity to the SQL server.
Navigate to the ‘Microsoft SQL Server 2012’ option from the Start button on the Windows desktop.
Go to Microsoft SQL Server 2012 -> SQL Server Configuration Manager.
SQL Server Configuration Manager page opens as shown below.

Select ‘Protocols for MSSQLEXPRESS’, right-click on TCP/IP option in the right pane and select
the Enable option.

System will prompt that the changes have been saved, but it will take effect only after the service
is restarted.
Click OK to continue.
Go to Properties, define TCP Port 1433 (default port). If this port is already used at the client’s side,
then define any other port by contacting the IT person.
Select the SQL Server Services from the left pane.
Restart the SQL Server and SQL Server Browser services by right-clicking on the options and
selecting the Restart option as shown below:

Note: For installing COSEC CENTRA using Oracle Database, refer to the document: Installation of
COSEC CENTRA using Oracle Database.

4. Crystal Report Installation Steps:


Download the setup file of SAP Crystal Report (Version 13.0.20 to avoid report back tab issue)
from SAP Website.
For 32 bit PC, download SAP Crystal Report of 32 bit and for 64 bit PC, download
SAP Crystal Report of 64 bit.
Run the setup as per the following steps.
Click Next.

Read and accept the License Agreement, and then click on Next.
Click Finish after the successful installation of Crystal Reports.

After the successful installation of all the prerequisites, run the COSEC CENTRA setup.
