Chemistry practicals

1.Experiment 1
Procedure :
1.take 5 ml ethanol( clear,colourless) in a conical
flask using a measuring cylinder
2.take a paper and fold both its corners
3. put it inside the weighing machine and press
tare
4. then measure 0.5-0.6 g of iodine(violet,black)
and put it in the conical flask
5. mixture well until it’s a solution(VERY VERY
IMPORTANT TO HAVE A PROPER MIXTURE). Brown
colored solution.
6.Add 5% NaOH drop by drop with a dropper
until the solution turns pale yellow . iodoform is
formed as a precipitate.
7. let the ppt settle for 10 minutes.
8. filter off the ppt in the filter machine(this step
they will do it for u)
9. bring the ppt and take half of it on a beaker
(not all)
10. add 2 ml of ethanol and heat the mixture
until turns into a solution .
11. let the solution cool down .observation :
formation of crystals .
