Cambridge Intro- How Technology Has Evolved
There are many pieces of technology that have evolved into very impressive things. Smartphones, for
example, have become very advanced and popular. Wi-fi has helped connect and entertain users
through crisis, helped transform education, extended the capabilities of healthcare providers, and
assisted in the creation of new technologies, industries, and careers. Since its introduction in 1997, the
ongoing evolution of Wi-Fi has led to more secure and reliable connections. Its major commercial
breakthrough came in 1999 when apple introduced the first mass-marketed consumer products with Wi-
Fi connectivity, it’s Airport wireless base station, and iBook. Bluetooth has also helped to make things
easier for users and help improve technology. The origins of Bluetooth can be traced as far back as 1994
when Dr. Jaap Haartsen was tasked with finding short-range radio connections. Dr. Haartsen came up
with a way to use frequency hopping techniques to ensure that Bluetooth connections are reliable and
tolerant to interference.
