Practice, Practice & Practice
“Practice is all you need when learning Maths.” - Everybody
Even I will say the same but only after knowing these 2 things.

What to practice?
How to practice?

What to practice?
Problems, obviously!
But where will you practice from? There are too many sources
available to us these days.
So here are the best books you need.

How to practice?
Maths is not difficult. It’s just not obvious.
But it is actually very easy to score in Maths.
(In any subject, actually.)
It’s a simple 3 step process that works almost
everywhere!

To develop interest in Maths, you don’t need to

study for hours and hours. You just need to
develop an interest in solving puzzles and
problems. Because they’re all about ‘Logic’, just
like Maths.

Coordinate Geometry
How to understand Coordinate Geometry?
How do you make it interesting?
How do you tackle the problems?

Coordinate Geometry is the back-bone of most concepts in Maths. And it’s actually easy to understand it!
If you understand the logic behind the “locus” concept, then coordinate geometry becomes very interesting and easy
to understand.

You need to keep these things in your mind while practicing problems.
1. The key formulas used and their conditions (where they work and where they don’t).
2. Observe how the properties of the graph changes as you make minor changes to the equation. (Use Desmos!)
3. Identify the differences and similarities between different cross-sections (circle, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola) and
how these properties are associated with their respective graphs.

PRO TIP: Most formulas and equations are dependent on the basics and a few conditions. So only remember the basic
equations and conditions and try to derive the other equations (like parametric equation). You’ll remember them as well
as you practice more.
Algebra
Algebra actually tests both your logic and memory. But in reality, algebra is where you can score easily when compared
to the other sections. While other sections are either difficult or lengthy, algebra is relatively and straight-forward, only if
you know the logic.

You can easily score from these chapters - quadratic equations, progressions & series, statistics and matrices.
For that you just need to remember the basic formulas and practice as many problems as you can.

But you will get an advantage from algebra only if you get better at P&C, probability and complex numbers.
Probability will become easy if you’re good at P&C, and for P&C, you need to practice different variety of problems.
So instead of practicing similar problems, try to practice different kinds of problems from P&C and probability while
developing you problem-solving skills.

Complex numbers is actually closely related to coordinate geometry if you observe carefully. So, learn how to convert a
complex numbers problem into a coordinate geometry problem, and once you do that, you can easily score more than
what you can by memorising the methods individually.
Calculus
Calculus is the bridge between algebra, geometry, and physics. Calculus is all about understanding how things change. If
you understand how to interpret the “rate of change” you'll find calculus quite exciting! Though there are many difficult
questions from this section, you can actually score enough if you focus on the basics primarily. Learn basic concepts,
like limits & continuity, differentiability, applications of differentiation, area under the curve etc.
But this is where most people get stuck. If you can make calculus your strength then you are already better than 90% of
the people. For that, you should be able to visualize the concepts, coz calculus problems are both lengthy and difficult.

While solving problems:

1. Break down the problem into smaller parts and work your way up.
2. Identify the fundamental concepts and formulas behind the complicated problems and practice a variety of
problems on them.

PRO TIP: You can check this playlist out to get a intuitive understand on calculus and improve your visualization.

Vector Algebra
Vector Algebra helps you understand complex physics problems. Vector Algebra is actually quite intuitive once you
grasp the fundamental concepts. If you understand the logic behind vector operations and their geometric
representations, Vector Algebra becomes intersting and much easier to understand.

Keep these points in mind while practicing problems:

1. The key operations (addition, subtraction, dot product, cross product) and their geometric interpretations.
2. Visualize how vectors change as you manipulate their components. (Use GeoGebra for 3D visualization!)
3. Identify the connections between vector operations and their applications in physics.

Most vector problems can be solved using a combination of basic operations and properties. So, focus on mastering
the fundamental concepts and try to derive more complex results. You can mostly find formula based questions on this
topic. So to score more from this section, you need to practice the formulas and problems as much as you can.
Trigonometry
Trigonometry can actually be easy if you go beyond triangles. Trigonometry isn’t just about triangles. Try to interpret the
concepts through a unit circle. As you work with graphs of different trigonometric functions, you’ll start seeing how
these curves shift, stretch, and compress with changes in their equations. Visualizing these transformations can simplify
complex questions. Trigonometry can easily improve your score as it is relatively easier and less time-consuming, if you
just understand the fundamental concepts and their graphical and physical interpretations.

When practicing problems:

Trigonometric identities are your shortcuts in many problems. Derive them at least once so you can memorize them
easily.
Understand the patterns of questions. Identify which of the formulas is solving a certain kind of questions.

PRO TIP: Though there are many formulas and relations, you don’t need to remember all of them. Just memorize the
basic relations and formulas and some conditions that will help you derive the other relations immediately. Just apply
the conditions to the formulas you know. This way you can reduce the amount of information you need to memorize.
General Tips
1. Master the basics: Understand the core concepts of all the chapters and derive the complex formulas and
relations at least once each. Memorize only the core formulas & relations along with a few conditions and those that
take more time to derive. If you can derive something in very less time, don’t memorize it!
2. Break down problems: Most complicated problems are made up of smaller, easier steps. Break the problem down
and tackle it one part at a time.
3. Identify patterns: Most problems work on the same basic principle. But the questions are framed in different ways.
So learn the patterns from different problems that you practice by looking for the basic concepts that are solving
the problem.
4. Practice variety of problems: It’s important to cover as many kinds of problems as possible to get better score.
5. Visualize concepts: Use graphing tools like Desmos and GeoGebra to visualize the concepts.
