Scenario
A tense meeting is taking place at Centraltown Investment Banking Group.
Brian, the Head of Investment Banking is complaining loudly that the Equity Research team
has not provided coverage of a sector where they are trying to win a mandate with a
prospective client. He disrupts the flow of the conversation and constantly interrupts the
other team members. Jon, one of the junior research analysts in the team is sinking lower
into his chair, not wanting to be asked questions. He is looking down at the table, not
making eye contact with anyone. Maria, the Head of Research responds to Brian’s
complaints confidently and suggests some alternative strategies for the team. Leslie,
another research analyst responds to Maria in a sullen tone of voice, “Well, you can do it
that way if you really want to.”
