 1. VASTU SHASTRA AND ITS URJA
VastuShastra is based on ancient philosophy of balancing Five Elements viz. Fire, Earth, Air,
Water & Ether finding there directional strengths. When there is an imbalance between these
energies it leads to some sort of sorrows, failures, tensions and poor economic conditions.
VaastuShastra also helps in creating an equilibrium between Man and material by utilizing the
natural energies available to mankind in the form of metals, gems, Rudraksh, etc.
This so called energy also known as URJA has a significant place in vastu. Urja is primarily of two
types – Pranik and Jaivik .Pranikurja is a form of Male upward moving energy representing
moksha ruled by lord Shiva whereas Jaivik is more settled form of female energy representing
attachments to mother earth ruled by Ma Shakti.
In Vastu all the eight directions are energized by these two sources of energies known as Pranik
and Jaivik. The ninth part that is the center which itself is in a state of ZERO energy is a
convergence point of two energies flowing and helps in equal distribution to all eight Directions.

For a healthy Vastu balancing of these pranik and jaivikurja plays a very important role. Any
hindrances or obstacles makes a vastu unhealthy leading to inauspicious results. These are the
reasons why North, East and their Subsectors are considered auspicious.

As seen above, convergence point of Pranik and Jaivikurja is at north-east direction called Ishaan.
This is basis of formation of life. As urja is must for life, Convergence at Ishaan makes it most

Yogashastra speaks of three basic energy streams in a human body i,e.

Chandra Nadi – North, North-east, East – the source of convergence of Pranik and Jaivik forms

It is also known as Ishaan, considered as very auspicious.

That is why temple (place of worship or prayer room) should be made in North-East, so as to fulfil
the purpose of worship, i.e. getting connected with IshtaDevta or inner Self. This will facilitate your
intuition to operate and govern your life with wisdom.
The weight should be minimum on this corner or side, should be lightweight, and open. We get
wealth, health & knowledge, spiritual development, overall prosperity from this direction. There
should be slope in North, North East or East direction.

If North, North East or East directions gets more weight or gets obstructed there will be maximum
losses.

Auspicious things to place in North, North East or East Direction are well, underground water tank,
terrace in Flat, Garden or swimming pool in Bungalow.

South-West (SW) is the zone of excellence, skill, relationships, love, family bonding and ancestors
(pitra).

The South-West (SW) zone is that of mutual (family) relationships, and whenever there are
problems in these relationships (gap, stress, bitterness), then remedies to be done. According to
Shashtras, it is also the zone of ‗ancestors (pitra)‘, because the domain of relationships is related
to them. Our relationships begin because of our ancestors—the DNA configuration and lineage,

which keeps it together. Firstly, rituals dominate and then the relationship of husband and wife is
created. Their DNA interacts and a child is born; this whole connection forms in this way.

Ancestor's Photographs in This Zone.
It is mentioned in Vishwakarma Prakash, SW zone is recommended as the place to keep shastras
(weapons or tools). In the olden days, weapons mainly meant guns, bows and arrows, swords and
so on. These days, apart from any weapons of traditional type, it also includes the medium
through which a person practices his knowledge or uses his skills. It could be weapons (for a
soldier), pen and pen-holder (for a writer), reference books, dictionary, thesaurus (for a scholar), or
stethoscope (for a doctor) or a computer.

wishes. The results will be below expectations, and your efforts will go waste. If there is a bedroom

5.PLOTTING AND REPORTING IN INDIAN VASTU SHASTRA

 Plotting in Indian VastuShastra

Plotting plays a very important part in analysing Vastu as, without it becomes very difficult to find
the directional strength.it also holds at most importance as how to do rectify the vastu defects.

The plotting can be done graphically on graph paper or in any architectural software.
Only the measurements of the vastu must be taken correctly i.e. on zero level errors.

First step in potting is to correctly mark North Direction. For this use authentic
compass. Consider the centre of the North wall of the vastu and mark the Actual North. The
defection in the degrees between virtual and actual North will help in plotting actual north
graphically.

Take a graph paper fix the scale. Then draw the outer walls on it with their lengths
consider the north wall centre as virtual North. Then with the help of pro- circle mark the deflected
degrees between actual and virtual north to obtain actual northgraphically. Once actual north is
obtained start cutting entire vastu degree at either 450 to 8 directions or 22.50 to get all 16
directions. Mark the centre too.

Then draw the internal structure say Bedrooms, Toilets, Living Room, Kitchen, etc.as
per there lengths according to the scale taken.

Do not forget to name each room and also to mark the entrance of the house. Also
mark anti clock or clock wise opening of main door. Other minutes details like Gas stove,
drainage, sink, temple, T.V. unit area etc. can also be plotted for accurate reporting. Cuts must be
shown.

For ages astrology has been used to predict the good and evil happenings in any person‘s life. It has also
been used to pinpoint the state of mind and body of a person, his illnesses and strengths. Since
VastuShastra treats Vastu as an individual – it‘s good and bad or defects can also be pinpointed with
astrological intervention. In astrology we consider lagna in east direction, 7th house in west, 4th house in
north and 10th house in Southern direction. We can co-relate this direction with the directions of the vastu to
decide effective remedial measures against VastuDoshas.

7. Types of Remedies
In VastuShastra, to balance the Vastu certain remedies are mentioned in the Vedas.

Vedic Remedies includes Havan, Vastu Shanti, Vastu Puja, DhatuAdhyay – Therapy,
RatnaAdhyay – Therapy, Crystal Remedies, Color Therapy, etc.

Mirror Therapy

Mirror symbolizes water. It is auspicious to place mirror in the North & East directions. Also
considered to extend the direction.

Black Horse Shoe

Black Horse Shoe should be fitted on the Main Door, it is best if shoe of a black horse is obtained.
It removes many types of problems.

Fire or Agni Therapy

Fire has the power to burn many types of evil & negativity.

● Lit cow ghee lamp in the morning. (Cow ghee has sulphur, sulphur is best to remove –ve
energy)

● Til oil (Sesame seed oil) lamp in the evening. (Mustard oil lamp outside the house only)

● Light Til oil lamp in west on Saturday evening makes your marketing & finances prosper.

RahuAdhyaya is mentioned in Maansaaram. It is Peripheral Grid Segment wherein gems are

placed in peripheral areas as shown in the above diagram. The energy flows in clockwise direction
but through circumference of Vastu Sectors. If centre is Blocked/Damaged than perform
Rahuadhyaya. Best suitable for flats and attached premises where center or brahmasthana gets
blocked by wall or common wall is shared with neighbours. Also for VidishaVastuRahuadhyaya is
advisable.

Vidisha : If North is turning 45∘ or more i.e. NW will be in centre that is called Vidisha. Rahu isthe
karaka for Vidisha.

Suppose SW is Cut - Place Neelams in the three corners of the cut after performing puja and
placing appropriate asana.

*Rakshasa at the corner of vastu can enter very easily from cut corner.
*If any house is empty or abandoned for 3 yrs than it can be possessed by negativities. If you have
to do remedy of such a place then enter the premises with some protection. Wear Tiger‘s eye
bracelet, Ram RakshaYantra, socks (do not enter barefoot), keep cloves with you, Remedies of
such a place is to wash floor with salt and than do NavchandiHomam.‖

Procedure to install gems -

Install performing pooja of gems, spread spoonful of appropriate grain according to the gem as its
aasana on marked place where gem is to be installed or even a copper Swastik plate with mantras
can be placed as aasana and then place gems with pointed tip of the gems facing upward and flat
surface on the grains than cover the area with cement.

8.Miscellaneous Remedies

1. Ganesh Puja, Navagraha Shanti, Vastu Shanti, NavchandiYagna, Havana.

2. Do not use old used furniture, fixtures, vessels & utensils in New House or premises.
3. SW corner is cuts, extended or door in SW, PitruDosha shanti, Pinddaan, Narayana Naga
Bali should be performed.
4. Monday or on the day of Pradosha perform Rudri-path or offer water/milk to Shivji.
5. Keep at least 5 Gods pictures viz, Ganesha, Ambamata, Ravi (Surya), Vishnu (Guru), Shiva
in Temple at home.
6. If puja is not performed in the temple of a house for long time than before restarting puja
Vastu puja should be performed.
7. Store room or Basement should not be kept empty or cluttered. It should be well organized.
8. SW room should not be kept empty, heavy articles or storage should be placed in SW
corner or room. SW room should not be given on rent.
9. If water is flowing (gutter/drainage) in any direction except N, NE, & E, place Dancing
Ganapati facing that water.
10. If Gutter/drainage line is going under the house place Panchmukhi Hanuman facing SE
direction
11. If there is a empty wall while entering a house place Shree Yantra ,Ganapati picture or idol.
12. To get rid of all the Shailyadosha (bones buried in the land) & other doshas affecting from
earth perform puja for Varahaavatara with Bhudevi (bore holding earth globe).

 13. If main door is facing stairs going downwards from the door, or lift is opening exactly
opposite the main door, place flowering plants or fruit bearing plants in a pot or such
pictures should be hanged near the door in the outside portion.
14. Put Name-plate on the door may it be simple, its shows ownership of the house.
15. Umbra patti is must, ideally it should be made from woods of phanas, mango, jamun, etc.
depending on the direction of Main Door. Teak wood is the most common one allowed in all
directions.Wood should not have knot or joints.
16. If door is opening anticlockwise than place 5 or 7 spiral swastika made of copper.
17. While opening or closing the door it should not make cracking or creepy sounds.
18. In house temple light lamp of cow ghee in the morning & light lamp of til oil in the evening.
After sunset light lamp outside the door.
19. To ward off negativity to enter in the house, draw rangoli with natural material, hang toran
made of Genda flower (marigold).
20. Non-working clocks, rotten flowers should not be kept in the house.
21. Placement of Ashta-Laxmi Photo frame inside the house above the Main Door is auspicious
and believed as bringer of Wealth.
22. Different faceted Rudraksha used to remove doshas. Common one is
Panchamukhirudraksha, it can be used in each direction or as per suryayantra nos.

Centre specific

Place Copper Swastik having curve at the end of the all four flowing out arms which is embossed
by the pyramid in the centre of the house with Ruby on that Swastik.

Rudraksha being a holy seed that is associated with Hindu Deity Lord Shiva is well recognised to
take care for removing vastu defects.

As a remedy Rudraksha can also be used to ward off negative effects of any Vastu. Rudraksha
can be installed in quantities as per the numbers written in Surya Yantra in specific directions as
shown in the diagram below. Only while installing take care to either install Panch-
mukhiRudraksha in the count of numbers in the Surya Yantra or install one Rudraksha each in 9
directions with count of mukhisin accordance to the numbers in Surya Yantra.

9.Fengshui
Fengshui is combination of 2 words Wind & Water. In China, Feng means wind and Shui means
water.

FengShui is based on elements rather than directions as in Indian VastuShastra.

Fengshui have 5 elements viz Water, Fire, Wood, Earth and Metal. In modern world Feng Shui is
becoming popular in countries like India, US etc. .In this branch of VastuShastra there is no need
to demolish structure rather than that rectification is possible with the use of colours, mirrors, light,
glass, bell, flute, water etc.

Fengshui concept of Energy is, it should flow. Pranic or cosmic energy is called Chi. this is
invisible energy preserve in living and non-living things. It is further divided into three parts 1st is
positive, 2nd is negative, and 3rd is bad energy.

Sheng Chi :- This is the positive Chi. When the house has vibrations of Sheng Chi it feels fresh
and bright & people are healthy and prosperous in such houses. This is upward moving energy.

Si-Chi :- This is the negative Energy or dying Chi . It is found where there is darkness , dullness,
or despondency in the house. People in such houses are ill , depressed and lack the will to do
anything. This energy is stagnant and found in corners and dead-ends. Unless something is not
done to move this chi it spreads to other areas and overcome Sheng-Chi. This presence of Si-chi
is also an invitation to Sha-chi .Its vibrational level is very low and it doesn‘t support life.
Decomposing matter, dust, clutter, dirty curtains/carpets, etc. has this stagnant energy.

Sha-Chi

This is an aggressive or angry chi &it‘s also called ‗killing breadth‘ or death energy. This chi flow is
either stagnant or channelled in straight lines (like secret arrows) which brings harm & destruction.
Chi is similar to water in the same way as gently flowing river is beneficial to transport and
agriculture while a raging torrent is detrimental and sometimes dangerous.

Chi flowing rapidly in straight lines is particularly dangerous like secret arrows. This secret arrows
by virtue of their power to conduct Sha-chi pierce any accumulations of good Chi & reduce its
positivity. These arrows or lines can be formed by straight ridges, a row of roof tops, electricity
wires, etc. Even long straight roads, or square grid buildings can generate lot of Sha-chi. Other
examples of secret arrows include long roads leading directly away from front door or windows of
the house, the sharp edges of buildings, an overhead beam or a on flyover. Even temple or flag on
Kalash can be potential source of Sha-chi. Modern life has also added Sha-chi by satellite dishes
which point in the direction of a house, long straight roads square pointed edge buildings & also in
the interiors of any house pointed edge furnitures or columns can invite Sha-chi. Blocking these
secret arrows is the cure in fengshui. This can be done moving the front door, if not possible then
hang a Pa-kua mirror on door outside or simply plant trees or walls can also help.

Thus avoid living in above type of buildings. Even near cemetery, hospital or an unoccupied
neighbours. Also sharp bridges, overhead train lines (metro) also produces cutting Chi.

In Hindu Vastugau-mukhi plot is auspicious but in Fengshui certain remedies has to be done to
even this type of plot. Below image shows how garden can work as remedy.

 Production & Destruction Cycle

These Production & Destruction Cycle is the key to enhancing or modifying the Feng shui of the
home/place. The simple rule is to enhance a sector add its related element like to stimulate wealth
sector (ie. Southeast) add its element ie. Wood so keeping a fish tank or small water fountain in
Southeast will strengthen. Wood & stimulate wealth, luck and prosperity. Similarly by using
Destruction Cycle one can minimize the bad effects of a particular element by just adding another
element that destroys it. Like applying an Earth (Mountain photo) to a sector will reduce an over
abundance of the element Fire. (See Production Cycle in reverse order) or applying water (fish
tank) to a sector will reduce the element fire (see Destruction Cycle).

Destruction Cycle
Metal makes weapons to cut down Woods,
Wood draws its essence from earth thus
deteriorating it. Earth in turn is destroyed
by water. Water in turn extinguishes or
destroys fire. Fire melts and destroys Metal.

Reduction Cycle

The third cycle, the Reduction (or Weakening) Cycle, is the exact reverse of the Production Cycle.
In the Reduction Cycle, each Element is weakened by its predecessor. In a sense, the Reduction
Cycle is more useful than the Destruction Cycle. For example, if you wish to destroy or weaken the
energy symbolized by Wood, it is easier to use Fire than Metal (the axe). This
Cycle works by using the produced Element to weaken its parent Element. An easy way to
remember this is to consider how a mother can be worn out by her children. So Wood (which
produces Fire) can be ―worn out‖ or drained by Fire.

4 Directions, 4 Celestial Animals
Chinese people has given importance to four animals as per the directions as follows,

Dragon (East)

It is symbolic creature for the direction East. This part of the Vastu should be higher so the Dragon
will protect you from inauspicious elements.
*Indian Vastu suggests to keep East lower.

White Tiger (West)

West is opposite to East & symbolized by White Tiger.

*The most auspicious site for your house or building where most Chi is accumulated is where the
Dragon & Tiger meet.

Tortoise (North)

The cold, dark north is attributed to water whose symbol is black tortoise. In China cold winds
comes from northern plains are protected by hills in North.

Phoenix Bird/Red Bird (South)

The color Red and element Fire is attributed to the direction South. This bird in this direction is
considered auspicious. It will increase your fortune. In Feng shui in the South a low hill or a low
wall is helpful.

Earth (Centre)

The fifth element is Earth is considered in the centre acting as a balance for the other four
elements.

10. School (Feng shui)

Farm School Compass School

Farm School :
The farm / form School of Fengshui interprets the landscape by observing shapes of animals and
other objects. They concentrate mainly on the configuration of landscapes, water causes and
contours.

Compass School:
The compass school rely more on magnetic directions for their interpretations. The traditional
Chinese compass is called Lo-pan. Each of 8 directions rules particular sector of life.

For generating plenty of chi through the landscape i.e. for a land to be an ‗ideal‘ land in Fengshui,
certain guidelines have to be followed. Here the concept of Farm School and Compass School are
different.

Chinese people believed that the four directions North, South, East and West are ruled by four
celestial animals (i) Dragon (ii) Tiger (iii) Turtle and (iv) Red Phoenix respectively.

Out of these four, Dragon is the most auspicious and important. It is represented by green colour.
If there is a hill that is covered by green vegetation and is healthy then it could represent a living
Dragon.

Smooth lower range of hills denotes the presence of white tiger.

High raising hills which are convex in shape at the back represents turtle.

Finally a very low ‗footstool‘ or ‗knoll‘ in the foreground signifying the Red Phoenix.

As Farm School interprets the landscape by observing shape of animals, for an ideal land, facing
South.The green Dragon must always be to the left and the white tiger to the right. This
combination must be backed by high hills denoting turtle / tortoise. In the foreground a red phoenix
bird showing a small stream of water with a mound for the bird is believed to enhance chi benefits.

Likewise Compass School interprets it as Green Dragon in East, White Tiger in West, Tortoise in
North and Red Phoenix in South. A plot in between is the most ideal one.

The Dragon here represents the aggressive Male energy (positive) the Yang and the tiger shows
the calm female energy (negative) the Yin. The tiger and dragon are present in the landscape

forming a celestial embrace. The best location for a house is the point where they symbolically join
or copulate. They are joined like forming a horse shoe. ( Diagram below ).

11. Slope of Land in Feng shui

Slope of land is also important in Fengshui like that in Hindu VastuShastra.

1) The rear side of the building (land) should be higher than the front. In

Hindu VastuShastra it is the front side of building that should be higher. Also in Feng shui only
front/back of buildings is considered & not the directions.

2) The right side of the building should be higher than the left side of the building. As per Feng
shui if the land is low it facilitates auspicious Chi to move swiftly as a result economic financial
growth is good & prosperity increases

12. Important points in Feng shui

1) De-cluttering : Unnecessary things should be moved away (decluttering). Feng shui believes in
warding off all scraps, unuseful things & old storage as this creates negative Chi or Si-Chi &
hampers the growth & prosperity.

2) Box type Bed: In case of double beds no space should be kept in between the beds, even
mattress should be one. Besides there should not any useless things stored in it. It should be

cleaned at least once in a week. These useless storage gives invitation to Sha-Chi & it affects
health as well as married life.

3) Bedrooms:Mirrors should not be kept in the bedroom especially it should not be kept opposite
to bed. The reflected part of the body is affected. Remedy is to put curtains on the mirrors.

4) The legs should not be opposite to the door of the bedroom. The arrangement of the bed should
be made accordingly. Similarly head should not be opposite to the door of the bedroom. The head
of the bed should be backed with solid wall.

5) Shape of the furniture:Furniture should not have sharp edges. It should has round corners.
Sharp corners produce negative energy (sha-chi). Bed design should never be triangular, oval
shape. In case of triangular bed tension is created with sleepless nights as it is symbol of fire. (

6) Kitchen: Placement of Water and Fire in the Kitchen is very important. Feng Shui says never
place Water and Fire either confronting each other or adjacent to each other as these are absolute
opposites to each other. Mirrors near the stove are very bad. One can get injured or even one‘s
life can come in danger.

7) Toilets and Bathrooms: The location of bathroom is not particularly critical, although the
presence of running water affects the Water or Shui balance, for more critical is location of the

toilets. Generally toilets tend to be in adjacent to bathroom. Positive Chi in bathroom due to
flowing water (balance) is flushed away in the toilets. Remedy is to put a separating wall or
partition between bathroom & toilets. Toilets are strong generator of excess yin &Sha-Chi.
Secondly the toilets door on lid should always to kept closed. Thirdly the toilets should not face
directly to the main door. Lastly there should be a ventilated lobby between the toilet & the rest of
the house.

8)Living Rooms: The living rooms must be kept clean but not overly decorated or gaudy. The
living room furniture should never have sharp edges as it may hinder social life of an individual.
Avoid L-shaped arrangements of the chairs and sofas. Arrange the sofa, chairs etc in such a way
that their backs do not face the doorway. Corners should be occupied by enlivening items such as
plants with a view to prevent accumulation of stagnant Chi. Plants soften the Yang & encourage
+ve Chi. Lot of light present in rooms promotes good energy.

9) Dining Rules in Feng shui:

Eating together improves bonding and increases love & affection among family members.
Everyday life of busy schedule fix up a time for the meal & also wait for some time if necessary for
all the members to each together. Secondly the dining table should be rectangular & should have
rounded corners as sharp edges invites Sha-Chi..

Mirrors near the dining table are good for getting Sheng-Chi. It brings good luck & fortune. Mirrors
reflecting the dining table creates are impression of doubling the food on the table. Even fresh
fruits can be placed in a bowl on the table. Hanging of pictures of delicious food near dining place
helps to create positive energy. Neither the chairs nor the table should be placed under a beam in
the wall. Remedy is false ceiling or flutes in 45° on the beam.

10) Doors: Three doors if present in any house should not be in a straight line. This make the +ve
Chi to flow away from the house. If the doors are not in a straight line the +ve Chi keep flowing in
the house for a sufficient period of time & do not flow out immediately.

The main door of your house should not open on to any obstruction like any highway, an electric
pole a flyover any source of secret arrows. Even the stair should not be aligned with the main door
however a curve staircase is allowed in fengshui. The gate and front door should not be in straight
line. A small wall can be erected like fencing.

11) Office Layout in Feng shui

Feng shui in the business environment is utmost important as in any home. The most important
consideration is to protect your back so that you don't back on to either an open door or window or
other desks. The desks should not be pointed directly at colleagues because this could give
feeling of unconscious hostility.

For any business the Southeast sector, the wealth sector, is the relevant one. Here the element is
Wood. Wood is produced by Water (Constructive Cycle). A fountain or fish pond in this sector will
enhance the wealth.

Here both the doorway & the window are striking at the back of the office worker. Further secret
arrows are generated by the additional square table.

Here the chair has solid back and faces door. Chi entering office is soothed by plants. The
additional square table is now curved to avoid secret arrows.

13. Feng shui Remedies

1) Pa KuaMirror :Pa-kua Mirror is a round shaped mirror surrounded by an Octagonal wooden /
metal frame with fengshui Ba-gua design surrounding it in Red, Green and Yellow/Gold colours

The Pa-kua has two traditional orders. They are Earlier heaven sequence and later heaven
Sequence. The later heaven sequence is used to determine or define the energy map of any
space. As a remedy Earlier heaven sequence Pa-kua with a mirror in the middle is used outside
the house on the front Door or a Window for fengshui protection purposes.

Mirrors are sometimes called ‗aspirin‘ or ‗antibiotics‘ of fengshui. Mirrors used in Pa-kua can be
flat, concave (bowing in, like a bowl), or convex (bowing out, like a dome).

Flat mirror are neutral and reflect both good and bad energies.

Concave mirror in fengshui applies when negative energy or Sha-chi outside the house needs to
be neutralized by being absorbed. It sucks the negative Chi and neutralizes it. Concave mirror
should be used when door or Window or entire house faces a road pointing secret arrows, or a
large tree, an electric pole, cell tower, mountain, downward going staircase, etc.

Using a convex mirror the negative energy is reflected back to its source without neutralizing. As
the negativities are not neutralized it is considered as most aggressive and least desirable method
as it promotes endless bouncing of negative energies. It should be used only prison, hospital or
cemetery faces any house.

The Pa-kua or Ba-gua Mirror must never, even be used indoors. It must be used only in the areas
outside home or offices. The Pa-kua mirror is not a decor fengshui item and should never be
placed in kitchen, bathroom or bedrooms.

2) Turtle/Tortoise in fengshui :The tortoise is a celestial fengshui Symbol that represents

stability and protection against bad fortune.

Selecting a fengshui tortoise made up of different materials depends upon the fulfillment of one‘s
purpose of keeping it. Like :-

i) Metal Turtle :Metal turtle should be placed in the north Pa-kua area of home as a symbol of
career energy enhancement.

ii) Stone Turtle :Stone turtle can be placed close to west facing front door to bring protection to
the main door. The stone belongs to Earth element which is nourishing for metal element
represented by West Pa-kua area.

iii) Crystal Turtle :Turtles made up of different types and coloured crystals can be used to
enhance a certain fengshui goal. For example, a rose quartz turtle can be used for its legend or
value at improving love relationships.

iv)Positioning a tortoise close to an artificial waterfall or fish tank will magnify the power of the
tortoise.

v) Placing the tortoise near the head of your bed will remove anxieties and can help with insomnia.

Note: Turtle should never to place in the kitchen or bathroom or bedroom.

vi) Dragon Turtle:The dragon turtle has body of turtle and head that of Dragon and it is shown on
bed of coins and holding a coin in its mouth. It also has one or several baby dragon turtles on its
back.

It is combination of the energy of Dragon & Stability of turtle with number of coinsindicating wealth.
The Dragon gives courage, auspiciousness and good luck & turtle gives stability longevity and
protection.

3) Aquariums :Aquariums are beautiful and potent fengshui cure to attract the energy of wealth or
wealth chi. The best area to place this aquarium is in southeast Pa-kua area of Wealth followed by
North area of Career or East are of Health. The most famous fengshui Wealth fish is the Arowana
or dragon fish. However the koi or goldfish are just as effective as Arowana.

The fish symbol is associated with abundance and wealth in fengshui, also it is associated with
energy of water. In simpler terms Water is life giver and the fish is giver of sustenance or
nourishment and so this is related to health, wealth and prosperity. The other less-known aspect of
chinese fish symbology is good companionship as fishes swim in pairs. One can look upon
specially Koi fish and definitely not Arowana as cure for love and successful marriage.

There are 3 most popular Wealth Fishes:

i) Arowana :It is also called Dragon fish. It is known to grow, very fast as well as becomes very
dominant and powerful while growing older.
ii) Koi: The typical number of Koi in a fengshui aquarium is 9 (8 brightly colored and 1 black Koi
fish). The black fish neutralize bad luck. Even 2 Koi fishes can be kept as fengshui cure to attract
love.
iii) Goldfish:This golden coloured fish is smaller in size than Koi so has gained more importance.
The golden color of these fishes shows association of gold and its gracious movement creates
good energy. The fengshui number rule for the goldfish is same as for Koi fish.

Note:Aquariums must not be placed in bedroom & kitchen.

4) Flutes: Overhead beams press down on smooth flow of ‗Chi‘ and, in a way, are burdens which
press down on luck factors. To alleviate this problem one can make use of bamboo flutes to lift the
oppression. The ideal place / areas to hang these flutes are East, Southeast & South. (check Pa-
kua diagram & Production Cycle).

The popular way to use bamboo flutes on a beam is to hang each flute at an angle of 45deg to the
horizontal facing each other with the open ends pointed up and mouthpieces down. This angle
represents the top part of Pa-kua which is considered auspicious (Octagonal shape).

These bamboo flutes are also called Hsiao and they are hanged on the wall with Red strings and
tassels.

Other uses of Flutes in Feng shui :

i) Hang a bamboo flute horizontally directly above the front door inside the house to ward off evils,
spirits & negative energies entering the house.

ii) In a retail type of shop hang the flute near the cash register especially on the Southeast wall of
wealth.

iii) In general, in offices or home a flute can be hanged on the Southeast wall to attract wealth.

5) Wind chimes :Wind Chimes are useful to circulate ‗Chi‖ and break up ‗Sha-chi‘ present in an
area. The only care to be taken in selecting a Wind Chime is the material with which it is made, the
symbols it has (if any) & no. of pipes it has.

If the pipes are made up of metal then it is best suited for northwest corner, west and north
directions. Likewise if its made up of porcelain or clay bells representing Earthy element can be
placed in Centre, Southwest & Southeast.

Symbols on these chimes can also be taken into consideration like a clay wind chime with two
hearts makes a good choice for Southwest sector of love & marriage or a chime with Buddha
image works fine with energies in Northeast sector of ‗Ba-gua‘.

Likewise the no. of pipes used also has a significance like it should be 6 or 8 pipes in a Wind
Chime which is best to increase beneficial energy while 5 is best to suppress bad or negative
energies.

6) Horse-Shoe in Feng shui: Like in traditional VastuShastra, even Feng shui gives importance
to horse shoe for remedial purpose. The horseshoe must be an actual, worn horseshoe & that too
worn by a black horse.

Secondly it must be placed outside the front door on the top with two ends pointing upwards so
that positive energy can be stored in contrast to horse shoe being put with two ends pointing
downwards would spill & positive will be lost.

7) Bamboo Plant:Bamboo in itself is an amazing plant that brings peace & happiness in our
homes. A little indoor bamboo plant has all five fengshui elements they are:

i) Wood ii) Water iii) Fire (Red ribbon) iv) Earth (stones that creates foundation) & v) Metal
(glass pot).

This plant comes in a glass pot with the foundation of rocks and the bunch of bamboos are tied up
with red ribbon.

It symbolised good fortune, wealth & family/progeny. For health improvements it can be placed in
the centre, for wealth in Southeast Sector & increase in family (VanshVriddhi) it must be placed in
East sector.

8) Laughing Buddha: Laughing Buddha is used as a cure for wealth and good luck. It showers
auspicious energy and grants joyful blessings. If laughing Buddha is kept for wealth then place it in
Southeast sector with gold ingots &

if focus is on vibrant health then place it with Wu Lou (a chinese gourd) in his hand in the East
Sector area. Laughing Buddha can also be placed close to the front door so when one enters it
can seen . The statue must be at least 2-3 feet tall for better use.

9) Chi-lin (The Dragon horse): Chi-lin has the head of Dragon & body of the horse and scales of
carp fish. It is also called the chinese unicorn. It brings blessings of good health and prosperity.

Chi-lin is very loyal to its owner and will protect the house from evil spirits.

Chi-lin can be placed near the main door or Chi-lin with four Scholastic objects can be used for
advancement of studies or for professional career advancement. It can be used in pairs too.

10) Crystal tree or gems tree :These are artificial trees with one or various crystals. But firstly
decide the specific crystals in a tree because each crystal defines a different fengshui application.
For eg. a rose quartz tree can be used as a love & romance cure in Southwest sector.

A jade tree is a helpful cure for health & can be placed in centre of house. A mixed gem tree with a
variety of colorful crystals is best for children & creativity in ‗Ba-gua‘ area.

11) Three legged frog :The frog or toad represents water element related to wealth. The money
frog or three legged toad also known as ch‘anchu will bring prosperity if it is rightly placed.

Place the frog diagonal to the front door facing inward so that money flows in or can be placed in
Southeast sector of wealth.

Don‘t place it in bedroom, bathroom or kitchen.

12) Red Phoenix Bird :Phoenix bird is one of the celestial animal governing the South area in
‗Pa-kua‘ & associated with the fire element. As per traditional fengshui school Phoenix bird is the
guardian of Main entrance or front of the house. This is because , in China , best fengshui houses
are one those that faces South. A picture of Phoenix bird can also be placed in South corner of
Fame in office as well as in home.

13) Mandarin Ducks :Mandarin Ducks are known for their love & devotion, they mate for life and
are considered loyal & devoted to the chosen partner. So there images or Statues can be used to
enhances love energies at home. The best statue of Mandarin Ducks are rose quartz statues as
they Symbolise love and a pair of mandarin Ducks made from rose quartz crystal may prove
effective cure if placed in Love & Marriage (Southwest) area of ‗Ba-gua‘.

14) Wealth Ship :This is a magnificent duplication of a sailing ship used by old Europeans to
convey gold & silver. The wealth ship is considered as a symbol of high achievement and success
in Feng shui. This model of ship is a powerful tool of bringing more income luck and protecting
current wealth luck. Only thing, it needs to be placed accurately to make its efficient use. It must
be placed in the home or office as if it is returning back with abundance of fortune in the form of
gold or coins placed in the ship A wealth ship facing Outward will cause your luck to be pushed
away.

The best place to keep the Wealth ship is in the Southeast corner of Wealth or a ship filled with
gold ingots (Metal element) in the Northwest corner.

15) Fuk-Luk-Sau :The three fengshui wealth gods also called the three immortals are Fuk – Luk -
Sau.

The Chinese god Fuk means blessings of good luck, health and happiness.

The meaning of Luk character in China is ‗official‘s Salary‘. Thus it goes without saying it
enhances the fame and success as well as provides stability by giving financial abundance.

Sau means longevity. This god has a warm smile on his face. He is holding a Staff as he is very
old symbolising longevity.

These wealth gods must be placed in an area of high visibility such as high table in the living
room. They must not be placed in areas of Kitchen, bathroom or bedroom.

Further FukLukSau are always placed in a specific order in a row. To the left is always Fuk, Luk
comes in the center and finally Sau is placed to the right.

16) Singing Bowl :The fengshui use of singing bowls is similar to use of bells. The openness of
the bowl brings an additional quality of energy. They are also a beauty to behold, both the look
and the sound opf singing bowls bring powerful energy to one‘s home. Some singing bowl comes
with spiritual symbols like Om, Buddha, etc.

Singing bowls can be used to clear negative or stuck energies as well as regularising the Sheng
Chi in the house. One can also enhance the Metal element sector of Pa-kua by placement of the
singing bowl. Singing bowls are also used to cleanse and energize the Crystals of various types.

17) Fu Dogs :Fu Dogs also known as Imperial guardian Lions were traditionally placed in front of
the palaces, temples, government offices, etc. They were symbols of family wealth and social
status and so they were placed in front of Wealthy homes.

Fu Dogs are usually displayed as a Couple. The male Fu Dog is holding a globe under his right
Paw indicating protection of the house. The female Fu Dog is holding a Cub under her left Paw
indicating strong Maternal protective instincts.

Placement of this pair is very important. The Male Fu Dog should be placed on the left side and
the Female Fu Dog must be placed on the right side. They can be placed in the house as per the
material they are made up of in relation to the sectors of Pa kua. In case of bungalow they can
also be placed, in the form of big statues, outside the Main Door.

18) Crystals :As sunlight passes through a Crystal it refracts into the colours of the rainbow.
Beams of this coloured light radiate in all directions ; each coloured beam carries a particular type
of chi energy , for eg. green coloured beam carries the tree Chi energy of the east.

Placement of Crystals :

i) Crystal ball can be hanged near the entrance, especially in Southeast sector of wealth to attract
good financial fortune. It can also be placed in a shop near cash register.

ii) The number of Northwest sector is 6 & it indicates helpful people so to promote protective
relationships with business partners and Mentors, one can use 6 crystal ball set. Crystals
represent Earth & earth produces metal in productive cycle.

iii) Sharpen learning energy with the placement of a clear crystal in the educational sector or
Northeast of a student‘s room as on the desk itself.

iv) A crystal can also be used in a window to transform any form of hard energy or ‗Sha‘ coming in

v) To enhance love and romance, one can place two crystal balls in the Southwest corner of
bedroom or living room. Two is the number of Southwest.

The crystals must always be cleansed to reset Crystal‘s vibration. This can be done by Washing
them in Salt Water or even in pure water.

19) Candles :Candles bring fire chi energy to an area. Candles can be moved wherever a remedy
is needed. So candle is most versatile remedy to bring in fire to a particular sector/area of Ba-gua.

In Southeast sector a red candle will stimulate wealth luck. It will give good finances and work
related income.

In South sector of Fame a red candle can give fame & recognition as well as fortune. It can assist
in job promotion & increase in Salary.

If one feels that his social life is suffering he can lit a red candle in Southwest sector of marriage
giving it a boost with fire energy. A deeper intimate relationship with someone can be developed
by keeping a pair of candles to each other.

Taller candles are more suitable shape as they represents tree energy which is supportive to fire.

The most favorable locations for the candles are in the East, Southeast, South, Southwest, Centre
and Northeast sectors as they represent fire and fire productive elements like Wood & Earth.

20) Chinese Coins: Chinese Coins in fengshui are used to attract the energies of wealth and
money. There are variety of Feng Shui cures that incorporate Chinese coins in their designs.

Usually it is 3 coins tied with a red colour ribbon. One can even carry this in his Wallet. The
Chinese Coin tassel can also be used in home or in offices in Southeast area of Wealth as per Pa-
kua Diagram.

21) Mystic Knot: Mystic Knot is a symbol of infinity sometimes also referred to as ‗endless knot‘.
In Chinese it is also called ‗Pan Chang‘ knot. It is one of the magical auspicious objects in
Buddhism. It is the combination of six times the infinity symbol implying that there is no beginning
and no ending reflecting Buddha‘s theory of births and rebirths.

In Feng shui, Mystic Knot is used to represent a harmonious flow of auspicious energy
uninterrupted by any setbacks, misfortunes or accidents. It is used also as a symbol of protection
from heartbreak, illness, sufferings, accidents, misfortunes, etc.

This interesting design is generally used in fengshui amulets, to decorate a Windchime or even as
a pendent of a necklace. The Mystic Knot carved out of gems like agate, jade, rose quartz, etc are
considered most auspicious.
