The steps you take early in your home-based business can have a big impact
on your success.

Here are five things to do for your first day in your home-based business.

1. Take time to check your plan.

Sit down for a few minutes to note and form how you will spend your time in
the week and be guided.

2. Tell the world you are in business.

Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement, after you have built up a group
of satisfied customers. The sooner you start bringing in money the healthier the
business will be.

3. Set up your business space.

Many small business owners start a business because they want to follow their
passion, but you will only be able to do that on an ongoing basis if you are somewhat
organized.

4. Remind yourself that you are qualified.

No matter what you sell, there are going to be some rejections.
To keep your confidence high, jot down a list of the experiences and qualities
that allow you to bring something special to your customers.
Truly care about helping people.

5. Reach out for support.

People you trust like family and friends can be your life-support, cheering you
on when your energy is flagging.
All management functions as duties of the owner, you will put these into
practice for the home-based implementation.

4
PLAN to think before doing a task. ORGANIZE to arrange human and material
resources. STAFF to select and develop manpower. DIRECT to guide, lead and
supervise towards goal. CONTROL to make sure activities conform to the plan.

The Strategies in selling you may then use in the home-based implementation.

COLD CALLING is approaching potential customers who are not expecting the
interaction. CONSULTATIVE SELLING is emphasizing to customers their need and
the solution. DIRECT SELLING is the demonstration of a product or service.
PERSUASIVE SELLING is to point out compelling reasons for clients to pay for the
product or service.

These Steps in selling may be followed by you in the home-based

implementation.
a. First - PROSPECTING is to start with the referral from customers.
b. Second - SALES PRESENTATION is to showcase the product or service to
customers.
c. Third – HANDLING QUESTIONS is usually based on costs and benefits.
d. Fourth – CLOSING is to take order or commitment to purchase or pay.
e. Fifth – BUILD LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS is to follow-up sales by checking
satisfaction of customers for repeat sales.

Have Inventory stages which can be applicable in your home-based

implementation.
a. Raw Materials Inventory (RMI) for stockpile of materials or goods
b. Work-In-Process Inventory (WIPI) for partially completed items
c. Finished Goods Inventory (FGI) for final outputs

Use the Price model with its components that is for you to compute and set the
price on the product or service you will be offering in the home-based
implementation.

TOTAL COST is the sum amount spent for the goods or service
MARK-UP is an amount added on top of the total product cost in price
Selling of GOODS computation for Price
= (Total Cost + Mark-up)/number of items for sale
SERVICE charge computation for Price
= Total Cost + Mark-up

5
Your home-based business is of good potential. Take it from Nelson Yuvilla of
Philtec Label Corporation, that, “A small idea can be the seed of a big business
venture.”
