time management
time management
For me time management has been a skill in development. I have been struggling to juggle my studies,
work, social activities and some other commitments. I have been doing researches on how a college
student can be able to fit it all and also manage to save time for myself. They are several ways to
manage time and these include:
Goal setting
Creating a checklist or scheduling
Prioritizing
Taking time off and for yourself
Setting goals on the things that you want to complete in a certain period of time and also pointing out
those things that wastes time is very important. It is necessary for one to list out the things that they
want to do and by doing so, distractions will be avoided.
One can use manual or digitalised checklists and schedules to take note of the tasks that needs to be
completed. Reminders and alerts found on digitalised calendars make one aware of the upcoming
deadlines, projects or even meetings. Having a plan makes you know what to do and also when to do it.
(Parsons, 2022)
Prioritizing is really important during studies. In most cases, one has consider the deadlines that are
more urgent and all the smaller and simpler tasks first. By completing small and simpler tasks first, you
will be able to save time to focus on the bigger and needy things.
In order to focus on my school work, I believe that I also have to create some time for myself. One has to
take care of both the physical and mental wellbeing. I have to find some time to sleep and to also spend
with friends. According to Parsons (2022), “It can also be helpful to have things to look forward to when
going through stressful periods”.

Part 2:
Goal Setting, I always give myself the time to list out the assignments that I have to complete first. I
always make sure that I start with the Discussion Forum Unit which is less time consuming and also easy
to complete.
Researching, I have been using various ways to gather information for my assignments and these include
database and internet searching. I have used Google to find good sources and ideas to complete my
assignments.
Writing, when I’m thinking, creating, gathering information, developing ideas and also revising my work,
I put it all down in writing. Writing sharpens my critical thinking and also improves my creativity.
Analyzing, when going through my sources, I first have to examine the information in detail in order to
have an understanding of how it is going to be relevant to my assignments.
I plan on mastering:
Problem solving, I will be identifying the problem to be solved first, defining the main causes of the
problem and determining a possible solution to the problem.
Planning, I want to set a weekly plan which involves all my classes, tests, breaks, assignments and their
deadline
Observing, I want to master this skill by interacting with other students, improving my reading skills and
also asking questions about what I’ve observed during classes and projects. Borkala (2002)
Editing, to improve, I have to read thoroughly, quote all mistakes and also fix the highlighted mistakes in
order to make sure that the work is understandable and good.
Second Language, I want to learn how to speak Spanish which is a language that is commonly used in
many countries and is also interesting to learn. This will be useful in my career and personal
development. Spanish is also similar to Portuguese and this will be easy to expand the excitement of
learning a 3rd language.
