Opening prayer
Good Morning . Please sit down. Before we start let us
check our surrounding if there are some trash beside or
below our chairs let us maintain the cleanliness of our
classroom.
• Checking of attendance
• Checking of preparation (presentation from the given
assignment)
• Present the objective of the lesson
Did you eat your breakfast today?
What did you feel after eating?
Elicit As you enjoy eating different foods, do you ask yourself
how this foods be digested and absorbed by the body?

Let us do THINK, PAIR and to give opportunities to

both genders, the pair must be a girl and a boy.
• Let the students solve the following mathematical problems by
supplying the
missing number in each questions. Each answers corresponds to
the names of the main parts of the human digestive system.

1. Mouth
2. Esophagus
3. Stomach
4. Liver
1. 10 + 40 = 50 5. Small Intestine
2. 6 + 20 = 26 6. Large Intestine
3. 5 x 5 = 25 7. Anus

What are these words?

The food that we eat has to undergo these different
processes before our body can utilize it.
UNLOCKING DIFFICULTIES
 Ingestion- the process of taking food, drink, or another
substance into the body by swallowing or absorbing it.
 Absorption- the process of absorbing something or of being
absorbed(absorption of water)
 Assimilation- it is the movement of the digested food
molecules into the cells of the body from where they are
used.
 Digestion- is the breakdown of food into smaller
components that can be absorbed into the bloodstream.
 Excretion- it is the process of removing wastes and excess
water from the body.

Explore (Activity • Prior to the activity, the teacher will show the Rubrics for
Proper) grading the performance.

RUBRICS/CRITERIA

Before we start in our activity, We all know that the Digestive

system has a step by step process which includes Ingestion,
absorption, assimilation and excretion.
It is the same as in ;
English Subject -There are the steps on how to write a short
story . It is called Plot or the sequence of Events in a Story. Each
event is connected to what happened earlier and what happened

later .

TLE Subject – There also has a classic method or steps in cooking.

For example, When we cook rice
First, we wash the rice.
Next , measure your rice and water. For most types of rice, you
can use a water to rice ratio of 2:1.

Then, combine the rice and water in a pot. Stir it and then put a
lid on before turning the burner on high.

Wait for it to boil.

Let it cook

MAPEH subject- In Physical education, For example in Cha-cha

dance , There are basic Steps for beginners that interested in
learning how to dance the Cha-cha.
• Start with your feet together.

• Step out to the left.

•Slide your right foot to meet your left and then back.

• Rock forward to your left foot.

 Let the students watch the Process of Digestion.

Construct a Human Digestive system model using

indigenous/recyclable materials and answer the guide
questions for 20 minutes.
*The materials depends upon the availability of products in their
barangays/locality.
*The students will be divided into 3 groups.
*An activity sheet will be provided by the teacher and students
will perform the activity by following the steps and the procedure.

Direction:
Using recyclable or indigenous materials, make a Digestive
System Model using food, plastic bag and tights to show the
journey of food through the digestive system.

Materials needed:
•Recycle plastics
• Leaves
• Yarn
•Scissors
•Marker
• Other recyclable and Indigenous materials
Explain (Post-Activity)
• Each group present their human digestive system model.
• Process students observations and/or answers.

Elaborate
The teacher will check the students work and explain some
misconception .

• What is Digestive system?

-The organs that take in food and liquids and break them down
into substances that the body can use for energy, growth, and
tissue repair. Waste products the body cannot use leave the body
through bowel movements.
It includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large
intestine, rectum, and anus. It also includes the salivary glands,
liver, gallbladder, and pancreas, which make digestive juices and
enzymes that help the body digest food and liquids.

• What part of the digestive system is involved in the process of

ingestion?
-Mouth. Food starts to move through your GI tract when you
eat. When you swallow, your tongue pushes the food into your
throat. A small flap of tissue, called the epiglottis, folds over your
windpipe to prevent choking and the food passes into your
esophagus.

What happen to the food during ingestion?

-Once swallowed, muscular contractions of the esophagus
massage the ball of food down into the stomach.

Do you feel indigestion sometimes?

- When you have indigestion, you may have one or more of the
following symptoms;
Pain, a burning feeling, or discomfort in your upper abdomen or
stomach, feeling full to soon while eating a meal or feeling
uncomfortably fun after eating a meal.
What is the importance of having a healthy Digestive
system ? As a student if you are always sick because of
unhealthy digestive system what is its effects in your life?
Imagine, were you be able to go school everyday?

That is why we need a clean environment, clean air , right food ,

surrounding ,safe workplaces can enhance people’s quality of life .
why having a healthy Digestive system is important because each
part of your digestive system helps to move food and liquid to
your body organs. Once foods are broken into small enough parts,
your body can absorb and move the nutrients to where they are
needed.
Evaluate Direction: Choose the correct functions for each digestive organ
by matching column A to column B. Write the letter of the correct
answer in the space provided.

COLUMN A COLUMN B

1.Mouth A. bile is produced

2.Esophagus B. digestion of food starts here

3.Liver C. the food remains for about 4

hours

4.Stomach D. where semi- solid waste comes

5.Small intestine E. muscular tube

6.Large Intestine F. received the undigested food

7. Anus G. holds and break the food into a
