Interview Questions:

1 What first sparked your interest in child labor

issues?
As a child growing up in a developing country, I witnessed
firsthand the harsh realities that many children faced,
being forced to work in dangerous conditions instead of
attending school. That experience instilled in me a deep
passion to fight for the rights and wellbeing of these
vulnerable young people.

2 Can you share some of the most impactful stories or

experiences that have motivated your work?
One story that has stuck with me is of a young girl named
Amina who was trafficked from her village and forced to
work 14-hour days in a textile factory. When we were able
to rescue her and reunite her with her family, the joy and
relief on her face was incredibly moving. Moments like that
remind me why this work is so critical.

3 What are some of the biggest challenges you face in

trying to end child labor practices?
The entrenched poverty and lack of economic
opportunities in many communities is a major driver of
child labor that is incredibly difficult to overcome. We also
face pushback from some businesses and governments
that are resistant to regulations and accountability
measures. Changing deep-rooted cultural norms can be an
uphill battle as well.

4 What are the most effective strategies you've found

for raising awareness and driving change?
Building strong partnerships with local organizations, faith
leaders, and influential community members has been key
to raising awareness and catalyzing grassroots action.
We've also found that mobilizing consumers to pressure
corporations can be a powerful lever for change. And of
course, rigorous data collection and storytelling are
essential to shifting mindsets.

5 How can everyday people get involved in supporting

the fight against child labor?
There are so many ways people can make a difference!
Spreading awareness on social media, writing to elected
officials, boycotting products made with child labor, and
volunteering or donating to anti-trafficking organizations
are all impactful actions. Even simple things like being an
informed consumer can go a long way.
