Semantic features
Semantic features are theoretical units of meaning that represent
the meaning of words and help determine the lexical relations between
words in a language
Semantic similarity
The number of links that must be traversed to reach one concept from
another
Semantic network
A visual representation of how concepts are related to each other. In
artificial intelligence (AI), semantic networks help organize data so that
machines can process and use it for decision-making.
Semantic analysis
The analysis of the grammatical format of sentences to determine
relationships between independent terms in a specific context. Semantic
analysis is a key task of natural language processing (NLP) systems.
Semantic search
A search that focuses on understanding the meaning of words and
phrases within the search query itself.
Semantic class
A group of words that share a semantic feature. For example, concrete
nouns include people, plants, animals, materials, and objects, while
abstract nouns refer to concepts such as qualities, actions, and processes.
Semantics Roles
Semantic roles, also known as thematic relations, are the roles that
participants play in a sentence in relation to the main verb:
• Agent: The initiator or doer of the action. For example, "Jack was
running".
• Patient: Undergoes the action. For example, "John hit Bill".
• Theme: Affected by the action.
• Experiencer: Experiences the action. For example, "Jean felt cold".
• Goal: The entity towards which the action is directed. For example,
"John threw the ball to the basket".
• Instrument: Used to carry out the action.
• Locative: Specifies the place where the action occurs
