during the prehistoric age, the industrial age, the
electronic age, and the new or digital age.

with each other, store information, and broadcast
information across the different ages.

somewhere in the
Atlantic Ocean, how do

one of the
passengers, what will
you do?

archived in libraries where
they could survive for
millennia.

headset to place you in a
computer-generated

Knowing Your Media at Different Ages.
MEDIA
CONVERGENCE
the coexistence of
traditional and new media
Roles and Functions of Media in a Democratic Society
• Channel - provides opportunities for people to communicate,
share ideas, speculate, tell stories and give information
• Watchdog - exposes corrupt practices of the government and
the private sector. Creating a space wherein governance is
challenged or scrutinized by the governed. It also guarantees
free and fair elections
• Resource center - acts as a gateway of information for the
society’s consumption. Also, it becomes a keeper of
memories of the community, preserver of heritage and source
of academic knowledge.
• Advocate - through its diverse sources or formats, it bridges
the gap of digital divide.
Performance Task 3
Create a timeline of your exposure to traditional and new
media.
1. Draft a timeline of your exposure to traditional and new
media on a bond paper.
2. Create that timeline through presentation software.
3. For each item of media, include a picture or image, year,
short description, and a personal insight.
4. Use this file name format for your output: Section-Last
Name-First Name-PT2
5. Submit your output in your class google drive link.

Internet of Things

• In your own words, define Internet of Things.

• What brought this theory about? (example: ideas, technology,
another theory)
• Do you like the concept of IoT ? Why or why not?
• In what situations do you encounter IoT in the Philippines?
• How do you think IoT will evolve and affect Filipino society in
the next 3 to 5 years?
• What do you think is the relationship / cause and effect of IoT
in media and information literacy?
Internet of Things
• a term used to describe the ever-
growing network of physical objects
that are connected to the internet.
• These objects and connections can
include anything from home
appliances to cars which are able to
communicate with each other and
share data using embedded sensors.
• it allows for the creation of
intelligent, autonomous applications
that can make decisions without
human input.
Internet of Things
• one concern is that many edge
devices have very limited computing
resources and rely on remote cloud
servers for data offloading and
decision analytics. This creates a
dependency on the server which
could lead to delays or even failures
in time-critical real-time applications
such as unmanned vehicle control
systems.
