Chapter 1. Primary Commands
The following chapter describes the top line (command line) Unicenter®
CA-Jobtrac® Job Management (hereafter referred to as CA-Jobtrac) commands
available on various CA-Jobtrac panels.
1.1 Prefix
Displays the Scheduled Event Display panel listing all events beginning with
prefix. The syntax is:

1.3 ADD
Displays the Event/Jobstream Addition panel. The syntax is:

Specify the event type by using the (,A) (,C) (,D) or (,E) options. The event
types are as follows:
,A Indicates that the named event invokes an AS/400 CLP using the
CALL command.
,C Indicates that the named event defines a command to be executed at a
particular remote node.
,D Indicates that the named event is a dummy job.
,E Indicates the named event is a REXX IMOD.
Specify the GSS node name (up to 16 characters) of the executing node for the
named event with the ,N=nodename parameter. Depending on the type of
event, use the ,A=[CLPname,arg|command|imod-arg|shellscriptname,arg]
option to specify an argument to pass to an AS/400 CLP (,A event type),
REXX IMOD (,E event type), or to specify a command to be executed at a
particular remote node (,C event type). The syntax is:

1.4 ADDLOC=
Adds events (for viewing only) from location specified by nnn (any location ID
000-255) to the Scheduled Event Display panel. If the location is not defined in
the user's TRACAUTH profile, added events can only be monitored. If you
use the TRACX26 user exit, you cannot use ADDLOC=nnn to add events for
viewing. The syntax is:

1.5 ADR
Displays the active ADR (Automatic Dataset Recognition) table.
See 1.43, “JTS” on page 1-46 for editing the ADR tables.
1.6 AMR
Displays the active AMR (Automatic Message Recognition) table.
See 1.43, “JTS” on page 1-46 for editing the AMR tables.
1.7 ARG
Displays the argument to pass based on the event type. The argument is
displayed in a pop-up panel.
The Edit Argument pop-up panel is displayed for editing purposes if the ARG
command is issued from the Scheduled Event Detail panel.
The Argument pop-up panel is displayed for viewing only if the ARG
command is issued from the Event Execution Detail panel.
1.8 AUDIT
Displays the Change Audit History panel for events. The panel displays
information about changes made to an event.
1.9 AUTH
Displays the user's location Authorization Profile panel. If AUTH is entered
with no parameter, the Authorization Profile for the user entering the
command is displayed. If user ID is included, the specified user profile is
displayed. If prefix* is specified, the profile displayed is for the group of users
whose user IDs begin with prefix. If you use the TRACX26 user exit, AUTH
has no effect. The syntax is:

Displays the Authorization Profile panel for the user entering the command.
AUTH=TSOUSR
Displays the Authorization Profile panel for the user with ID TSOUSR.
AUTH=TSO
Displays the Authorization Profile panel for all users whose ID begins with
TSO.
1.10 B=
Displays a Scheduled Event Display panel listing events with the business
group name specified by bgname. Replace prefix with the first few letters of
the bgname of the events you want to display on the Scheduled Event Display
panel. The syntax is:

1.11 BROWSE
Displays either the JCL or the SCL that will be used for the event. The JCL
may be either temporary-use or production JCL. You can only view the JCL or
SCL, you cannot edit it with this command. Displays the IMOD Facility of
CA-GSS (Global SubSystem) if the event is a REXX IMOD.
1.12 BUSGRP
Displays the Business Group Status panel. The panel displays information
about each business group. You can select the busgrp and then go to the
Scheduled Event Display panel for those jobs in this busgrp.
1.13 CANCEL
Exits from a panel and cancels any changes you have made. Use this command
to exit a panel without saving any changes you have made.
1.14 CC
Displays the Step Condition Code Exceptions panel. The Step Condition Code
Exceptions panel is a pop-up panel which displays the condition code
parameters that have been defined for an event.
1.15 CCPF
Displays the active CCPF (Condition Code Program Filter) table.
See 1.43, “JTS” on page 1-46 for editing the CCPF tables.
1.16 D
Defines or executes the default command specified by command. The default
command is executed automatically when CA-Jobtrac is accessed or whenever
D is entered. The syntax is:

Executes the default command. If no default command has been defined, the
RALL command is executed. The DEFAULT COMMAND parameter is located
in the 'PROFILE' command display in the CA-Jobtrac User Profile panel.

Displays Scheduled Event Display panel listing all events with specified
dependency or dependencies. The syntax is:

1.18 DATES
Depending on security authorization, edit the specified DATELIB member (the
PRODDATE member is the default), which contains Automatic Date Insertion
rules. Optionally, adds mbrname to display the DATELIB member specified by
mbrname. Other members in the DATELIB data set might be JMFSYM01 and
EXCLPARM. If authorized, you can edit the member. The syntax is:

1.19 DATE=
Defines date parameter. Only events whose target date matches this parameter
are displayed on the Scheduled Event Display panel. This parameter remains
in effect until you change it or exit CA-Jobtrac. The syntax is:

Lists events with target dates on the fourth day of any month.

Lists events with target dates from April 11 through April 15.
1.20 DELETE
Deletes the selected event awaiting submission. The selected event is deleted
from the current schedule and put on the history file with the user ID of the
user who deleted the event. If you have CA-11, this command automatically
changes the CA-11 status of the event to PRODUCTION. Any predecessors or
successors that are related to this event are not released from dependence on
this event.

1.22 DSNQ=
Displays enqueue research for the data set name or data set name prefix
specified by dsname. The resulting display lists all users of the data set. The
syntax is:

1.23 DTFMT=
Changes the date format on Scheduled Event Display panels to American or
International format. Specify A for a date in the format of mm/dd. Specify I
for a date in the format of dd/mm. The syntax is:

Note: DTFMT affects only the CA-Jobtrac-controlled dates. The current date
in the panel header is controlled by TSO/ISPF and is not affected by
this parameter. Also see the SYS OPTS date format option.
1.24 EDEP
Displays the Environmental Dependencies panel for a specific event which
shows the environmental dependencies for an event.
1.25 EDIT
Edits JCL for the selected event or SCL for the selected schedule. If authorized,
you can edit the JCL or SCL. The JCL may be either temporary-use or
production JCL. Displays the IMOD Facility of CA-GSS if the event is a REXX
IMOD.
1.26 ENDSAVE
Exits from a panel and saves any changes you have made.
1.27 ENQ
Displays the Enqueue Research panel.
1.28 ENQN=
Displays enqueue activity for the QNAME specified by enqname. The syntax
is:

1.29 EXCLUDE
Excludes certain events from the listed events on the display based on whether
those certain events are predecessors or successors. The RESET command
refreshes the Missing Events panel. The syntax is:

1.30 FIND
Searches the display for character strings. Use single or double quotes around
string. You can limit the search to a specific column. Specify a column name
that is longer than one word in columnname1-columnname2-columnname3
format. Use the FIND command with no parameters to repeat the previous
find. The syntax is:

Finds all the occurrences of EOM in the Event Name column on the panel.
1.31 FORCE
Allows jobs to be released when CA-Jobtrac is on hold. Issuing this command
requires the use of both a line command (*) and a primary command (FORCE).
Place the '*' on the line next to the job to be forced, and then type 'FORCE' on
the command line. Press Enter. The job is allowed to run, even if CA-Jobtrac is
on hold. The job is still subject to any dependencies that it may have. It is only
released when all of its dependencies are removed.
This command does not force jobs to run when the checkpoint is locked.
The '*' line command, when specified without the 'FORCE' command, displays
a hex dump of the checkpoint record for the event. This command is typically
not useful to operators. It is intended for use at the request of Computer
Associates Technical Support.
1.32 GSO
Displays the GSO panels for the selected SCL member. If member name is
used, the specified schedule is displayed from the specified SCL library (nnn).
If * is used with or without a partial name (prefix), an ISPF EDIT Member List
is displayed listing all the schedules whose names start with a partial schedule
name. Select a name from the list. The syntax is:

1.33 HIST
Displays the Event History Display panel for the selected events.
Note: Specifying * causes CA-Jobtrac to read the entire history file. The
response time for this command depends on the size of the history file.

1.34 HOMELOC=
Changes or sets your default location where nnn is the location ID. The syntax

1.35 I
Displays the Change Audit History panel for an event. The panel displays
information about changes made to an event.
1.36 IPLS
Displays the IPL History panel.
1.37 ISERVE
Displays the IMOD Facility of CA-GSS. This facility is used to create REXX
IMODs. Be aware that CA-GSS must be set up for edit.
1.38 J=
Displays the Scheduled Event Display panel listing all events beginning with
prefix. The syntax is:

1.39 JCL
Displays the production JCL for an event for editing. If eventname is used, the
specified event's production JCL member is displayed. If * is used with a prefix
(partial event name), a list is displayed listing all the JCL members whose
names start with the prefix. Use * without a prefix to display a listing of all the
JCL members. Select a name from the list. Optionally, you can specify a
production JCL library using the nnn parameter where nnn is the location ID.
The syntax is:

1.40 JCLTRAC
Accesses the CA-JCLTrac primary options panel to update options and to
generate reports.
Or, Invokes the JCL ANALYZER which syntax checks the JCL member.
1.41 JMF
Invokes EDIT on the JMFSYM01 member of the CA-Jobtrac DD DATEFILE
library.
1.42 JOBQ=
Displays enqueue research for the event specified by eventname or event
prefix. The resulting display lists all data sets and resources in use by the
event. The specified event must be executing when this command is issued.
The syntax is:

Displays the Table Services Selection Menu. The menu is used to edit, browse,
activate, copy, or print the following tables:
■ ADR tables (perform specified actions when data sets are closed)
■ AMR tables (perform specified actions when console messages are issued)
■ SCS tables (schedule commands for execution)
■ CCPF tables (impose condition code processing on a program, job, job step,
or procstep)
1.44 K=
Displays a Scheduled Event Display panel listing events with the specified
characteristic or characteristics. Use this command to display events currently
having the dependency or dependencies you specify. The syntax is:

Parameters are:
Parm Description
A Displays events that terminated abnormally. This includes events that
abended, were purged, ended with an abnormal condition code, or
had a JCL error.
C Displays events that have completed. This includes events that
abended, were purged, had a JCL error, or are awaiting output
release.
D Displays events with a dependency code.
E Displays events that are currently executing.
H Displays events with no incomplete predecessors.
L Displays events whose scheduled start time has passed (late) or have
a late status.
N Displays NJE jobs submitted on this node.
R Displays events that are late awaiting rerun.
S Displays remotely-submitted NJE jobs.
T Displays events that are awaiting scheduled start time or date.
V Displays events with Pred Count values that do not match the
number of current predecessors listed.
W Displays events that have been submitted by CA-Jobtrac but have not
begun execution (awaiting an initiator).

memname to invoke edit capability on a particular member from the
TRACPARM DD. Possible member names are JOBTRA00, EXCLPARM, and

Displays the CA-Jobtrac User Profile panel. The CA-Jobtrac User Profile panel
is a pop-up panel which allows the users to customize their CA-Jobtrac ISPF
interface options, such as default location, enabling prompts, default search
command, date format, or the CA-View database name.
1.54 PURGE
Purges the selected event from the current schedule. If the event is awaiting
execution, this issues a $PJnnnn command. If the event is awaiting submission, all
successors are released from dependence on the event. It also changes the
status of the event to PURGED by userid. If you have CA-11, this command
automatically changes the CA-11 status of the event to PRODUCTION. Also
see the P line command in Chapter 2, “Line Commands.”
1.55 RALL
Displays all events on the current schedule. Also see 1.16, “D” on page 1-18.
1.56 RELEASE
Releases dependencies. If an event is awaiting submission, removes all
| dependencies except abend bypass (A) and predecessor (P). If an event is
awaiting execution, CA-Jobtrac will issue the $AJnnnn command. If an event is
completed, CA-Jobtrac will remove output release (O) dependency. Also see the
A line command in Chapter 2, “Line Commands.”
1.57 REMLOC=
Removes events for viewing from the location specified by nnn (any location
ID 000-255) from the Scheduled Event Display panel. If you use the TRACX26
user exit, you cannot use REMLOC=nnn to remove events for viewing. The
syntax is:

Displays the Resource Assignments panel for the selected event that is
currently using resources. This shows definitions of resource dependencies for
the selected event.
1.60 RESV
Displays a list of any current DASD reserves in effect.
1.61 RETRY
Retries the posting of the completion status information of an NJE job back to
the submitting system from the execution system.
1.62 RSRC
Displays the Resource Assignments panel for the selected event. This shows
definitions of resource dependencies for the selected event. This command is
the same as the RESOURCE command.
1.63 RUN
Adds the event named eventname to the current schedule for immediate
submission (no dependencies). Assigns current time and date and process
period RQ-userid. If the event is a schedule or CA-Jobtrac task, you must
include the 0. Optionally, specify a version number (.vv) and/or location ID
(,L=nnn). If a duplicate event exists on the current schedule, its location will be
used as the location for the newly added event.
Specify the event type by using the (,A) (,C) (,D) or (,E) options. The event
types are as follows:
,A Indicates that the named event invokes an AS/400 CLP using the
CALL command.
,C Indicates that the named event defines a command to be executed at a
particular remote node.
,D Indicates that the named event is a dummy job.
,E Indicates the named event is a REXX IMOD.
Specify the GSS node name (up to 16 characters) of the executing node for the
named event with the ,N=nodename parameter. Depending on the type of
event, use the ,A=[CLPname,arg|command|imod-arg|shellscriptname,arg]
option to specify an argument to pass to an AS/400 CLP (,A event type),
REXX IMOD (,E event type), or to specify a command to be executed at a
particular remote node (,C event type). The syntax is:

Displays the CA-View (formerly SAR) Primary Selection panel. The first time
you issue this command, the CA-View product prompts you for a high-level
database name. Enter the high-level index of the CA-View database you wish
to access. This name is saved in your CA-Jobtrac user profile. The sysout that
you selected is displayed, and you may enter any CA-View command you
wish. See the CA-View documentation for more information about CA-View
commands.
1.66 SARDB
Changes the CA-View database that CA-Jobtrac interfaces with. When you
issue this command, CA-View displays the CA-View Database Selection panel
where you can specify a different high-level database name. Enter the
high-level index of the CA-View database you wish to access. The new name is
saved in your CA-Jobtrac user profile.
1.67 SAVE
Saves any changes you have made to an event from a panel.
1.68 SCL
Displays a schedule from a specified SCL library (nnn). If memname is used,
the specified schedule is displayed. If * is used with a prefix (partial schedule
name), a list is displayed listing all the schedule members whose names start
with the prefix. Use * without a prefix to display a listing of all the schedule
members. Select a name from the list. Also see the E line command in
Chapter 2, “Line Commands.” The syntax is:

different calendar locations. Each location can have up to 14 cycles.

Displays the temporary-use JCL for an event for editing if the event has not

Event Detail panel, you see the field JCL source=T. Also see 1.78, “T=” on
page 1-84.
1.80 VER
Displays the version number of your CA-Jobtrac.
1.81 VOLUME
Executes CA-JCLTrac to create a Volume Pull List panel from a realtime look
at the JCL. This command is ignored if issued against schedule members,
IMODs, dummy jobs, or jobs in completed status. If CA-JCLTrac encounters an
error, the message JCL PROCESSING ERROR appears on the panel. One or
more CA-JCLTrac messages will be written to the console describing the
problem in more detail. The Volume Pull List Assist panel includes vaulting
and tape creation information supplied through TRACX25. CA-JCLTrac uses
the current setting for the EXIT25 or NOEXIT25 option for your TSO session to
determine whether to call the exit.

keyboard is locked while the update is in progress. Depending on the type of
terminal you have, you can enter either the PA1 or the ATTN key to terminate
the update session and wait for the panel to reappear. The default is five
seconds. Use the nn parameter if you wish to set an interval time that differs
from the default time. This command is valid only after you enter the RALL

Line Description
Command
0 (Zero) Browse sysouts using CA-View. The first time you
issue this command, CA-View prompts you for a CA-View
high-level database name. Enter the high-level index of the
CA-View database that you wish to access. This name is saved
in your CA-Jobtrac user profile. The sysout that you selected
is displayed and you may enter any CA-View command you
wish. See the CA-View documentation for more information

The event type entries (A, C, and U) are significant only when a GSS node
name is also specified using the new NODE= entry for the Referback field
(column 25). The platform type associated with the node specified by the
NODE= entry must match the platform type associated with the event type. If
the platform types do not match, you receive an error message upon execution,
and an abend code is posted to the event. For example, an event type of A and
a node name that specifies a UNIX machine will cause an error at execution
time.

WEEKDAY#LW Eligible the last workday of the week that is not a holiday. This process
period considers a workweek to be Monday through Sunday. See the
WEEKDAY#L process period for workweeks that do not include Saturday

5.12 XdayCYC#{n|L}
Eligible on any occurrence of the specified day during any processing period,

1-5 (5 week cycle maximum), or use L to specify the last occurrence. Replace
day with a day of the week: MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SAT, SUN.

6.1 +TODAY
Initiates a test run of the schedule using the specified date (Julian date, where
yy is the year and ddd is the day of the year) as the current date. An asterisk
(*) in the Date (DATE) field indicates that you wish to use the current date for
the test run. The test run allows schedule testing and projections of scheduling
action for the specified date. No physical updates of the current schedule are
made. Look at the output of the SCL to see how the test worked. The syntax
is:

6.2 @BUSGRP
Specifies that the business group name assigned to subsequent events in the
schedule is used until the next @BUSGRP is found in the SCL member. See
1.12, “BUSGRP” on page 1-14. The syntax is:

6.3 @CYCnnn
Specifies that the non-default cyclic calendar with ID nnn be used for events in
the schedule that have no location ID coded. This is used until the next
@CYCnnn is found in the SCL member.
6.4 @CYCnnn=
Defines each mmdd (date) to be the start date of a processing cycle for events
in the schedule having a location ID matching the ID nnn. @CYCnnn only
affects the selection of cyclic calendars. It overrides, for cyclic calendars only,
the location specified in a previous @SETLOC. This location remains the
default location for cyclic calendars until the end of the SCL member is
reached or until another @CYCnnn or @SETLOC is found in the schedule. The
syntax is:

6.5 @DATEFORM
Specifies the date format you want to use. American (A) is in the form
mmddyy. The International (I) is in the form ddmmyy. The default is
American (A). The syntax is:

6.6 @FCAST
Creates a forecast report and forecast schedule using the forecast data set for
the specified date (Julian date, where yy is the year and ddd is the numerical
day of the year). The syntax is:

6.7 @FLOWnn
The @FLOWnn global control record associates events in a schedule with a
CPM (Critical Path Monitoring) flow name. The @FLOWnn= keywords can be
specified to define the flow name that should be added to the event's
checkpoint records. Events with a flow name have CAIENF events issued to
report the job status to the CPM monitor. The syntax is:

6.8 @HOLnnn
Specifies that the non-default holiday calendar with ID nnn be used for events
in the schedule that have no location ID coded. nnn is a three-digit location ID.
6.9 @HOLnnn=
Defines each mmdd (date) to be a holiday for events in the schedule having a
coded location ID matching the ID nnn. @HOLnnn only affects the selection of
holiday calendars. It overrides, for holiday calendars only, the location
specified in a previous @SETLOC. This location remains the default location
for holiday calendars until the end of the SCL member is reached or until
another @HOLnnn or @SETLOC is found in the schedule. The syntax is:

6.10 @INITIMOD
Specifies that subsequent events should (=YES) or should not (=NO) use the
global initiation IMOD. See DYNAMLOC in the Getting Started to use this
feature. The syntax is:

6.11 @RERUN
Defines the date (Julian date, where yy is the year and ddd is the numerical
day of the year) to be used as the current date for a rerun of the schedule. The
syntax is:

6.12 @SCHENV
Specifies the value to be inserted on the SCHENV= JOB statement parameter
for a job or a group of jobs and takes precedence over the SCHENV= startup
parameter. The value specified applies until a new value is specified or until a
null value is specified. NO may be specified to disallow insertion of the
SCHENV= parameter on the JOB statement for the job or group of jobs. This
parameter has no default. If this parameter is omitted, the value specified on
the SCHENV= startup parameter will be used. See Workload Manager in the
Getting Started before using this feature.
6.13 @SETLOC
Specifies that the location ID nnn be assigned to subsequent events in the
schedule. @SETLOC sets the location for all functions, including calendar
selection. An @SETLOC overrides any @HOLnnn or @CYCnnn that precedes it.
This location remains the default location until the end of the SCL member is
reached or until another @SETLOC is found in the schedule. The syntax is:

6.14 @TODAY
Forces the calendar resolution to the date defined by yyddd (Julian date, where
yy is the year and ddd is the numerical day of the year). Events are added to
the current schedule as if the date specified were the current date. The syntax

6.15 @TRACE
Displays hexadecimal representation of schedule records from the checkpoint.
This record is used for diagnostic purposes only.
6.16 @WDnnn
Overrides the location zero workday calculations. Use it to add Saturday or
Sunday or both to locations other than zero. Replace nnn with the location ID
of the location you want to affect. The syntax is:

6.17 @WORKD
Resets the workdays parameter for location 000 to include Saturday
(@WORKD=SAT), Sunday (@WORKD=SUN), or Saturday and Sunday
(@WORKD=SATSUN), or returns the workdays parameter to Monday through
Friday (@WORKD=MTWTF). The syntax is:

6.18 UDEFn
Defines unique process period dates for events having process period keyword
UDEFn (where n in the process period keyword matches the n in this
parameter). Replace mmdd with the date to be defined as the process period.
Replace processp with the name you want to assign to the process period. The

Dependency Descriptions
Code
A Abend bypass. If an event with this code abends, the
predecessor dependency (code P) is removed from successors
to the event. This does not apply to condition code, catalog, or
JCL errors.
D Data set required dependency. One or more data sets must
be supplied before the event can execute.
| E Edit JCL dependency. The job's JCL must be edited before
| job is submitted. The code must be removed manually after
| the JCL is edited.
H Automatic hold dependency. The event is being held from
submission due to some type of threshold crossover. The
Current Event Stat field on the Scheduled Event Display panel
may indicate the reason for the hold. The code must be
removed manually before the event can be submitted.
I Environmental dependency. All environmental dependencies
must complete normally without abend before the event can
be submitted.
J JCL required dependency. JCL must be supplied or altered
before the event can execute. This code must be manually
removed or JCL must be externally submitted using the
AUTO-SCHD feature.
JW WLM resource dependency. The WLM resource specified for
this event must be valid and available before this event can
execute. The code must be removed manually after the WLM
resource is verified and/or activated.
M Manual release dependency. The code must be removed
manually before the event can be submitted. If the event has
manual actions, they must be performed before the event is
submitted.
