NATIONAL CADET CORPS

2022 – 2023

Introduction

The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps with its head Quarters at New Delhi. It is
open to school and college students on voluntary basis. The National Cadet Corps in India is a
voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over
India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets
have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference
over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.

KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology raised 5 (TN) Girls BN NCC Unit - Senior Wing from
October 2018, 6 (TN) Med Coy NCC and 2 (TN) Air Sqn NCC from 2021 and has many active
functioning in the campus from its inception. The units coordinate and conduct various Camps, social
service-based activities, etc.

AIM OF NCC

The ‘Aims’ of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the
requirements expected of it in the current socio–economic scenario of the country. The NCC aims at
developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of
selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained and
motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of
which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to
motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.

The NCC is a responsive, learning and continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by
certain Core Values that we endeavour to instill among all ranks of the NCC. These include the
following:

• A sense of patriotic commitment to encourage cadets to contribute to national development.

• Respect for diversities in religion, language, culture, ethnicity, life style and habitat to instill a
sense of National unity and social cohesion.

• Inculcating habits of restraint and self-awareness.
• Understanding the values of honesty, truthfulness, self-sacrifice, perseverance and hard work.
• Respect for knowledge, wisdom and the power of ideas.

The KPRIET celebrated Independence Day with faculty and student volunteers on
15.08.2022. With the patriotic spirit, the 76 th Independence Day was celebrated at KPR
Institute of Engineering and Technology under the guidance of Dr. K. P. Ramasamy, the
Chairman, KPR Group. Dr. M. Akila and Mr Niranjan Bharathi hoisted our National Flag at
9.00 am and the entire college paid tribute to the pride of our nation. She inculcated
patriotism and nationalism in the minds, hearts and souls of the students through her vibrant
speech. The NCC parade with rifle and the foot drill were demonstrated with valour, unity
and discipline by the NCC cadets of KPRIET. Pipping ceremony for NCC cadets of All three
wings was honored by Dr M Akila and Lt Dr A K Priya ANO, 5TN Girls BN. In order to
cultivate the spirit of patriotism and to express the gratitude to the army soldiers and Mother
India, the patriotic run had been run by the KPRIETians.

5 (TN) Girls Battalion 2 NCC cadets undergone MARINA TRAINING CAMP -2 2023 from 17 JAN
2023 TO 26 JAN 2023. Cadets were trained in various common and special subjects, leadershipskills,
cultural and public speaking. Cadets participated in the Chief Minister rally held during Republic
Day 2023 at Chennai.

The KPRIET celebrated Republic Day with faculty and
student volunteers on 26.01.2023. With the patriotic spirit, the 74th Republic Day was
celebrated at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology under the guidance of Dr. K. P.
Ramasamy, the Chairman, KPR Group. Dr. M. Akila and Dr.M .Mathisekaran hoisted our
National Flag at 8.30 am and the entire college paid tribute to the pride of our nation. She
inculcated patriotism and nationalism in the minds, hearts and souls of the students through
her vibrant speech. The NCC parade with rifle and the riffle drill were demonstrated with
valour, unity and discipline by the NCC cadets of KPRIET.
